My car door got biked!
 

Let me start by saying I am a driver. I have been driving cars for 25 years, and I have very good control of the car and road vision.

Three weeks ago I was parked on the side of a street and as I opened my car door to get out a bicyclist slammed into my opened door. ( I swear he yelled Geronimo before he smashed into it) This is every drivers worst nightmare. I've had some close calls but I am aways pretty alert. I was parked with two other guys who were about two cars in front of me. They saw the whole thing and they feel lucky this bicyclist didn’t target their car door.

This cyclist slammed into my door so hard it took the door clean off the hinges. I immediately scooched the dislocated car door to the edge of the road. I asked the two other guys to call a body shop right away.

My door was bent almost in half. Big issue was, the window was shattered and the door snapped clean off the hinges.

Needless to say it was painful.

I've had massive body shop repair. I'm three weeks post-body shop. I'm trying to drive off my anxiety and I was up all night, can't sleep because it hurts so much. Just really uncomfortable. It sucks because I use my car for my job, requires quick maneuvering and it's tough to corner.

I wasn't ever going to post anything on here about it, but maybe some of you guys have had bad bicyclist injure your car and have fully recovered, I could just use some cheering up to know that it will take time and my car will be alright. Also, please don’t yell Geronimo when you are slamming into open car doors as a bicyclist.

Driving is my life. Right now I just feel lame and like I'll never be at peace or know the joy of cruising the free road again.

I thought it was funny... at least the idea of it. Certainly not offensive. I never thought this type of parody threads were ever insulting or anything, just kinda funny.

And besides, the picture made it.

Why is this so bad? It is somewhat humorous.

From my perspective, if it was someone beside Tiny, then there might be some modicum of humor. As such, there is not. NBD, let's move on.

The fact that it was a board member who got seriously injured.

It's not a sacred cow.....it's the fact that it was a board member who was seriously hurt.

Would it be ok for me to make a parody thread of someone who's dog got run over?

It would be funny if he wasn't seriously hurt. I don't know what in your little mind would make you think Tiny would find this funny. It's more of a tard move than anything.

Would it be ok? Probably not.

Would there be the same level of outrage if TK's story was gochiefs and the parody was poking fun of him?

Look I'm not looking to turn this into something it's not so I will leave this subject with this. Should this have been done? Probably not. That being said I've seen far worse.

As a mod once told me, you posted this on here, you should have expected it.

FWIW, it could have been written better, but I would like to think TK has a sense of humor.

As a cyclist myself this makes me cringe. To know the amount of physical pain he is going through and possibly the inability to pursue his passion for life that is facing him, it seems pretty edgy to make fun of.

Really? Well, if he learns not to ride a bicycle on the same surface that cars and trucks use it will still be a valuable experience.

I found this post humorous all things considered. Sometimes laughing at your own shitty situation makes you feel better...at least for me

I understand there are a lot of cyclists who impede traffic and act like jerks. I hate those guys. We're not all like that.
