The chase for the #1 overall pick
First off, no this isn't intended to be a kick to the nuts... I read the other article that was posted and when looking at the 2, 3 and 4 win teams with 4 games to go - things could get interested if KC and/or JAX decide to win 2 of 4.
KC is set up well with 3 of 4 road games. Jags have a mixed schedule. Eagles, Raiders and Panthers... they're only 1 game out and anything happens if KC or JAX wins 2. Browns, Cards and Lions all have interesting matchups as well that (depending on how the tiebreakers work out), maybe they're all in the mix as well. It's going to be a nail biting 4 weeks for those hoping to get the #1 pick. (ok, that last part was a kick in the nuts) KC (2-10) @ Browns @ Raiders Colts @ Broncos Jags (2-10) Jets @ Dolphins Patriots @ Titans Eagles (3-9) @ Bucs Bengals Redskins @ Giants Raiders (3-9) Broncos Chiefs @ Panthers @ Chargers Panthers (3-9) Falcons @ Chargers Raiders @ Saints Browns (4-8) Chiefs Redskins @ Broncos @ Steelers Cardinals (4-8) @ Seahawks Lions Bears @ 49ers Titans (4-8) @ Colts Jets @ Packers Jags Lions (4-8) @ Packers @ Cardinals Falcons Bears Chargers (4-8) @ Steelers Panthers @ Jets Raiders |
Geno Smith or bust
|
The Cardinals quickly went south after their 4-0 start. And, looking at that list - yes, Denver needs to finish strong because the other 3 teams are all in contention for the #1 pick, so that's not a ringing endorsement by any means for the division.
|
Something tells me the Raiders will sneak ahead of us.
|
Quinn will finally show his god given talent . We end up 5-11
|
My gut tells me the Chiefs win 1 more game.
|
I just have this nagging feeling that the Raiders are going to get it and we're gonna pick 3rd or 4th. :(

I think the Eagles get it. No way they win a game with that remaining schedule.
Hopefully the Chiefs go back to sucking for the rest of the year. |
we are going to beat the browns and raiders and go 4-12 and get the #5 pick or some shit, drafting some lineman and live in misery forever.

The Chiefs will somehow fuck this up and we will not get Geno. =/

I hope. |
If we tie with the Raiders.....who wins the tie breaker?

I don't know any of that for sure, but that's how I see it. |

Our biggest competition is going to be Oakland and Philly.

The only thing that could possibly stop Richardson is if he trips himself on his boner to see these guys coming to town |

Plus their defense is actually playing pretty well. |
Eagles.
|
I've got a bad feeling, that we're going to end the year on a winning streak and pick in the 5 range. Hello Manti Te'o.
Worst possible outcome... |
Goddamn do we ever need to lose on Sunday. This is depressing.
|
The talent at 10 is just as good as the talent at 1. they aren't that far apart...so WTF does it really matter?

Unless you just have major wood for Geno... this could be a good thing. |

We're the Chiefs. It's what we do. |

That game against the Raiders will be the most important Chief game in a LONG time. |

I can't really fault them for that. I wouldn't have taken Kapernick, either, not in the range we're talking about.
|
Drafts are funny though, especially when you look at the top of the draft... hell, the rookie cap makes things much easier for teams. And, if you have a big need at a given position (say QB) and you take him 10-12 spots higher than the experts project, so be it. If that's your need - go fill it.

The next two weeks loom large for us.
|
Quote:
Difference 1. Chiefs play the Raiders while the Raiders play the Chiefs. But we don't care about the tiebreaker unless the have identical records. These cancel out. Diffence 2. AFC east opponents. We play the Bills while the Raiders play Miami. Small difference by the end of the season. Difference 3. AFC South opponents. We play the Colts while the Raiders play Jacksonville. The Colts are going to have a much stronger record than Jax by the end of the season. This difference will be decisive. We will have the stronger SOS and will draft after the Raiders if we are tied. |
The thought of Geno Smith in silver and black makes me sick.
We need to lose these next two games really badly. |

Then it goes back to Aaron Murray and Matt Barkley. No me gusta |

Current 2013 NFL Draft order – 12/3/12
With just four weeks to go in the 2012 NFL season, it’s likely going to go down to the last week of the season to see who will own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The current draft order is below along with the tiebreaker, which is opponent’s win/loss record: 1. Kansas City – 2-10 (.505) 2. Jacksonville – 2-10 (.552) 3. Oakland – 3-9 (.464) 4. Philadelphia – 3-9 (.510) 5. Carolina – 3-9 (.516) 6. San Diego – 4-8 (.484) 7. Cleveland – 4-8 (.516) 8. Tennessee – 4-8 (.536) 9. Arizona – 4-8 (.552) 10. Detroit – 4-8 (.563) 11. Buffalo – 5-7 (.490) 12. New Orleans – 5-7 (.503) 13. Miami – 5-7 (.510) 14. New York Jets – 5-7 (.516) 15. St. Louis – 5-6-1 (.526) 16. Tampa Bay – 6-6 (.466) 17. St. Louis (from Washington) – 6-6 (.497) 18. Dallas – 6-6 (.516) 19. Minnesota – 6-6 (.531) 20. Cincinnati – 7-5 (.453) 21. Pittsburgh – 7-5 (.464) 22. Seattle – 7-5 (.495) 23. New York Giants – 7-5 (.513) 24. Indianapolis – 8-4 (.469) 25. Chicago – 8-4 (.495) 26. Green Bay – 8-4 (.510) 27. San Francisco – 8-3-1 (.495) 28. Denver – 9-3 (.448) 29. Baltimore – 9-3 (.500) 30. New England – 9-3 (.510) 31. Atlanta – 11-1 (.396) 32. Houston – 11-1 (.500) |

Holy snap..our entire division is drafting in the top ten as of today

We want Geno, we can not win another game.
Jacksonville will not win another game this year! |
Quote:
|
We will draft before Jacksonville...thats not my worry.
That game against Oakland is gonna be for the top pick. |
Quote:
If they win, it will be the Jets home game. We will screw it up and win 2 more games. |

The Eagles actually have a pretty good shot at it.

When the Browns roll us this weekend while the Jags beat down McElroy and the Jets....the optimism will be back.

It's the 2nd straight road game in a 2-game road trip. We'll get crushed. Especially against a team that has owned us for four seasons, barring Kyle Boller starts. |
I voted before looking at the Eagles schedule. Yikes.
|
we are finishing 4-12
|
Quote:
I won't have optimism until we lose to the Raiders in 2 weeks. If we win then I believe we're screwed. |
I believe we still end up with the top pick and grab Geno but there are even some scenarios where we don't get the #1 pick but still end up with him. I don't think we need to panic.
Not only that but it won't be the end of the world if we grab a stud defender with our first and grab a qb with our second. Check out whats going on in seattle right now. For the record though i'd prefer we went Geno/Austin/Amerson and yeah we'd probably have to trade up at some point to make that all happen. |

The Chiefs schedule is too easy. I can see them beating Cle, Oak, and even Indy. And who knows about the Denver game, we might not have anything to play for.
|

Sadly, it is looking most likely that we will get the #3 pick. The Jags have only one winnable game (Jets), which leaves them at 3-13. The Raiders might beat the Chiefs or Panthers, but their team is a bigger mess than ours. If they lose to the Chiefs at home, they are in the driver's seat.
Sadly, we have a chance to beat both the Browns and the Raiders. I think we probably beat the Raiders and have to hope that the Jags and Raiders find a win somewhere. |

Hello Manti Te'o.....
:deevee: |
Eagles get my vote! Andy Reid announced that Nick Foles will start the remainder of the season, and he sucks! Reid said that it is the right decision given the position of the team at this point in the season. Translation: The Eagles have committed to tanking!

They're just as probable as the Chiefs beating the Raiders (again, I repeat myself, this is a DIVISION GAME, where both teams usually suck themselves to death) or the Browns (who are a bad team but are playing better as of late just like us, and will also be getting us in the second week of a two-game road trip). The Colts and Donks games are near unwinnable as long as both teams are fighting for playoff seeding, which I think is likely for both. |

people saying we wouldn't win another game simply don't understand how much the football universe hates us. |
No, Foles sucks. Kevin Kolb was a more talented QB.
Eagles will need a new guy. |
Quote:
they are also quietly vying for the #1 spot :cuss: |
All the 4 win teams are basically out.
If the Chiefs lose to the Faiders then Oakland is basically out. Chiefs,Jags,Philly .... with Chiefs controlling their own destiny |
I think every team has 2 winnable games on their schedule. I would hate for the Raiders to get the first pick again, unless its a bust.
|
Looks like Raiders have 3 winnable games (counting Chiefs)
Jags have 1 winnable game Chiefs have 2 winnable games (counting Raiders) I would say odds are Jags. |
