More Pioli contract extension talk...
 

Petro is now saying that he started hearing "rumblings" of the contract extension in TWO THOUSAND TEN.

He's basically saying now that the Chiefs aren't lying - that a contract wasn't offered in the last few days.

He's basically saying that ALL of the reports, even though they appear to conflict, are probably true.

Why am I thinking that people need to realize Petro, Fescoe, and Maas are entertainers and not journalists?

So basically nothing is new, and he's not sure what's happening at the moment?

It just seems "easy". Claim anonymous sources, talk up a scoop for a segment or two; or even an entire show. Then when nothing happens cover your ass.

It wouldn't surprise me if Pioli got a contract extension after 2010. The fact that we made the playoffs probably gave Chunt a hard on.

Who cares if he is extended anyways?! Fire him regardless! Even if all Clark cares about is money, Pioli is costing the team money. It is that simple. Pioli is gone.

He's not costing them money now. Season ticket sales are done, and TV revenue is stable. Now, next season...

Well that's all I really care about anyway. As long as a new GM is in place in time to hire a coach and have enough prep for the draft I'm happy.

Keep in mind, the conversation happened in pre-game and was aired during the 3rd quarter, so it wasn't an "accident" of live TV.

Merchandise sales? Concessions? And not every ticket was sold as season tickets. This is all small compared to the TV revenue and season tickets but it still adds up.

All you guys were sitting here crowing about the Chiefs all off season and how they have a great team and will win the West. Well, If they do have talent then why do you want to fire the General Manager who assembled the talent? To me this is obviously a coaching problem way more than a GM problem.

Because the majority of the talent was here when he got here.

I've said several times that the talent on this team is completely overrated.

Guys like Allen Bailey, Jon Baldwin and Dexter McCluster are trash, and people have been hyping the shit out of them for months.

Stanford Routt is terrible, Kendrick Lewis has been tabbed as a difference maker and did nothing yesterday, our defensive line leaves much to be desired, our backup running backs have not made a single big play.

Just a very, very overrated roster.

It's actually a tad worse than that. The talent that was here is made worse by the quarterback he brought with him.

That, sadly, is the crux of the problem we have encountered.

We won't know anything about the talent on this offense until we get a real QB.

Those guys were drafted to mask Cassel's flaws. Big physical WR in Baldwin. A very poorman's Wes Welker in McCluster. A pass catching TE ready built for a safety valve when Cas.sel's primary target was covered up.

They didn't do jack with #7, didn't really do jack with #8 for 3 games, and looked as ineffective as replacement level players with #9 yesterday.

We have a lot of JAGs on the roster and fans should brace themselves for a long, painful rebuild.

I heard this today as well. Petro is fully convinced Pioli has already had his contract extended.

And even if he does, he can still be fired.
