Dorsey's 8 players in contention for #1

John Dorsey said on 810 that he has 8 players he feels are in the discussion for the first pick.

Who are those 8 players in your opinion? List them here.

Take out one of the tackles and put Patterson in there, and you're probably close.

We met with Lane Johnson at the combine too. I think Reid might have liked his versatility.

I could see alot of those players not being worth it. I was just putting him in there as a possible player they discussed.

Honestly if we keep the ZBS, Jonathan Cooper makes a ton more sense than Warmack, so there's that.

But I'm done talking about guards going top 10. Neither of these guys are as good as I thought DeCastro was last year.

bricks 03-05-2013 05:56 PM

I'd say Dorseys top 8 candidates are:

-Star Lotulelei
-Luke Joekel
-Eric Fisher
-Geno Smith
-Matt Barkley
-Shariff Floyd
-Dee Milliner
-Cordarelle Patterson

Marcellus 03-05-2013 05:59 PM

Unfortunately that tells you how much of a shitfest this draft is.

May as well draft a QB if you are taking a shot at 8 possible guys, go for the most important position.

Halfcan 03-05-2013 06:02 PM

Love to see Geno but I am thinking it will be Fisher. We needed to rebuild the line.

People think he has 2 QBs in the top 8, yet he gave up the 34th pick and a 2nd or 3rd next year for Smith? Especially Barkley who is as NFL ready as they come. Does not compute.

The "insider" information said Barkey was the only QB on their board. This doesn't do anything to dispel that notion.

If its really 8 a QB isn't out of the question I would guess. The Albert tag changed my thoughts on what they were doing big time. They've both definitely stacked QB on the past so you never know.

Translation: We have 1-3 options we would consider taking at #1 and five teams have already contacted us about the pick that would guarantee us getting one of our three options lower down.

BossChief 03-05-2013 08:07 PM

This is strange....trying to connect the dots here...

Daniel Jerimiah mentioned that Dorsey had about 8 guys that were in contention for the pick, at he combine, and that Geno had to be on that list after his combine performance. He used to be a scout for Reid and knows what kinds of things he looks for and was basically blowing kisses to Geno during their on stage discussion with him after he ran his 40.

On that same show, ***** tells Reid "don't be so locked into a quarterback"

Since then, we have locked up all the guys that could have gotten replaced by the top pick.

Is it possible that the oceans are parting for this regime to take a chance at Geno at 1, but have hedged their bets with Alex Smith in case Geno just doesn't get it?

Hope

Barkley will have especially big target on his back because of his throwing shoulder injury. The opposition are going to drill him as hard as they can to **** with that.

It's possible that this is why they traded for Alex. Sit Barkley for one season to completely heal and get up to speed in the offense.

Mr. Laz 03-05-2013 10:03 PM

I'm seen things saying that Barkley will never be more than an NFL backup.

I've read that as well. I also saw people on NFL AM compare him to Chad Pennington.

Either way, it's unlikely you're getting a Franchise QB with Barkley, let alone a Super Bowl winner.

Stranger things have happened but that shoulder injury really dampened his future.

The word true fan has become a straw man.

Mav 03-05-2013 10:11 PM

Barkley is a worse version of Mark Sanchez, and a slightly better version of John David Booty.

And on topic, of course the chiefs are saying they have 8 guys in mind. THey need to keep all options open, with option number one for them being to trade down, and get more picks.
