Remember when football was fun to watch?
Me neither.
My fantasy team is dead last, too. This is probably the worst year of watching football that I can remember in my young lifetime. 2008 came close, but this season feels worse than bad. It feels squandered. |
Dark times, my friend.
I wasn't a football enthusiast in the 80's, but since around 2006, I imagine that this is pretty much what those fans were feeling back then. |
I'm enjoying rooting for losses. It's like a hot summer day on the farm. Work your butt off laboring, but at night when it's cool and beautiful outside, you get to **** the sheep.
Rooting for losses = hard labor Sheep ****ing = awesome Geno Smith time |
I was thinking the same thing before the game today. After following for 23 years on the road, this is the first time I have questioned seriously why.
I was alive for the the SB can be the only answer why it took this long to ask. |
I was actually getting excited for all the games this year, was excited going into this game. After the first half, yeah, I was done. It has just become boring. I will not root for a Chiefs loss ever, but have become incredibly bored with the product on the field.
|
I enjoy my football Saturdays with K-State. Right now I am sad there isn't a NASCAR race, Royals game, collegiate field hockey game, poker game, or curling match on TV.
|
No
|
yeah, its like i root for even more blow outs. Its like if they are going to do it, do it right. I wanna see blow outs the rest of the season. Im a terrible fan i know.
|
2003?
|
I think the last time it was actually fun was the 2003 play off loss. as much as it sucked, it was fun to watch til the end at least. So, damn almost 10 years
|
I have entered this weird, dream-like state. I am ****ing amazed.
|
It is still fun to watch. You just have to adjust your expectations. Me, I figure there will be something comical and entertaining every game.

Yeah, its called Saturday.

This was fun as hell, man.
I was laughing my ass off at all the Pioli acquisitions getting their shit wasted. |

The only thing fun about the NFL anymore is reading some of the posts on CP. 2010 was fun, but only because the team was so terrible in the prior years. Now we suck again. However, I have faith that the franchise can get turned around sometime within the next decade.
|
the fun left with DV
|
Did you know that it's been nine seasons since our team finished better than 10-6? That's pretty depressing.
|
2005 was the last season I really got excited about.
|
I do, I remember when Sunday could not get here quick enough.
Now it's just another day... |
so freakin depressing. The Chiefs are so far away from even being playoff contenders
|
It's jarring to go from watching the Chiefs to watching two legitimately good teams play.
|
I ****ing love seeing Cassel fail hard...I hate him so much...I have all this hate built up for the shitty QBs and HCs and GMs that have infected us over the years and it's like it's all concentrated in him, and I watch him fail, and see his failfaces, and know that he knows now that he sucks so ****ing hard....and I smile the smile of an evil, twisted little gremlin, reveling in the failure of others.
I ****ing love the fact that I had zero hope entering this season and was rewarded so richly with this bounty of fail. Every week, I love seeing these NFL maggots get their comeuppance. Suck it hard, losers. You are the worst thing to ever happen to our franchise. We ****ing hate you, and you should feel like horrible people with vacant souls. |
To save time I will just quote myself from fb....That is basically it. After having an owner that was instrumental in uniting the AFL and the NFL to form what we now know as the NFL, having an owner that cares more about his soccer team is kind of a let down.
I really want to care about the NFL again, but until my favorite teams owner starts to care, I find it hard to care. |
I enjoy watching NCAA every Saturday.
NFL blows penis |

The day Herman was hired, this franchise died. It could be another 4-6 years before the NFL gods forgive the chiefs for hiring him and fans supporting him.

Then Freeman went HAM ON OUR ASSES in the second half and it was glorious parade of fistpumps. ****ing loved it. Love that security of being up 21-3 and having Brady Quinn out there when you need a loss. Feels good. |
sure do...and my hair wasn't grey

We weren't dead until these last four years under Pioli, who has wasted that talent. He must be fired immediately or that talent will result in nothing. |
Everyone thinking about the number one pick....Cleveland will likely be our biggest competition. They've yet to win a game, and they are worse than us...

I feel sorry for you guys.....I used to care, follow and love the Chief's....Being so far removed, the Chief's rarely being shown on tv here and the fact that I'll probably not gonna ever live in the KC area again, makes it much easier for me to just shake my head and follow another team that I'll probably see on tv...
|
I remember the suck teams of the 80's - cheering for Art Still to make a play because there wasn't much hope or talent to expect a great play from anyone else. This team feels the same way - maybe Charles breaks a run or Houston gets a sack - that's about it. You know you're going to lose, so you just hope to see your team make a play - pathetic and sad.
|
Want to know what gets me through?
The fact that when Cassel comes back (and he will).....I'll be rooting for an injury every time he drops back. I want to see him punished for what he has done to this team. |

it was still fun to watch when other teams had to fights their tails off to beat the Chiefs. these days, not so much.
|
Yes I do. It was my senior year in high school and the Chiefs had beat the Vikings in what was to be calls Super Bowl IV.

Bucs season ticket holder here in Tampa - things have been rough here, if it's any consolation. Our season was over by about the end of October or early Nov last season. Miserable. Started to count the days to draft day and Rays' Spring Training days.
|
Football hasn't been fun to watch in KC since 2003 and that wasn't really always awesome.
|
I still wonder what Herm's drafts would have been like the last 3 years here.

I agree with the posts that say when DV was around. Those were fun teams to watch.
Left early again today. Glad there is no game next week. I can do more work around the house and rake leaves. I spend a lot of time on saturday keeping up with Iowa and NWMO. |

I'm afraid Pioli staked his entire reputation and career on a life time back up QB all for nothing. We all knew Cassel was nothing special when he came to KC. He was a backup QB at USC, He was a backup QB for one the best teams in football behind one of the greatest players to ever play the game. One good year on a team that was coming off of a 16-0 season does not make a franchise player. We gave up a second round pick and a $66 million contract to a back up player. The fact that "we've" stuck with Cassel all these years is inexcusable. Scott Pioli has to go! |
The Pioli years are lost. Just crapppy uninspired football. The Chiefs will suck until the stain is erased. The DV years were fun, and frustrating. Now we're the cubs.
|
I enjoy watching that guy on the Discovery Channell get a vasectomy more than I enjoy watching the Pioli's play.
|
No. Painful to watch this garbage.
|
Yes, I remember when Marty was HC.
DT |
This is the worst. Chiefs and Missouri are equally horrible. There is no relief except to watch something else and pretend like they're not playing. Go Bears.

At least in 2008 we were blowing games in the 4th quarter. This year were getting over with much earlier. |
2003 was almost a decade ago now.

As a Chiefs & Mizzou fan, this is definitely one of the worst years in awhile. And I had some fairly high expectations for both coming in.
|
I get the pleasure of watching KU and KC.
**** football. Basketball season can't get here fast enough. |

When Schottenheimer was the coach I watched every second of every game, and I always watched the post-game press conferences because Marty was very entertaining.
With Vermeil I watched every second of every game, but I usually skipped the press conferences. Today I did yard work. I checked the score in the 4th quarter, and then I went back to doing yard work. Pioli is killing this franchise. |

2003 actually all of the Vermeil era minus the 1st season.

Chiefs still sell out all their games? Buc fans are a few seasons ahead of you - they stopped going to games since 2009. Have you gotten to that point yet?
|
Although I'm still getting up at 4am on a Monday to watch. :/
|
The Vermeil era was a lot of fun when it came to offense but man the Marty era was golden!!! Sure we blew a** come playoff time but man was the regular season and Arrowhead so great!
|
I agree that 2003 was the last fun year. There were entertaining moments in 2010.
Pioli did some good drafting after a craptastic first year draft and a couple of decent FA signings; but, otherwise, he has been a failure. His HC picks have been failures. His public relations efforts have been failures. His delusion that the Patriot Way was the "only" way was a failure. His abject ineptitude in judging QBs is an epic fail. Remarkably, this team has talent. JC, Bowe, DJ, Berry, Hali, Houston, and Flowers are Pro Bowl caliber (though I am worried about Berry). We then have a group of talented folks behind that: Albert, Winston, Baldwin, TJ, Breaston, DMC, Arenas, etc. They are just coached poorly. The coaches have to go, and that has to be laid at the doorstep of Pioli too. |
Quote:
But the good news, it is more fun to watch College football on Saturdays. |
I look at it this way.
I root for losses so that we can get a real QB If we are the worst team in the league, the entire offseason will be about us. Which would be fun. |
