I'm a big USC fan and the guy is identical to Cassel in every way. I watched over half his games at USC and I'm not sold on him.

I question how many games you really watched. To compare him to a guy who was a 7th round draft pick is insulting. First of all Barkley is way more accurate than Cassel, he also has good mechanics and go through his progressions.

He's also a check down king like Cassel. His accuracy isn't all that great. Did you even watch the Stanford game? Watch Cassel and then watch Barkley. It's the same guy just different last names.

He's not bad but I just think Smith is the complete package.

The only question at all I have about Barkley is arm strength. Is it Kellen Moore bad? Or is it Matt Cassel arm strength?

Threw for 468 and completed 83% against Arizona.

He must throw a lot of check downs.

He folded under pressure against Stanford. His arm isn't that great. Typical USC QB who comes into school groomed to the hilt, surrounded by tons of talent and the beneficiary of a fairly easy schedule.

I don't like that he is throwing to probably 2 future first round receivers.

I watched the vid. Looked like the running had more to do with it than the passing game. In addition, I didnt see anything of note from the QB that would lead me to believe we should tank the season in order to obtain a high a draft choice to select him. He was not hurried at any time, and always threw to the first receiver. He did not scan the field looking for options. He looked like a game manager to me.

I'm not saying the kid won't be good, I really don't know. But that video certainly isn't evidence that he's going to be top pro QB.

I don't understand this post. Chipper did went straight to MLB from high school... never attended USC.

Count me out on the Barkley campaign. I am not too overly impressed with Barkley.

I think Barkley's ceiling is Eli Manning. His floor is Alex Smith. He doesn't have a cannon for an arm, but he can make up with accuracy. Not the best athlete. He has the leadership you want. Goes through progressions well. Top notch person off the field. Can handle the media. Strong work ethic.

The Chiefs are built around his strengths with our receiving core and Barkley's play action skills, he would do really well for us.

He reminds me of Carson Palmer, but the way trends are going in the NFL I wouldn't touch an immobile QB in the first round with a 10 foot pole. We're not far from the day where the white statue is an extinct species.

I think there will always be room for guys in the NFL who are as accurate as Barkley.

Personally, I think with Barkley you're probably going to end up with a slightly better version of Andy Dalton. Depending on your view of Dalton, that could be either A)Outstanding or B) Not as exciting as getting Smith or Wilson, who probably project to have higher ceilings according to some due to their physical traits.

Experience in the West Coast system, not elite arm strength (I define arm strength as the velocity on deep outs/comebacks, not throwing the 9 route. Different for everyone I suppose), not exceptionally athletic/mobile, looks down the field, usually goes through his progressions, doesn't do an impressive job with pre-snap especially taking into consideration his time spent in the same system.

I'll try to post an actual breakdown with times marked on the youtube videos with his snaps from this year and last year at some point if I can get a free weekend.
