College FAs

IMO the Chiefs still have a lot of the depth issues that we had going in. Pioli should be on the phone right now grabbing up talent that has the potential to make the final 53. Here is a list to start and see what everyone thinks.

Chris Polk RB Was
Cody Johnson FB Tex
Michael Brewster C Oh St
Ryan Baker OLB LSU
Chase Minnefield CB Va
Aaron Henry S Wis
Janzen Jackson FS McNeese St

Signed by Chiefs so far:
Justin Cheadle G Cal
Tyson Hartman S KSU
Josh Bellamy WR Lou
Brandon Kinnie WR Neb
Jean Fanor S Bethume Cookman
Nate Eachus RB Colgate
Ethan Johnson, DE, Notre Dame
Neiko Thorpe, S, Auburn
Taylor Gentry, FB NC State
Terrence Parks S, FSU
Cam Holland C UNC
Matt Szymanski, K Southern Methodist
Dexter Heyman LB Lou
Tim Biere TE Kan
David LeGree QB Hampton

Mr. Arrowhead 04-28-2012 05:37 PM

crazy that Chris Polk didnt get drafted

Shogun 04-28-2012 05:38 PM

CASE KEENUM

Urc Burry 04-28-2012 05:38 PM

Leonard Johnson is a FA I believe.. corner out of Iowa State

O.city 04-28-2012 05:38 PM

Aaron Henry could be a good backup S/special teams guy IMO.

I am kind of intrigued by Burfict as an UDFA. You would have nothing invested in him and the first sign of something, just cut him outright.

I would want nothing to do with that cancer. He never listened to his coaches, why would he start now?

O.city 04-28-2012 05:42 PM

Burfict does have some problems, but is the type of player that, by physical gifts alone, fits perfectly into our defense.

But I don't think there is any chance he comes to KC.

He has a degenerative knee.

Mecca 04-28-2012 05:44 PM

Watch us sign Kellen Moore.

whoman69 04-28-2012 05:45 PM

Guy I am really pushing hard for is Johnson. I don't want Hillis to be on the field too much as a blocking back since we are relying on him to carry some of the load in getting carries, which I don't believe we do effectively from the FB spot. Johnson could also be used in heavy packages with Hillis on short yardage.

I think Polk was off everyone's boards because they used him up and threw him out at Washington. The way RBs are used in the NFL right now, they usually done within 4 years anyway.

We really need some safety depth and I would like to see some suggestions for TE.

O.city 04-28-2012 05:45 PM

Mecca, what are your thoughts on Burfict?

From what Romeo said earlier, sounds like they are satisfied with the level of competition at QB.

O.city 04-28-2012 05:46 PM

I don't think we really need a TE as much. Maybe a developmental guy that is a converted WR or something.

If we need a TE this year it's a big blocking guy for heavy packages.

Mecca 04-28-2012 05:47 PM

I think most want a TE because no one wants to see O'Connell again.

Do you push hard for Johnson often??

LMAO

O.city 04-28-2012 05:49 PM

I think Menzi will make the move to S, wouldn't mind a little more depth there.

I don't think we really need much at TE. We signed Boss and have Moeaki back hopefully who can stay healthy.

We didn't throw him out. He went to the committee and they advised him he'd go in the 2-3 round. So he declared.

BossChief 04-28-2012 05:59 PM

Brewster would be a good backup center for our zone scheme.

I'd take Janzen, too.

Most will tell you he sucked, but like all safeties, he was usually making up for others' mistakes when chasing down guys. He's a decent tackler.

O.city 04-28-2012 06:21 PM

So a possible special teamer type player?

StanziCityChiefs 04-28-2012 06:21 PM

86 tackles? Most likely a camp body.

Arent 95% of UDFA

Really all you are looking for in the UDFA pool.

StanziCityChiefs 04-28-2012 06:23 PM

What?!? I thought the goal was to sign the next Arian Foster

O.city 04-28-2012 06:25 PM

I would grab Burfict and tell him before every game that the team we are playing passed over him 7 times.

Just put him on heavy packages and let him hit something.

Simplicity 04-28-2012 06:25 PM

I would really like to see Leonard Johnson out of ISU... Being a Hawk fan I found it hard for Vandenburg getting anything through to his side of the field... He played great against OK STATE too...
Vontaze I would be happy to give him a chance but one sign of him being trouble... Throw him out.
Brewster would be a great depth move. Solid center.
Marquis Maze, I would go out and get him. Didn't really get to shine this year because of injury most of the year but he played great his Junior year.

O.city 04-28-2012 06:26 PM

Donta Paige Moss would be a good rushbacker IMO.

Checking Polk out, even Sark (his college coach) is saying he knew nothing of injury reports, and is shocked as **** he went undrafted. Reports they forced him out and into the draft is completely untrue. I hope he tears shit up in Philly.
