Not sure if I like this new style, looks somewhat Japanese like a Nissan or something.

Me too... Then I woke up, realized I was married, have kids, and I bought all the jewelry. So no...

I like the C6 design, never really liked the flip up headlights.

This new C7 design is radical, almost too much.

Dayze 01-15-2013 01:11 PM

I'd bet it's near zo6 pricing but not as high as a zr1 .

And it'll be like when the dodge Viper first came out and people were paying 10s of thousands above msrp.

I want a used vette so bad. Just as my fun car. No rain. Just for fun driving and cruising. Maybe in a couple of years

Woah.

That car is freakin' beautiful. The lateral lines on it are spectacular.

TEX 01-15-2013 01:29 PM

AT first glance I like the exterior EXCEPT from the back - the lights look a little too "Camaroish." The little stingray emblem on the side looks kinda cool...I keep hearing about the "much improved interior" but that's where the car really loses me. What's the deal with the curve on passenger side dashboard? It doesn't flow well with dash as a whole. It looks like two different guys designed each side and put it together last minute. I'll just have to see a few out on the road. I'm not sure if I like it or if I just like the "newness" of it. However, I am looking forward to seeing how it performs.

I stopped liking Vette's in the late 80's and really love the Vettes and Stingrays of the late 50's and 60.

This new car just blew me away. I think it's a bold change but for me, it looks incredible and if I could afford a second car like this, I would buy it.

Most expectations I have read on blogs have it starting around $50k. Though I agree there will likely be an initial shortage with sales prices decently over MSRP.

that stingray I didn't like at first but the more I looked at it just grabs your attention, sure it's gonna cost $80,000 +

Here's some more info for ya.

Today is an exciting day for sports car enthusiasts: The new 2014 Corvette Stingray has been unveiled and it looks absolutely amazing! For a lot of people, actually getting behind the wheel of one of these mean machines is just a dream, but for some with a sizable income, the dream could become a reality.

For those who would like to buy a new Corvette, there’s no doubt it will cost a pretty penny. So how much would you pay every month if you got an auto loan for the 2014 Corvette Stingray?
The New 2014 C7 Corvette Is Here

Though 2013 has just begun, it’s not too soon to get excited about the 2014 Corvette Stingray, also known as the C7.

The car, which was unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, has already been deemed the best model-over-model change in decades. Why? Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it packs some impressive features:

6.2-liter LT1 pushrod V8 engine
450 horsepower / 450 pound-feet of torque
0-60 in less than four seconds

The 2014 Corvette will come in either the six-speed automatic or new seven-speed Tremec TR6070 manual gearbox. While the EPA has yet to rate it, its base manual transmission is expected to fall into the 16/26 mpg.
Can You Afford an Auto Loan on the Corvette C7?

So now you’re probably asking yourself whether you can afford to get your hands on one. Let’s take a look at what you might pay if you financed the 2014 Corvette with a 20 percent down payment and a good credit score:

Edmunds.com is estimating that the vehicle will cost in the ballpark of $54,000 — a bit more than the base 2013 Corvette coupe 1LT and around the same price as the Ford Shelby GT500.

Auto loan rates today reach as low as 1.75% APR for individuals with good credit. If you make a 20 percent down payment, you’re left financing $43,200.

Using the Go Banking Rates Auto Loan Payment Calculator, if you finance for five years, you’re looking at an average payment of $752.48 per month.

Now, let’s say you stretch the payments out for six years. Your cost will drop down to $632.48 — more affordable, but still costly.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray could be considered affordable by some, but mainly individuals who bring in enough income to cover rent/mortgage payments and other major costs with plenty leftover. There’s no doubt that this car would be a thrill to drive, but before signing on the dotted line, it’s best to be sure you can truly afford its high price tag.

Valiant 01-15-2013 10:21 PM

From my understanding they will be priced cheaply compared to past models.. So you will be able to get them cheaper then most sports cars of equal comparison..

When I was little the only sports car I loved were the stingray.. this car is jimp worthy, but sadly, not in my budget..

Beautiful car..

Heh, I don't know what this model is like, but back in the late 80s I worked at a detail shop, and I drove a few C4s and those goddamn things were hard enough to get into when I was young and spry. Can't imagine trying to contort myself into one now.

Exactly.

That kind of money would by you 1 Nice muscle car. In fact, it would by you 1/2 of a show-caliber car.

It would buy you 2 drivers. My '67 is a driver car and it looks sharp as hell from 5 feet away, but it's nothing close to that Vette in performance and at best I'd be able to get 2 of them for the cost of the Vette.

(now comes me shamelessly showing off the Camaro...sorry)

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/pictu...pictureid=1259

If you're looking for your absolute best performance for your dollar, it's damn near impossible to beat the Corvette. When you don't hand-stitch the leather or use purpose-built key-fobs, suddenly you have a performance machine that can keep up with a $300K exotic that you and I can actually afford to purchase, maintain and fuel.

I'd rather have a used low mileage Ferrari 360 Modena for about 80K.

The sound from the Tubi exhaust is amazing.

Just love the glass engine bonnet.

But you'll be able to get a used, low mileage Stingray in a couple of years for 30K.

And a used ZR1 would torch that Modena.

I like a vet but even the mac daddy stock vet wouldn't touch my TA. Not only was it super clean but it ran 10.8s on motor and in theory deep into the 9s on spray, (built for spray, never unleashed) and it was a full street car with a/c, power steering, leather, etc etc. Could drive it to the track and run 10s, then drive it home.

Had 12.5k in it, and sold it for 12.5k. Free racecar!

You are 100% correct. The Corvette is the most affordable super car on the planet.

I am in the middle of an extensive build on my 65' Chevy II and am probably putting a new GMPP 525hp LS3 motor in it which is a slightly hopped up version of the Camaro and Vette motor.

500+HP LS motor, 5 speed Tremec TKO600 trans, 4 wheel disk brakes, TCI front touring clip with power rack. All new stuff. Its going to be nice.
http://paceperformance.com/i-7739382...-shipping.html

I should have just bought a Vette, would have been cheaper. :D

DJ's left nut 01-16-2013 03:07 PM

My buddy built a 6-figure '68 and he dropped a crate "M-Block" motor in it that bolted into the small-block engine bay but produces large-block power.

It's a pretty amazing motor (hell, the car is incredible).

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/pictu...pictureid=1261

His car is a no-shit show car, though. He's brought home a couple of good-guys builders choice trophies, etc... It's an amazing ride. It took 9 years to finish, but an incredible vehicle nonetheless.

I currently have a Dart Little M 427 SBC motor that I took out of the car. It has 3,000 miles on it. I just want an LS motor really bad.

PM me if you are interested in the 427 I am looking to sell it. :D

I tell you, I'd love it. The problem is that A) The suspension in my car is stock from a '67, so it's not like I can take advantage of the power and B) I gotta believe that thing would tear my 700R4 transmission apart.

I wouldn't mind a little more intel on the motor if you want to shoot me a PM though. I was pretty amazed by the specs on my buddy's.

So you went with the LS motor instead of the Dart, eh? I really thought the Dart was the way people were trending these days.

I had a year two Viper...which was really the first year they were driven since the initial order (in 91 if I remember correctly) mainly went to collectors who never drove them. I didn't pay a premium, and it was a fun ride, but a car without a usable second gear that had a removable top that took four people a half hour to put on curbed my enthusiasm...I'm looking forward to the new NSX personally...

That's the problem with exotics and why most of them have very few miles on them when they get resold.

The cost to maintain is ludicrous.

Most have to take the engine out to service them, usually around 5-10K for a complete service depending on if 8 or 12 cylinder.

Vette's can be daily drivers, exotics not.

shit...the 4v Ducati adjustments are anywhere from like 500-800.
...and that's for 8 valves total. lol I can't imagine what it would be on a Ferrari or Lambo; or any other engine that uses Desmo valve actuation.

which is why, if I ever get a Duc, I'm getting the 2v and doing it myself.

It's a pretty amazing motor (hell, the car is incredible).

His car is a no-shit show car, though. He's brought home a couple of good-guys builders choice trophies, etc... It's an amazing ride. It took 9 years to finish, but an incredible vehicle nonetheless.

is this dave's camaro?

Yup.

Thing is amazing. Still has a couple of gremlins, but an absolute monster. If you want I can PM you the facebook address for the builder. It's a complete build history from the old black junker to that thing.

Kevin did a fantastic job...in just a hair under a decade.

He saw 'em on a Challenger, liked them and put them on there. He also had the scoop painted like an RT. He wanted something that looked a little different than every other Camaro out there.

I'd have gone with a simple hockey stripe and matching SS stripes or maybe just the hockey stripe and painted cowl, but his idea looks pretty good (even though it's a clear MOPAR stripe).

So as not to go full hijack:

I still think it's bad ass; I would kill to have something like that.

I also like the old Yenko stripes

Yeah, I think those look sharp, but if you want to really piss off a car guy, slap Yenko stripes on a regular Camaro...

The hockey stripes were my happy medium. I wouldn't build a ripoff (even if they look fantastic), but that styling is sharp as hell. A hockey stripe captures some of it without making you a classic car pariah.
