Opinions needed from my fellow cper's

It may be a little early for you to be thinking about fireworks but Pyro Joe is in full swing and just about finished with his 2012 order.

Anyhow the following video is from a new 500 gram cake I'm looking at called Trendy Tattoos(1st firework in the sequence) and if you don't mind taking one minute could you please watch and give me your thoughts.

That would probably result in the police being dispatched to my address. The double ones at the end are very cool, what's that sucker going to cost?

mlyonsd 03-25-2012 08:55 AM

Timely thread, we shot the rest of our 2011 stash last night. I like it. What's the retail cost?

Hoover 03-25-2012 08:55 AM

I prefer fireworks that make Philip Rivers fumble. Got any of those?

Yeah, when they shot it at our annual show I was like whoa that's got some kick and a few regular customers immediately came to mind.Cost will probably be in the $49 range.

jspchief 03-25-2012 09:00 AM

Not exactly sure what I'm looking at.

Is there something that differentiates it from other fireworks? Hard to determine scale from the video, especially from my phone.

You should make the trip to come see me this year and ask for the Pyro Joe CP discount :D

Seriously,I have a few planet peeps who drive a fair distance (duane, loren, lee) and I take care of them for doing so.That piece will be in the $49 range.

It's a 500 gram cake Jeff or maximum load that us C-class retailers can sale.I was just thoroughly impressed with the bang and bursts compared to other 500 grams I've seen and was looking for feedback.

I see. So its the upper end of what's available to Joe Consumer then?

It seems big. I just don't have much point of reference. Maybe I should leave this thread to those that know.
:o

:o

You're spot on,I try and cherry pick all my multi-shots and large fountains so that my customers are happy with anything they purchase.Nothing worse than dropping a $20 bill on something you take home and go wow that sucked.

I just may do that. Maybe make a weekend trip out of it and watch a Royals game. Haven't done that in 20 years.

I 'll give you a holler.

Awesome!

One thing I've often wondered. Up here in SD the Class C stuff is sold, at least I think it is...large artillery shells, etc.

It appears to me from the few stands I've been to there is a crap load of stuff the retailer can choose from.

Do you guys have catalogs or something you shop from? How many different things are the select from? Is it like shopping for lures in a Bass Pro magazine?

Also, sometime if you've never seen a 'Screaming Honker' order one. Cheap 7 shot tube that actually does sound like a screaming goose. The family insists I get them every year. They think it's the funniest thing ever.

C-class is what us retailers can sell to the general public and yes there is a boatload of product to choose from.I actually go to a live show and take notes because some stuff is just not worth bringing in and therefore I cherry pick my products.

The bigger stuff B-class and even A class require a pyrotechnics license to purchase and shoot and since 9-11 really does someone like me no good because I can't sell it to the general public.

Will ask about the honker,thanks.

Snakes and sparklers are the only ones I like.

$29 range if you mention Chiefs Planet

LiveSteam 03-25-2012 10:39 AM

I thought it was pretty cool. If they make a cake that combines something like the Tattoos & Gunslinger, That would be awesome sky eye candy.

mikey23545 03-25-2012 10:42 AM

Gunslinger is pretty badass, Joe!

I know this is a very stupid question, but I'm sure it is very illegal to ship fireworks, right?

I live in Florida, and that's a pretty good drive to buy fireworks...

No it's not a stupid question,it can be done but I believe the legality is based on your states policies on fireworks.I'll check it out for you.

Nzoner 03-27-2012 06:20 AM

For the bargain hunter this is a new pick this season called Noisy, price range around $12

blaise 03-27-2012 06:23 AM

It looks pretty much like most other fireworks I've seen. Is it because it looks like it's from a show and not back yard stuff that makes it special?

Most fireworks are pretty much alike and yes although I sell the 'backyard variety" I pride myself in trying to pick the ones to sell that will make your neighbors go whoa where in the hell did you get that.

ShortRoundChief 03-27-2012 06:32 AM

Just keep on saling the good stuff, Joe.

kcmaxwell 03-27-2012 06:46 AM

I like it! Will definitely have to try that one out! This year I have a float trip shortly after the 4th, so I might have to tone it down a little... That's kind of depressing now that I think of it.

wilas101 03-27-2012 07:00 AM

i got drunk last year and didn't take notes on what I liked most of the stuff I got from Joe.

I remember there were some cakes that were completely badass but I'll be damned if I can remember which ones they were.

There was also a mortar that was very nice. great height, loud report, forgot the name. :(

My bottom line, if you guys are close enough, go see Joe. Everything I got from him was good. I liked some better than others but it was all good. Not a single piece that I regretted buying.

htismaqe 03-27-2012 07:06 AM

Damn, I wish I hadn't seen this.

My father-in-law died 2 summers ago - him and I used to drive to Eagleville and spend $2K on fireworks every summer.

I only spent $300 last summer, trying to resist the itch...

Appreciate the comments duane, the mortar you're talking about is Supernova and it's exclusive to the company I buy from.I actually ordered 20 cases this season,it's by far the best c-class mortar I've ever seen.

As I tell all cper's make the extra drive and I'll make it worth your while plus if you come on a slower day/night we can have a cold one or two.

Graystoke 03-27-2012 09:06 AM

ALL RIGHT! A Pryro thread.
We usually go down to Wayland Mo Every June to a place called Heartland to get our stuff for the 4th. They treat us pretty good and have all the videos to watch before purchase.
One of the things I love about fireworks is the goofy graphics on the cakes etc...
The Chinese just get the Americana shit all mixed up and it makes for some funny things.

I will check out your facebook page. Looks like great stuff!

The Franchise 03-27-2012 09:10 AM

I like "The Gunslinger" but I thought "Trendy Tattoo" was kind of slow and boring. If it was sped up more it would be better.

Simply Red 03-27-2012 09:11 AM

aside from the very last pop, I wasn't super impressed, I just tell you this because you asked me to be honest.

Seeing the fireworks on video doesn't display justice IMO.
