Approval Rating

Out of curiosity, what is your level of confidence (or, approval rating--whichever you prefer to call it) in the chiefs right now... including the players, front office, coaching staff, facilities, owners, groundskeepers, etc.

If you're not voting 10, you're doing it wrong.

jspchief 09-20-2012 08:21 PM

0.

There is literally not a single facet of the team I can take a positive stance on. I realize we have some individual talent, but it means nothing in the current state of this team.

Munson 09-20-2012 08:32 PM

Zero confidence.

We've finished last place 2 out 3 years in Pioli's regime. And we're on our way to finish last again. We still don't have a legit QB on this roster. And we've only drafted 1 impact player in 4 years(maybe 2, but Houston is still unproven).

tk13 09-20-2012 08:34 PM

47%. They're just a bunch of leeches looking for a handout. No personal responsibility.

I voted 1 because there is a lot of talented players on the roster.

I voted three. It's hard to balance how crappy your team is playing against my approval of how crappy your team is playing.

007 09-21-2012 12:45 AM

It's not very often I can tag a #1 when talking about the Chiefs but this thread allowed it.

Chiefs #1.

Ebolapox 09-21-2012 07:09 AM

yeah--I went with 1 as well. we won't have hit rock bottom until we lose out (not that I can muster any hope from this season, even IF we somehow pull a rabbit out of our ****ing hat on this one). too much goddamned talent for me to go 0, but it was damned close.

bevischief 09-21-2012 07:20 AM

Where the hell are the negative numbers at in this poll?

as it's literally impossible to get lower than zero (despite what many of you are feeling, and I'm feeling too, zero is the mathematical minimum in this poll), there are no numbers below zero present.

Rausch 09-21-2012 07:36 AM

I vote "meh."

I don't think we're as bad as we looked the last two weeks but I don't think we'll be as good as I thought we'd be either...

DJ's left nut 09-21-2012 07:45 AM

As I noted yesterday, we're worse than we were when Herm left.

If Pioli left today, he'd be turning over far less young premier talent than he was given when he took over. The only way the incoming GM would have as good a situation as Pioli was given would be if Baldwin became the next Bowe and Houston became the next Hali. Berry would have to develop as well as Flowers has and Brown would have to become the next Carr. Asomoah would need to be the next Wade Smith. Moeaki would need to put up 4 seasons as strong as TG has put up over the last 4 years.

Let's face it, the odds are extremely long that Scott Pioli leaves this organization in a better situation than he inherited it in...when he took over a 2-14 team.

He's awful, just awful.

I put a 2 in. They have a few good players.

I voted 3.
We would be better off to go winless for the season actually.

scho63 09-21-2012 08:15 AM

I voted for a 3 because I believe we have 85-90% of the players.

What we are missing the most is organizational and coaching plus the 4-5 players to make it the right "53", including a top notch QB, another Hali-esque pass rusher, a top cover, and some special teams help. I can't believe all our players are that bad....

Chiefnj2 09-21-2012 08:25 AM

I don't think things are quite as bad as people think. You had 1 good game of offensive playcalling and one bad. The D IMO is struggling primarily because of the sub and unfamiliarity of the secondary.

Last year by week 3 the starting secondary was: Flowers, McGraw, Lewis and Carr.
This year in game 1 it was: Reeves, Berry, Daniels and Routt. Not single player the same as the year before.

I know other teams overcome injuries (the Giants) but these are the Chiefs. Questionable drafts, talent, coaching and philosophy.

Quite frankly Pioli sucked most of the Chiefs life out of me this offseason when he didn't pursue a young QB, so I didn't/don't really have high expectations.

Ebolapox 09-21-2012 08:28 AM

the funny thing is that I always said that, given the correct coaching, herm left us a LOT of talent (that was underperforming due to lack of coaching). we're in pretty much the same goddamned position.

KC_Lee 09-21-2012 08:34 AM

Put in a 3, if we had a good coach and an energized coaching staff this team would be awesome.

Well that and a new QB...

boogblaster 09-21-2012 08:46 AM

50 - 50 here .. we might get our shit together after they pull casshole and get our D bak to play'n .....

Sofa King 09-21-2012 08:56 AM

I went with 1, but only because there will always be that small glimmer of hope that we will be good someday. When that disappears, I'll just stop watching.

through 136 votes, the weighted average vote (a vote of 10=10 points each, 9=9 points each, ...) is 1.9926 (so just below 2.0).

if we take out the outliers (seriously, two 10's? smartasses), it is 1.8731.

a long story made short, the confidence in this team is EXTREMELY low (about what I expected when I made the poll).

keep voting, folks. I'll do this later on in the year (maybe a few more times) to see how far we've come after several pivotal games.

one doesn't generally get viable data from public polls. some people are too afraid to vote for their choice and will instead vote what they believe will help them fit in best.

fwiw, rain man is considered the poll GOD around here. are any of his ever public? I don't recall a single one. as such, WOMAN69 fail :)

This is absolutely correct. Herm and KooHairIck were a pretty good team in terms of identifying talent.

Big step backward, ironically enough, with the Boston Bullshitter in town.

DMAC 09-21-2012 06:55 PM

Depends on the context. If you're voting on the best sitcom, really doesn't need to be public. This is a Chiefs board. If you can't make your opinion public, or can't stand up to the heat for your opinion, you probably shouldn't be here.

Pasta Little Brioni 09-21-2012 07:00 PM

FloridaMan88 09-21-2012 07:37 PM

There needs to be a choice of negative #'s in this poll.

The Chiefs are giant epic fail.

keep the players and the name
sell this team to the fans

One way I believe teams overcome injuries is through good depth on their roster.

That's what so frustrating about this team in that there is no depth. Pioli screwed up big time in this area.

I'm having difficulty naming an area he hasn't screwed up, you know?

Berry was probably a great pick, but even that has turned out badly (through no fault on anyone's part except that Buffalo wipe). Still, it's an open question going forward. Overall, our drafts haven't been that great. Nor has his selection of HCs. Even his FA pickups this season have yet to contribute to a win.

The stairwells are pristine, though. That's something, I guess.

It's amazing what shitty management and bad coaching does to a talented team.

The talent is there on this team and with a good management and coaching I think wonders could be made. I'd also like to add that, I believe a key element is missing on this team, that is, leadership.

Your team can have all the talent possible but if it doesn't have any leaders, they ain't winning. Its sad when I just watch the games and see how this team absolutely crumbles through the face of adversity. That reflects lack of leadership IMO.

Not only is this team devoid of talent at key positions but they are also missing leadership at key positions such as QB, MLB, etc. I'll even include coaching, upper management and ownership in there as well.

I don't think our ownership is in this thing for football. The Hunts don't seem like football first people but rather business first people. The whole mindset/approach from ownership creates disaster for everything else.

Agree with all of this Fax. I thought Carl and Herm did a better job.

Whats even worse is his stubbornness and unwillingness to make necessary changes.
