Go on record. Who do we draft in RD 1

Im liking Trent Richardson alot. I wonder if Pioli will invest in this position with an early draft pick (never saw him do it in new england if I recall)

Dontari Poe?

Bewbies 03-13-2012 11:41 AM

If Stanzi is going to start I hope we get Richardson. If not, I want a trade down and pick up a 1 next year.

1ChiefsDan 03-13-2012 11:41 AM

A cheerleader?

Bump 03-13-2012 11:42 AM

It doesn't matter at this point anymore. We may as well draft a back up punter in the first round.

Rooster 03-13-2012 11:43 AM

LSU Defensive Lineman

RealSNR 03-13-2012 11:43 AM

I would love it if we signed Winston and Soliai.

If we did that, we would have unlimited autonomy on ANY position that comes to us in the first round.

If it worked out that way I would absolutely draft Ryan Tannehill. Why? Because we can. Plus Trent Richardson is likely not going to be there when we pick.

tooge 03-13-2012 11:44 AM

depends. If we get Soliai, then probably Reiff. If we get Winston, then probably Poe. If we get both, then probably a trade down, but of course that requires a partner. Way to many scenarios to really pick a guy. I'll play your game tho. Reiff from Iowa.

I am on this bandwagon and have been for a while. Trade down this year with the idea of getting a first next year. Tread water with Cassell this year (sigh) then use the two 1st next year to move up for a QB in the first.

Okie_Apparition 03-13-2012 11:44 AM

free agency would be nice to have under the belt first
If you believe the Chiefs will be active :)

There won't be anyone available at #11 that teams are so enamored with they will give up a first to move up.

David DeCastro and Dontari Poe appear to be the best prospects at that level, and if teams are that desperate for a guard or nose tackle, they can sign Soliai or Aubrayo Franklin and Grubbs or Nicks or Hutchinson.

Oh, and I say we're drafting David DeCastro or Jonathan Martin.

this would be a dream scenario. No major holes to fill (minus QB) and we could draft BPA

come on, the Chiefs choose not to participate in this "free agency" you speak of. Other than signing slow defensive backs and angry (and slow) running backs.

Okie_Apparition 03-13-2012 11:53 AM

Peyton Manning has lowered the value of #11 pick
since the pick will follow PM's lead & not answer the phone call

The Rams want to trade out of #6.....so trading up for Tannehill might be a possibility.

rico 03-13-2012 11:57 AM

DeCastro.

Hoover 03-13-2012 11:57 AM

Richardson because we need to run the ball and play D to make the playoffs. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Rex Grossman, Jake Delhomme, and Chris Chandler took teams to the Super Bowl. I think Cassel or Orton could come along for the ride if we have a dominant running game.

HELLL NO! You don't, for the good of the ****ing league give the damn Rams more ****ing picks! Are you dumb?? Draft Tannehill. Dude is athletic as hell and has the ceiling of Rodgers.

Dayze 03-13-2012 11:58 AM

If we stay put at 11, I could see Rieff or Decastro.

If we move back to 15-20ish, I could see Hightower or Dre Kirkpatrick of there.

Christ how many draft picks do they need?

They must be eyeing Martin or Reiff and want better draft value. Understandable. That being said, however, there's no way Cleveland takes Tannehill at 4, and I'm willing to bet Miami signs Flynn. I'd betcha a bag of doughnuts that Tannehill will simply fall right to us at 11, and we won't have to trade up to get him.

Dont think a trade up is needed for tannehill. Can't see much intrest in him before kc pick

Browns @ 4- nah (maybe they gel flynn)
Miami @ 8?

is Tannehill ranked as a 1st round prospect?

His value has inflated latley depnding on how the free agenct qb market goes its a possibility at 11.

If Tannehill gets past Miami I think we take him.

I think several that have been talked about will indeed be gone before our turn...but I'd take DeCastro or Richardson...but I'd prefer we trade out of the first round and take Weeden in the second and sign some FA's.

I'm just throwing the report out there.

Apparently Fisher thinks his team is completely devoid of talent.

If we want Tannehill....then we need to hope that Miami signs Flynn.....and that Seattle doesn't trade up for him.

truth. This team has zero desire to get a good player at the most important position. Never has and never will.

You are kidding right?

Dayze 03-13-2012 12:10 PM

since a lot of folks say 'trade down'.....and it takes two to tango, who are the likely teams to trade down with?

I can only see Philly or Arizona. Maybe the Lions if a tackle the love is at our spot.

I have never been more confident about someone busting than I am about Tannehill.

On a sidenote, man I wish Russell Wilson was about 4-6 inches taller...

DeezNutz 03-13-2012 12:36 PM

Tannehill is interesting and all that, but we're really stretching to paint him as a first-rounder, and there's nothing I want more than to draft/develop our own guy.

suds79 03-13-2012 12:39 PM

I think Pioli knows that he could be on the hotseat if things don't turn around quickly. No way he invests in a project player like Tannehill.

Hard to say right now before FA. I would think a top tackle or Poe in the draft but maybe we get those guys in FA.

If so? BPA

the Talking Can 03-13-2012 12:40 PM

i think pioli's #1 hope is trading down

my only other clue is that he isn't drafting a ****ing guard at #11...

I am leaning towards this as well. We are out of the running to Luck or RGIII, Manning hates, and Tannehill is a reach.

Fix the line this year, draft a QB next year.

The value of quarterbacks has skyrocketed in the past few years. Now, with the rookie wage scale, a guy that would have fallen to the third round a few years back is going to be drafted in the first round.

Everyone realizes now that, until you have the QB, you really have nothing.

Perhaps we need to plant some drugs on him to make his draft stock fall?

kczoo 03-13-2012 01:12 PM

Depends on our free agency. Remember we can like anyone and give anything but they have to want to come here. 1st round, Martin or Richardson.

Exoter175 03-13-2012 01:20 PM

I think who we draft depends largely on who we sign.

I think as it sits right now, my top 5 would look like this.

#1: Reiff
#2: DeCastro
#3: Poe
#4: Richardson
#5: Martin

If we sign Soliai, take Poe out, if we sign a guy like Lawfirm, take Richardson out, Winston/Brown take Reiff/Martin out, etc.

I think if for some crazy reason we sign Lawfirm, Winston, Soliai, and grab a guard (nicks as an example), we'll try to trade with another team to fall back into the 17-24 area and maybe take a shot at getting a guy like Cordy Glenn or Jonathan Martin if he falls that far, and try to restock our lines with some young bodies. I think in the 3rd-4th round if that happens, we might take a chance on a couple project guys for the defense. Pass Rushing DE/OLB with a couple negatives, and a "press" cornerback who might not have the ideal size or speed.

As it sits today, my money is on Reiff until free agency hits with a full head of steam.

In58men 03-13-2012 01:20 PM

I hope it's Ryan Tannehill

listopencil 03-13-2012 02:54 PM

"...with the 11th pick in the 2012 draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...a Swiss Army knife. Because it is cheap and reliable." Swiss Army Knife will wear the number eight.

zonachief 03-13-2012 06:19 PM

I watched some vids of Tannehill and am becoming more immpressed. He seems like a quick decision maker and is a good athlete. I'm becoming more ok with him at 11.

BigRichard 03-13-2012 06:28 PM

With the Hillis and Winston moves it looks like Pioli is moving to get a RB and RT in FA whether it is them or not. I could see him taking Tannenhill. It is a win win for him.

He drafts Tannenhill and says he has to sit behind Matt for a while. This gives them the QB half the fans are up in arms about without having to get rid of Matt right away. Sure the 11th spot was a little high but what the hell, it didn't stop him with Tyson Jackson. If Matt lights it up (cough, cough) he can say he was right about Matt and keep him in. If not he has the rook to fall back on.

He's a quick decision maker because all his throws are pre-determined before the snap.

I'm not a fan of this guy at all. If I'm going to take a guy at #11 or even trade up, he better be elite at something. Whether that be smarts, arm strength, or athleticism. He's not elite at anything. He has good arm strength and athleticism, but not elite. He doesn't have the talent to make up for the complete lack of experience.

chiefzilla1501 03-13-2012 07:19 PM

Also, while I usually love trading down, I can't imagine who we would trade down for. Anybody? I think if you trade down, you have to take a Guard. Which, I suppose, isn't a terrible thing given that our choices at #11 are probably not going to wow us anyway.

O.city 03-13-2012 07:19 PM

Maybe trade down and take Konz?

Fritz88 03-13-2012 07:20 PM

We are 99% trading down.
