Ravens lose Lewis and Webb for season

OUCH!!!

They are toast-weakest 5-1 team around.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/85...-ravens-season

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 5-1 on Sunday but lost way more than they gained as both linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Lardarius Webb will miss the remainder of the season, coach John Harbaugh confirmed Monday.

Lewis suffered a "full tear" of his triceps muscle, Harbaugh said, while a torn ACL has ended Webb's year.

Webb banged his knee in a first-quarter collision with Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. Webb remained prone on the field for several minutes before being helped to the sideline.

Now in his fourth season, Webb has one interception, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery in six games this year.

Meanwhile, Haloti Ngata, the team's best player on the defensive line, suffered a torn MCL in the victory but is likely to play Sunday against the Texans, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

It is unknown how this injury affects the long-term future of Lewis, 37, who has refused to talk about his retirement plans.

Harbaugh refused to speculate about Lewis' NFL future on Monday.

"I'm not going to comment on that. That's for Ray to speak on," Harbaugh said.

Lewis led the Ravens with 14 tackles in Sunday's 31-29 win over the Cowboys.

Information from ESPN.com AFC North blogger Jamison Hensley and The Associated Press was used in this report.

In58men 10-15-2012 02:32 PM

@JayGlazer: MRI on Ray Lewis showed a complete tear of that triceps and is done for the year ... And maybe his career. What a bummer.

New World Order 10-15-2012 02:32 PM

Thank god they were healthy when we played them

Molitoth 10-15-2012 02:33 PM

Daayyummm, lewis just rehabbed an injury from last year. That sucks for him.
He will make a great inspirational assistant coach/DC at some point. The dude can make his defense play football.

but there's no money in it...he'll be on CBS/FOX

RealSNR 10-15-2012 02:35 PM

Ray Lewis needs to be a suspect in the case of his career getting killed.

ping2000 10-15-2012 02:37 PM

Chiefs carry bad luck like Typhoid Mary. Expect a few guys on Tampa to go on IR with roids next week.

He already said he wants to go back and coach at Miami.

Frazod 10-15-2012 04:28 PM

They're likely headed straight in the shitter. But that's okay, we'll save a seat for them. Misery loves company.

Literacy requirements may cause Ray to seek non-broadcast career options.

Yep. Nobody is going to fell sorry for those scumbags. **** em.

mnchiefsguy 10-15-2012 04:33 PM

Sucks to be them, but that is football.

tk13 10-15-2012 04:52 PM

Houston may win the AFC by default by this point. Or the door finally swings open for the Chargers.

Chiefs Pantalones 10-15-2012 04:55 PM

I thought I overheard the crowd cheering when Lewis went down. Classless.

Phobia 10-15-2012 05:00 PM

It was as though Lewis' tricep were just sliced right off the bone.

jspchief 10-15-2012 05:04 PM

End of an era. I know he's unpopular here, but Lewis was a singular talent. Perhaps one of the best MLB of all time. NFL fans will miss him.

BossChief 10-15-2012 05:07 PM

Now its time to see how good Ozzie Newsome/Decosta and Joe Flacco really are.

Next man up.

Bump 10-15-2012 05:10 PM

I admire Ray Lewis, I think he's the best MLB of all time. He'll be on the sidelines leading that team and firing them up. They'll still be alright. He's a leader of men.

Hammock Parties 10-15-2012 05:10 PM

I think this is the end for Ray Ray.

the moment they eventually do, though, Id be on the horn offering to make him the highest paid DC in the league.

He would murder the rest of the AFC West.

You think Ray Ray is going to go into assistant coaching? LMAO

He will be one of the best on-air personalities ever.

3 or 4 million a year to coach a defense would be hard to pass up.

Oh, no doubt.

The networks will be knocking each other over for his services.

Woodchuck 10-15-2012 05:22 PM

I think they could still win the Superbowl. Even with the injuries. Ray had definately lost a step this year anyway.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-15-2012 05:23 PM

The entire AFC is pretty much a sack of shit, so they may make a Bowl.

He'll help, but they were having issues vs the run before these injuries.

Lucky for them they are 5-1. They just won 2 games they should have lost.

The pressure is on Flacco.

jd1020 10-15-2012 05:25 PM

The Ravens lose a couple of defensive players and all of a sudden they are done. I thought Flacco was suppose to be a franchise QB now.

Shut up Dave. What do you know.

They were having issues in run defense before Ray got injured.

They're lucky to be in the situation they're in now. With some lucky bounces they could've been at 3-3.

Their QB is going to have to lift this team on his shoulders moving forward.

Hammock Parties 10-15-2012 05:31 PM

You think Ray Lewis has literacy problems? Just listen to this.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QO-XM4JMeAI?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

He's very well spoken.

Bronco fan making literacy smack after we've had to listen to that sack of shit TE for YEARS LMAO

He's very well spoken.

The term "literacy" usually applies to a person's ability to read and write. The ability to speak does not make someone literate.

From what I've seen of Flacco this year, his passing epiphany boils down to testing 1 on 1 deep matchups, often. He just throws it up and lets Torrey Smith battle for it. I can see it all going bad at any time.

If Cam Cameron was smart, he'd already be leaning on that running game more.

Deffo. I hope he comes back and plays until he's 45, just so I don't have to deal with the idea of an NFL without Ray Lewis. Shit's going to be so weird.
