Wife?

Buck 11-20-2016 08:28 PM

Hey I'm experiencing cold for the first time in my life and walking my dog sorta sucks.

I've never bought gloves or something to keep my ears warm...any suggestions? Other than to man up? I'll preemptively call myself a bitch so you don't have to.

Don't worry about it. It was four years ago.

...pretty sure you've seen one.... go to the women's dept and get some hose and put it on your head. hence "stocking" cap.

I can't believe we are having this conversation.

lewdog 11-20-2016 08:40 PM

How cold we talking, Buck? Do you see precipitation too?

stumppy 11-20-2016 08:40 PM

I don't want to wear pantyhose on my head. I was asking for recommendations of shit that you know, keeps you warm and doesn't make you look like you're wearing pantyhose on your head.

That's actually pretty cold feeling for you I am sure. If you don't want to spend too much. Just wear a sweatshirt with a windbreaker over it.

Want a nice hat that isn't expensive, get one of these.

Probably only need some basic fleece gloves since it's cold and not snowing. Plus you won't be outside that long.

When I try to wear a beanie with it covering my ears, it cover's my eyes too. I think I have a weird head/large ears. You ever have one of those earflap hats?

displacedinMN 11-20-2016 08:47 PM

It was 30F here today. I was outside with a pull over. Same thing yesterday with windy conditions. 30 is a good day in Minneapolis.

Buck 11-20-2016 08:47 PM

I'm just gonna go to Walmart like stevie said. I'll get a beanie temporarily and see if it works, but I will buy one of those earflap things if the beanie is a pain in the ass.

I have never worn an ear flap hate because I am normal.

However, maybe something like this? Or something not as warm in the second link.

Never. Again.

I love weather. There is a guy on a weather forum that was talking about not seeing the sun until Jan 17. He is in Alaska.

Dude, that's not weather.

That's depression.

Cold is relative. Just depends what you are used to.

Go to home depot or lowes buy a 12 pack of brown jersey gloves they are warm not bulky you can still use your hands double them on really cold days 8.99 on sale.

As far as hat I prefer the fleece style stocking cap or beany warm and will block wind. Knit stocking caps always seem like wind whistlers for me unless they are wool but the you have the itches. Dress in layers that wind jacket with a hoody underneath and hood over stocking cap isnt a bad combo. Now if your standing like a stone ralls is going to be a good choice.

It's the science behind it I find fascinating. Mostly how the barometer changes effects people and their behavior. I see it every day.

Holy shit, a Chiefsplanet Horoscope?!?!

Look at Phoenix, it's barometer, and tell me how my day will be tomorrow!!!

srvy 11-20-2016 09:11 PM

i work outside in all conditions a hat is important for cold but i dont want it so warm that I sweat like the guy in that commercial in the elevator next to the babe. if your moving around a warm rabbit fur lined or down lined hat will sweat you like your in a blast furnace. Go inside to eat lunch you will be a sweat head. Just on the edge of comfortable to me is the best for cold weather.

You have a cold front moving in. People will be even more irritable, drive even more poorly, have to go potty more often. You may have a headache for no reason other than the change in the weather.

Driving in rain here is like snow and ice elsewhere. It's so hilarious.

Honestly, I never get headaches. And today when the rain moved it, I got one. I get maybe 3-4 headaches a year.

You might be able to make money off of this!

displacedinMN 11-20-2016 09:20 PM

I have been able to predict student behavior, moods, headaches and child birth watching the weather.

Warmth over fashion take note of a old gnarled wind burned construction worker is wearing on a cold day. they know what works and carhart stocking caps of the polyester variety are very good they have a tight weave unlike most walmart variety but be prepared for sticker shock some approach 30 bucks.

Those earflap hats have age restrictions. Like 65+

bevischief 11-20-2016 11:37 PM

It's nice here in KC after living up north. With no dogs to walk.

BigRichard 11-21-2016 08:54 AM

If you are someplace that gets really cold, sub zero a few days out of the year, I would suggest getting a heavy coat as well long before it gets that cold. You will hate life if all you have is a sweatshirt and a wind breaker.
