I had a near death expirence
I passed two kidney stones this morning at 2 AM. First time that's ever happened to me. It was by far the worst pain I've ever dealt with.
Anybody else had this happen? I had to cut in front of 7 people because of the pain I was in. I felt horrible, but could not take that shit. |
I've had women tell me it's more painful than birth in some cases. Thank God I have never had them.
|
Solution: Drink more water and less soda.
You made it ma man, congrats. |
No thank you I will pass er I mean do not want to go through that.
Glad it came out ok for you. |
I average 1-2 a year.
Went off caffeine for a couple of years, and they decreased in frequency, but INcreased in size. I drink caffeine whenever I want, now. Doc says the kidneys filter less well as I get older, so expect the stones to decrease. |
My brother had one and he said the pain was unbearable.
I've had another extrememe pain: Pancreatitis The pain lasted for HOURS and it felt like someone was cutting your entire abdomen with a dull knife. A cramp so intense it makes you cry. For me on a scale of 1-10 it was around a 15. |
Let's just say that if there's a Mother ****in Kidney Stone Passin Club President, I'd be qualified and I don't like it.
When you arrive at the hospital sweating, puking your guts out from the pain and looking like you just took a serious ass kickin, they give you enough drugs to make you not give a shit about anything. I swear they sent me down the hall one time with my ass hanging out for a catscan. Didn't care. |

Had a 10mm kidney stone a couple years ago. It was blocking the ext from my kidney and the pain was unbearable. Had it broken up with lithotripsy and passed it without much trouble.
The only pain I experienced was when it was traveling from the kidney to the bladder. I guess it hurt a little when it passed from my bladder but it was 1/1000000th the pain I experienced initially. |

I feel your pain. Mine got stuck, wouldn’t come out, so they had to operate. An operation with no incisions, care to guess where they went? I almost wanted the stone back. Almost.
|
was the pain worse than the pain of this past season?
If so that had to f*(&(*n kill! |
Sorry to hear about your pain, but I am curious. Where were you at 2 in the morning where you had to cut in line, in front of 7 people. Was that to try and take a crap?

Do people actually go to the emergency room for this or was a being dramatic? The pain was very intense, like I said worst pain ever. I'll keep going back if they come again. |
my college roommate drove from Virginia to KC while in the process of passing a kidney stone.

I took my wife to the ER at 1am Tuesday. She went back this morning and was admitted. She has a 6cm stone that is not passing yet. They are going to put in a stent in this afternoon. This is her 3rd round of kidney stones.

Honest question, what's the benefit of going to the emergency room? Antibiotics? Pain meds? I've never had one.

I woke up with a urinary tract infection after 24 hours of tripping once, nearly dropped me to my knees taking the longest piss ever. Kidney stones scare the the hell out me. |
10 years ago when I was having my gall bladder surgery I was sitting in the prep room waiting to be taken in for the surgery. About 20 minutes before I was scheduled to go in, they came in and told me that they had to move me back because they were having to do surgery on a guy with kidney stones. Not knowing any better (and never hoping to find out now) I asked, "what makes his situation any worse than mine". (I was told that they HAD to take my gall bladder out that day before it burst and caused other issues).
They told me that they would give me something to make my pain better and I could hang on the extra half hour. I didn't believe them until I saw them wheel the guy in...I seriously thought his head was going to do a 360....i completely expected his head to burst like something from the movie "Scanners". And I swear i thought I saw him bend one of the rails on the bed. (Most of what I saw might be contributed to the meds they gave me to make me feel better) |

Proper nutrition seems like a class we all slept through in high school but for the most part it can do more for health than anything. Also rotating your meals (different fruits/veggies/proteins) has a huge impact... |

My wife has had them a couple of times. She is usually pretty tough but the stones really took it out of her. I wouldn't wish them on anyone (well, maybe ***** :)).
As for calcium, it's a good idea to avoid supplements but it's important to get enough calcium in your diet. From Wiki: Quote:
Foods high in oxalates are best avoided: Quote:

A lady next to my room told me her husband gets them all the time and peeing them out, is in fact, almost painless. When it was going through my kidneys it damn near dropped me to my knees. I walked on a high ankle sprain that hurt like hell, but after going through this.......give me two high ankle sprains lol. I'm gonna drink water, snort it, shoot it up and take water pills with water as a chaser from now on. |
