Jeremiah Trotter: “Andy Reid got out-coached in a lot of games”
Sour Grapes?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-lot-of-games/ Jeremiah Trotter played a total of seven seasons for Andy Reid in three different stints with the Eagles. And he thinks he lost a lot of games because Reid got out-coached. “If it came down to both teams were even, talent-wise, I think the opponent’s team would win if it came down to coaching,” Trotter said on 97.5 The Fanatic, via Philly.com. “Andy Reid got out-coached in a lot of games, man, a lot of big games,” Trotter continued. “Time outs, running the football, you know.” Trotter said Reid’s offensive style made things different for the defense and the late defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, who ran the defense in Philadelphia until his death in 2008. “As a defense, we understood we passed the ball too much. You know, there’s times we’re sitting over there like, ‘Man, listen. Just get us a couple of first downs so we can get a break.’ And I’m sure it frustrated Jim Johnson also,” Trotter said Still, Trotter acknowledges that he won a lot of games during his time with Reid, and he says he would have given Reid a 7.5 or 8 on a scale of 1-10. I shudder to think what he’d say about a coach who was a 1. |

Some Eagles fan posted on another relative of mines FB today that "Reid has no business being on an NFL sideline" WTF? Understandably alot of Eagles fans are bitter because he never won a title, but come on..... |
then why did he give him a 7.5 or 8 out of 10 as a coach? Maybe in a sport with high head injuries, we shouldnt go by what the players think?
|
Trotter is expressing the same concerns I expressed about Reid.

Reid does have Herm like clock management, so that will be painful. |
It's not too surprising that a defensive player would have some issues with a pass-happy coach.
|
Reid will work to get a QB. Reid knows what he needs to win. Not sure of the perfect coach...i.e.. drafts picks always pan out, wins everything.... maybe we shouldnt hire a coach until we find that guy.

Only in your dumbshit mind is that even a credible comparison. You are also the same dumbshit who wants the Chiefs to get Drew Stanton (the same Drew Stanton who hasn't been in any game action since 2010) as a veteran back-up QB. What is your fetish for people who vanish from NFL view for years at a time? Trestman has been out of the NFL for close to 10 years Stanton hasn't seen the field in 3 years. Yet you are pushing both of them. You obviously need an increase in whatever medication you are taking to semi (keyword SEMI) function in life. You old, wrinkled, rotting, one foot in the grave piece of shit. |

Andy Reid really did get out-coached in a lot of big games. I said in my pros and cons post that he coaches tight in big games. He coaches conservatively. That doesn't mean he isn't a good coach. He definitely is.
But I'm trying to give it to the Chiefs fans straight and give you the best and most honest view of Reid I can, whether it be positive or negative. I'll point out his strengths and weaknesses. Coaching in big games was definitely a weakness. That said, he won a lot of playoff games, but man, some of them were ugly performances. Even the wins. |

Vermeil was out of the NFL for one season when the Chiefs hired him. Also when the Rams hired him out of an extended retirement, he at least had NFL HC experience to fall back on. Trestman is a 30 year NFL assistant coach who couldn't get a sniff of a HC job in the NFL or college (he tried desperately to get a job in both). What about Trestman makes you think he'd be a worthy NFL HC prospect? Why is it that there are 7 NFL HC openings and no one is considering Trestman for an interview? Let's hear you explain your rationale for why you think Trestman is a good HC prospect. |
My friend is an Eagles season ticket holder. Here is his brief comment on Ried as a coach.
"Reid is a significant upgrade to Crenell. he is a good coach but can get into a rut and does not always pick the best assistants. He will make the Chiefs a better team. That being said, I would be worried if he brings Marty morningweig, Bobby april, or Todd Bowles with him. They stink." |

That's not necessarily true. Reid started off picking an incredible coaching staff. In his later years, he made major mistakes. Hiring Jim Washburn put the wheels to his departure in motion. It was a cataclysmic disaster.
