I know some might think of me as a n00b. However, I am a long time lurker and have seen the great power chiefsplanet has on rigging online contest. A friend and I are in a singer songwriter contest to play on Jimmy Kimmel live and win $10,000 dollars. I need your help in liking our facebook page and our youtube video. Everytime someone likes our page or video it counts as a vote. Your help will be greatly appreciated and if we do end up winning. There will be a big donation towards chiefsplanet and the SOC movement. We are called East Gardens and the song we entered is called Free Man. All of our songs are originals. We have more songs than we know what to do with. Just not the time or money to record. We actually recorded these on a camera. No, not a video camera an actual regular camera that happened to take video.

Thank You... It was hard to pick which one to enter. Free man was our newest song (actually just wrote it that week) so we went with that one. We are kind of ADD in that aspect. I'm planning on putting up more videos on youtube when we get the time. Oh, and all feedback and votes are greatly appreciated. :D

Honestly I don't really know who we sound like... We definitely have Nirvana roots but are probably more southern rock. It really depends on what song we are playing.

I know... Wish I had the money to invest. Times are really tuff right now financially. We would of liked to play on stage and recorded but the contest is suppose to be singer oriented with a guitar as back up. So we recorded 3 of our songs and hoped for the best.

Your guitar intros are way too long. Gets kind of boring after a bit. Cut them down or make them do something interesting.

Worked for AC/DC. I actually already have some songs in a-minor. One of our most popular songs come to think of it. You might be on to something. :thumb:

First off, the music is good and has a lot of potential. Find yourself a drummer and bassist and make it bigger!

Some easy tips to make your video better: (This is all just my opinion)

*Get the camera off yourselves and place it on something else, like a sign on the wall. When people CAN'T judge you for your clothes, mustache, hand movements, or whatever... then it FORCES them to listen to the MUSIC... and leaves open the imagination for the listener. If the listener feels so inclined to figure out what your personal appearance is, they will research it. This leaves the listener wanting more, like wanting to come and see your performance live. So start booking some gigs and save your performance for a live audience.

If you do keep yourself on camera:
*Don't read your lyrics to the camera.
*Change the video to black and white and add some vintage style distortion.
*Put the camera at somewhat of a weird angle instead of so straight on.

Son, we all need the power of Chiefs Planet, but sometimes God does not answer the call.

All very good suggestions. Since you are a long time lurker then you'll understand that we at CP are not shy about being honest with our team members. So if I may offer a few suggestions from the view of a pig farmer that spends most of his time well, ummm, doing the five knuckle shuckle with his livestock.

#1 ) Not sure if that was you singing or not but whoever it is needs to be replaced. I could understand very few words and it sounded more like a seal that was in heat.

#2) The guitar player probably needs more guitar lessons. The same chord over and over and over and over and over again.

#3) You should wear underwear. I could see your wee wee.

#4) Buy a decent pair of jeans. Did you find those in a dumpster when you were looking for some shoes.

#5) :shake:

Those are some really good ideas and will definitely incorporate into our next video. (I especially like the black and white idea) I wrote the first song that week so the singer didn't know the words yet. (I didn't like him holding the lyrics either) We have recordings with just audio but we recorded these to enter in this contest, so we were trying to follow their guidelines.

I am actually writing a song called Comfortable Chaos. (Which might end up being the name of our cd). Right now however our cd is called Fated to Fail. But I'll leave it up to chiefs planet if they have any suggestions.
