Don't blame him. If given the choice between actual sports media and just being a blogger/online reporter, I'll take the TV job every time.

Dude's definitely been improving on camera, you're right. I do hope stuff works out for him.

Mr. Flopnuts 08-30-2012 10:48 AM

Shitty. Josh is a cool dude IRL, and was a great employee for the Chiefs. Hate to see him go.

Black Bob 08-30-2012 10:48 AM

All I know is that Pioli would not want looney at the Star. He's been inside the organization. Also, the Star would probably give Looney a pretty good sized raise because of this.

You have to be good at something :)

Pioli is an insane total control freak. Its just more proof that the RAC hire was about control and nothing else.

I used to think it was Bob Gretz, carrying Carl's water. Gretz loosened up after he left the team and Rufus disappeared as well IIRC

I agree about Pioli but, RAC earned the job last year. If there has ever been a intern coach who deserved the job, it is RAC.

Yeah three games was enough to prove his excellence.

Romeo was just the safe hire. We know he wouldn't hire anyone outside of the tree. I think Haley and Pioli's relationship deteriorated to the point where he had to can him midseason because Haley was tanking it, and Pioli didn't have a backup plan or any real "tree" candidates available

And he's on the tree. Also, he won't argue with Cassel being the guy. That's it. There's nothing impressive about 26-41. JMO.

Ya he earned it by default. I don't know who else he would have picked but I think he played it safe to give it to Crennel. He also knew the team would support the hire so he didn't have much to sell to the team or the fans for that matter. Just played a safe hand and didn't go out of the box to find a coach.

But the deciding factor was that RAC was a lackey. A lackey that wanted a head coaching gig and no one else in the NFL was gonna give that to him. He's a foot shuffling porter to Pioli and thats exactly what Pioli wants.

Maybe it will work but I'm really really doubtful.

He didn't hire RAC at midseason.

Looney was ok. I can't say I'll miss him all that much though.

I've become quite familiar with Looney's work this off-season.
I've been a regular of Chiefs Live.

He won't be hard to replace.

Doesn't it automatically make language like that racist when you're talking about a black man? That's what I've heard around here in the past.

philfree 08-30-2012 12:02 PM

A big reaseon Romeo was hired as HC is that we are three years into building our 2 gap defense that Romeo runs. To go with a HC from outside might have meant scrapping that and that would have been foolish.

Phobia 08-30-2012 12:17 PM

Looney himself just made the decision last week but Pioli's surveillance is so advanced he knew 6 weeks ago.

Being a reporter in KC with Scott Pioli is like being a Maytag repairman. He's not going to give you anything you can work with except fluff pieces. It hurts the fans more than it helps the Chiefs against other teams.

Yeah he put in a lot of effort but his opinions weren't exactly groundbreaking. Although to his defense he was limited in what he could say since he worked for the Chiefs.

The intro doesn't have any vocals. It's merely an instrumental.

It would be nice to pick his brain on all of the bullshit that has gone on inside of Arrowhead during his time here. More ammo against Pioli.

He won't talk. His lips are sealed. He said that some people there were good to him and it isn't "in his interest" to torch the place.
