He's done a great job with Atlanta's offense this year, I'll give him that. They have become a pass oriented team. Of course Julio Jones and Roddy White are beasts, so there's that.

KCSPORTSNUT 12-31-2012 11:59 AM

Koetter has an impressive resume and John Elway was so impressed he almost hired him over John Fox.

Koetter was the head coach at Highland High School for two seasons (1983–1984) before becoming a full-time college assistant coach. His college coaching career began in 1985 as the offensive coordinator at San Francisco State University. He then coached at UTEP (1986–1988), Missouri (1989–1993), Boston College (1994–1995), and Oregon (1996–1997).
Koetter was the head coach for three seasons at Boise State from 1998–2000, before moving to Arizona State in 2001. His record with the Broncos was 26–10 (.722), with two Big West Conference titles and two bowl victories. At Arizona State, Koetter compiled a 40–34 record, and four winning seasons in six years. Under Koetter, the Sun Devils became known for a vertical passing attack. He held a 1–11 record against top 10 teams, and was 2–19 against ranked teams. On November 26, 2006, The Arizona Republic reported that Koetter was being terminated as ASU football coach.[1] His final game was the 2006 Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve, a 41–24 loss.
In 2007, Koetter accepted the position of offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL. In his first season with the Jaguars, the offense improved from tenth in the league (338.9 yards per game) to seventh (357.4 yards per game). Koetter has been instrumental in the development of Jaguars offensive players Maurice Jones-Drew, Mike Sims-Walker, and Marcedes Lewis. Koetter was named, in addition to his duties as offensive coordinator, as the team's quarterbacks coach on November 30, 2011, with the firing of wide receivers coach Johnny Cox and the switch of quarterbacks coach Mike Sheppard to wide receivers coach.
On January 15, 2012, Koetter was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.

He's white as Gandalf the White. And trust me did ATL's offense look any different than it did last year? A resounding no. He sucked major dick in Jax. It was run, run, pass (pass for less than 5 yards) EVERYTIME. In a season he'd pass on first down maybe 7 times and I'm not kidding. RUN ON FIRST was basically his motto, it was bullshit.

RealSNR 12-31-2012 12:02 PM

You're losing me, Clark.

Fire Pioli and I won't care. But you're doing that thing again where you're searching out for guys connected to guys to make yourself feel better about keeping your buddy on board.

Yes it did. They were a much more pass oriented offense this year. That's why they brought him in. They went from something like 11th in rushing attempts last year to near the bottom of the league this year. They nearly became one of the few teams in football history with three 1000 yard receivers.

I'm guessing with the Falcons having a successful year teams will interview him if for nothing more than to see how their operation is run and what kind of a guy Koetter is. Their offense was pretty explosive. And that was with Julio being in and out of the lineup for much of the year. Not sure what point you're trying to make because this wasn't some sort of vanilla offense or bad playcalling.

They'd get a lead.....and then take the foot off of the gas. He forced the ball to Turner in an attempt to establish a run game.....instead of actually playing to his player's strengths.

When the stakes are if the new coach will want to keep or get rid of Pioli, it clearly helps that he be totally 100% removed from the Patriots. Especially when the link is as clean as one single thread to Tom Dimitroff.

Normally I wouldn't give a shit and would just look at the coach for what he could be. Not while Scott still has a job, though. Not now.
