Two starters so far.

Poe and Allen.

Chiefs are not settling for just building depth.

They want starters.

Both players are captains, by the way. Pioli is barking up the captain tree this year.

No offense, but shouldn't you expect to get starters out of rounds #1 and #2...?

Half the draftniks on this board have been clamoring for depth everywhere.

The Chiefs are going for projected starters.

I agree. The Chiefs love to draft OL pretty early, but sit them for a year.

That's a far cry from how we used to, or actually, not used to do it.

Starting TE was drafted in 3rd round.

Week 1? I don't see any starters for then. If Poe starts, either he's ****ing great and holy shit the Chiefs are brilliant or man we are ****ed.

I'd make that same bet, and also bet that Powe is the starter week one on the nose.

buddha 04-27-2012 10:57 PM

Who gives a shit who is starting in week one? It doesn't matter. What matters is who plays the most minutes and makes the most plays throughout the season.

The whole "starter" thing is silly.

The one thing you know about Poe is that people have been VERY critical of this pick. KC is going to coach him up like no other, and he will see the field in situations where he is likely to succeed, and in controlled situations. Scott and Romeo have a lot of political capital built up in this guy. They will use him carefully until they believe he's ready.

Any Edgars available?

When you finish with a losing record, yes it is a concern. They need some people that can make an impact immediately.

What is a concern? Who starts week one? That's not a concern.

As for the need for immediate impact, they certainly didn't get that. This has been a build for the future kind of draft.

KC will be fine this year. I'm thinking 9-7ish. They had bad luck with injuries last year, and given how thin they were, it's not surprising that they performed poorly.

I actually have faith in Romeo. The Chiefs will be just fine.

BryanBusby 04-28-2012 12:29 AM

If you're building for the future without a plan for now, you're building for another GM's future.

So how many years into the plan do you start building for the present?

what's fine about finishing 9-7?

another year without a playoff win, another year we are in no position to draft a QB...and that's fine?

Agree, assuming guys coming off injuries are mostly healthy. The supposed youth on this team is at a point that it should begin to translate into wins.

Can, you usually have better takes than this.

9-7 gets you into the playoffs in many years, right? What was KC's record last year? Do you not see improvement if we win 9 games and get a wildcard this year? WTF?
