More Pioli contract extension talk...

Petro is now saying that he started hearing "rumblings" of the contract extension in TWO THOUSAND TEN.

He's basically saying now that the Chiefs aren't lying - that a contract wasn't offered in the last few days.

He's basically saying that ALL of the reports, even though they appear to conflict, are probably true.

Discuss Thrower 10-15-2012 11:47 AM

Why am I thinking that people need to realize Petro, Fescoe, and Maas are entertainers and not journalists?

Bowser 10-15-2012 11:47 AM

So basically nothing is new, and he's not sure what's happening at the moment?

He's never professed to know what's going on.

Only that he's heard from multiple, reliable sources that Pioli has gotten a contract extension...

the Talking Can 10-15-2012 11:49 AM

yup, per petro...it was either signed over a year ago...or waiting to be signed at a later date

hence no current negotiations...liars aren't lying...

bevischief 10-15-2012 11:49 AM

yep.

Petro is more journalist than not; he actually does his homework and doesn't try to throw shit against the wall.

mr. tegu 10-15-2012 11:51 AM

Lacanfora is no longer a reliable source in my opinion when it comes to Pioli. I am pretty convinced Pioli "leaks" stuff to him that he wants out there.

Wonder if when Scott Pioli is fired in KC, security will escort him from the building, as so many of his underlings had to endure

Discuss Thrower 10-15-2012 11:52 AM

It just seems "easy". Claim anonymous sources, talk up a scoop for a segment or two; or even an entire show. Then when nothing happens cover your ass.

Clark should sell tickets for the public firing of Fat Scott... thousands would show up to cheer for this fat loser to be exiled from Kansas City.

Wasn't trying to flame Petro. He's the one guy I listen to when I can when it comes to KC sports talk.

So, according to Petro, Pioli is already extended? Or has he had the offer for two years and just hasn't agreed to it yet?

as i understand it, petro's source/s insist pioli is already re-signed

petro was speculating on how they might be spinning it to deny the extension...by playing semantic games with 'current negotiations'

The Franchise 10-15-2012 11:59 AM

It wouldn't surprise me if Pioli got a contract extension after 2010. The fact that we made the playoffs probably gave Chunt a hard on.

Bob Dole 10-15-2012 12:05 PM

So why would this information be leaked/shared/uncovered NOW?

mr. tegu 10-15-2012 12:07 PM

Who cares if he is extended anyways?! Fire him regardless! Even if all Clark cares about is money, Pioli is costing the team money. It is that simple. Pioli is gone.

He's not costing them money now. Season ticket sales are done, and TV revenue is stable. Now, next season...

Well that's all I really care about anyway. As long as a new GM is in place in time to hire a coach and have enough prep for the draft I'm happy.

Somebody that had the information decided now was a good time to kick Pioli while he's down?

Why did some production person at CBS decide to air footage of Pioli saying "****" over and over to Greg Schiano before the game?

Keep in mind, the conversation happened in pre-game and was aired during the 3rd quarter, so it wasn't an "accident" of live TV.

Merchandise sales? Concessions? And not every ticket was sold as season tickets. This is all small compared to the TV revenue and season tickets but it still adds up.

BigMeatballDave 10-15-2012 12:44 PM

qabbaan 10-15-2012 01:16 PM

Unless he was signed to an extension this year, it doesn't mean much. He can still be fired anytime and Clark's money bin won't miss the cash.

Supposing Clark is unhappy, which we the fans have to ensure.

Hammock Parties 10-15-2012 01:21 PM

Doesn't really matter.

He won't be here next year.

Clark is not stupid.

Imon Yourside 10-15-2012 01:26 PM

Petro said PioLLLLLi was extended and currently has 3 years left on his contract, and then he added a possibly on the end. It's the difference between owing him $5 or $15 million to get lost.

The Franchise 10-15-2012 01:27 PM

I don't care if he got a 7 year extension.....he deserves to be fired.

Brock 10-15-2012 01:28 PM

Just figure out a way to fire him for cause, then you don't have to pay him anything.

How can Clay, the anchor of the anti Pioli bandwagon still have red karma? This guy has tried to preach the truth for a long time. The karma was green about a week ago, and now is red. Must be from the Fat Scott supporters. Fat Scott supporters I have one thing to say to you:

I think he's back. Matt ****ing Millen got 8 years.

ChiefMojo 10-15-2012 02:10 PM

I could only imagine how it felt to be a Lions fan under Millen. To have the feeling I do now and prolong it for multiple more years??? I don't think I could keep my fandom that long.... f**k it who am I kidding, I cheer for the Royals!!! There isn't a cack out there big enough to fill that gap I have! My sh*t has been given deep for decades in that department.

All you guys were sitting here crowing about the Chiefs all off season and how they have a great team and will win the West. Well, If they do have talent then why do you want to fire the General Manager who assembled the talent? To me this is obviously a coaching problem way more than a GM problem.

Because the majority of the talent was here when he got here.

I've said several times that the talent on this team is completely overrated.

Guys like Allen Bailey, Jon Baldwin and Dexter McCluster are trash, and people have been hyping the shit out of them for months.

Stanford Routt is terrible, Kendrick Lewis has been tabbed as a difference maker and did nothing yesterday, our defensive line leaves much to be desired, our backup running backs have not made a single big play.

Just a very, very overrated roster.

It's actually a tad worse than that. The talent that was here is made worse by the quarterback he brought with him.

That, sadly, is the crux of the problem we have encountered.

Many were harmed, but those who are still good are nevertheless four years older and have won nothing.

We won't know anything about the talent on this offense until we get a real QB.

Those guys were drafted to mask Cassel's flaws. Big physical WR in Baldwin. A very poorman's Wes Welker in McCluster. A pass catching TE ready built for a safety valve when Cas.sel's primary target was covered up.

They didn't do jack with #7, didn't really do jack with #8 for 3 games, and looked as ineffective as replacement level players with #9 yesterday.

We have a lot of JAGs on the roster and fans should brace themselves for a long, painful rebuild.

Again.
