MSN Redzone breaks down the Bucs game

Bill Maas pretty much laid it at the feet of the coaches. Said too many of the "little things" are just not being done. One example was receivers having their hands palm up when catching as opposed to palms out.

Bashed DJ for not getting into Vincent Jackson coming off the line when Jackson scored a TD.

Bashed on Lewis on 2 plays for not "looking like he wants to hit someone"

Got on Berry for being too far off of Vincent Jackson on a TD play

Said opposing defenses have to do only two things to shut down our offense..

1. Stack the box against the run
2. Roll pass coverage towards Bowe

Good things he said...

Said some good things about Houston

Said Daboll looks like he is trying to be a little creative to get the ball in the hands of other people, pointed out the TE screen to Maneri on that one

Said Quinn did some good things even though he doesn't buy the "rusty" excuse. But he showed Quinn talking to the line on the sidelines and not just gong and sitting down by himself (Shot at CasseLLLLLLLLL)

Said Quinn had some good passes and though he did say Quinn is not the answer he pretty much thinks he can be better than CasseLLLLLLLLL

Mitch Holthus pointed out that Quinn was getting the ball out quick and avoiding the negative pass plays.

Maas also pretty much bashed the front office and eluded to PioLLLLLi being a cancer when coaches and players don't want to come to this team because of who the GM is

The Franchise 10-15-2012 05:39 PM

Kendrick Lewis ****ing sucks. We need a real FS.

petegz28 10-15-2012 05:41 PM

Maas also pointed that Pioli "may" be good at scouting talent on the field but that's not enough, it has to be about chemistry

Am I reading this wrong?

I agree with most of that, but defending Dumboll is a bridge too far... creative?

LMMFAO... thats why he threw to dex on 3rd & 15, or ran it on 2nd & 1 from the buc 30, after quinn had completed some decent passes on the drive.

No guts, buh bye dumboll.

No, his point was when you have your plams up it leads to pased being tipped up as opposed to having your palms facing out

Yeah, I thought it was a bit of a reach. He wasn't praising him or anything but did mention that

I get the point, but wouldn't you want your palms in?

Woodchuck 10-15-2012 05:48 PM

I can't give Quinn any credit. He looked just like Cassel to me. Overthrowing and underthrowing receivers. Even on screen passes.

I think it's more of an inbetween you want your palms mostly facing the ball

Meh, it was his first game in a few years. I'll cut him a touch of slack. And regardless, I'd rather watch him than Cassel.

We will have a top 5 pick, and the HoneyBadger will probably be available from LSU......

So the ball doesn't bounce off the back of your hands?

It was for jd1020.

It's not so much in between, your palms face out so the soft part of your hands is the first thing to touch the ball.
If your palms face in, the ball would hit the backs of your hands. Palms up means you are trying to trap the ball in your chest, and often results in the ball being batted up.
It's high school receiver type stuff.

That's what I was saying but really you don't have your palms facing squarely to the ball. I was always taught you form kind of a funnel with your hands. I think we are splitting hairs here.

Mother****erJones 10-15-2012 06:19 PM

IMO Quinn was far better than Cassel. Still had poor oline play not allowing Quinn much time to throw. WRs suck!! Baldwin continues to try acrobatic catches. Bowe still dropping balls. DMC still giving the ball up

First, the "Honey Badger" doesn't play FS. He will only play inside as a nickel or dime back. Additionally, his man coverage skills are more dismal than Javier Arenas. If you feel like using a top 5 pick on a punt returner/overrated nickel/dime back, go right ahead Matt Millen.

Yes, you have to be extremely creative to figure out how to throw 30 times in 7 yards or less.

So that loser Bill Maas is still around? I remember a few years ago he took a Woody Paige article practically verbatim and tried to pass it off as his own.

Quote:

Maas lifted whole sections of a column he wrote for the Kansas City Sports Weekly directly from a piece written by Denver Post columnist Woody Paige. As if that weren't bad enough, the Kansas City Star ran the Paige column on the front of its sports section on Jan. 3.

From Maas: "...Who is the best running back from Lincoln High in San Diego, KC's Marcus Allen or Denver's Tyrell (sic) Davis? Who is the King, Elvis or Elway? Will it be a turnover that wins this game or a "Vanover" that wins it?"

How so? We are talking about making a catch. I'm not talking about your palms in as in towards your body. I'm talking about palms in in relation to the ball. Up - I'm trying to trap the ball against my body. In - I'm creating an "O" with my index fingers and thumbs and letting the ball slide in. Out, to me, sounds like you are signaling someone to stop or something.
