Saulbadguy 03-06-2013 07:58 PM

Showing my wife this video will surely eliminate her desire to go on one of these things.

Spott 03-06-2013 08:00 PM

The pilot is sure to be under fire for this.

Ceej 03-06-2013 08:01 PM

The people filming seemed like that balloon catching fire and crashing to the ground was an everyday thing.

That's what happens when you fly your hot air balloon too close to the sun..

mcaj22 03-07-2013 12:45 AM

that ****ing thing fits 19 people? or did it have like 5 people in it and by chance landed on 14 people standing at a rug shop on the ground

Strongside 03-07-2013 12:46 AM

Thumbs up if you came here for fire.

That only works in elevators, and you have to guess when it's gonna hit bottom.

Okay, this makes MUCH more sense.

Apparently the balloon was very close to the ground and attempting to land, when the fire broke out and two people jumped out. Both survived with no broken bones (just some cuts). But one of those was the pilot!

So, 19 unfortunate souls were in a burning basket as it swept back up into the air very quickly. Topped out at 1000 feet and burst, killing all who remained. Many, like you'd expect, jumped to their deaths long before the balloon burst. One of the survivors (the non pilot) lost his wife to the crash.

His ups must have been so good that they negated the downward force as he lands right on his feet. :P

Seriously though I have no idea how he did that.

Deberg_1990 03-07-2013 08:01 AM

So it sounds like it came down close to the ground, the two jumped out, and then it rose back up to nearly 1000 feet again? IM guessing thats where this vid starts?

Graystoke 03-07-2013 08:02 AM

Thats crazy.
And the sign said NO SMOKING!

Predarat 03-07-2013 09:32 AM

That is more epic then a dumpster fire. I hope nobody was hurt.

tooge 03-07-2013 10:29 AM

the pilot jumped out? he should be fired.

4 or 5 of the fatalities were Japanese tourists. It was a huge story on the news while I was there last week

Donte Stallworth in hospital after hot-air balloon accident
Free agent wide receiver suffered burns after balloon hit power lines.
Joe Fortenbaugh
02:53PM EST

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Donte Stallworth is in a South Florida hospital Saturday after a hot-air balloon he was riding in with his girlfriend hit power lines, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.com.

Stallworth was burned in the accident, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the injuries aren’t serious enough to jeopardize the ten-year veteran’s career.

The accident occurred around 10:00am eastern time and involved a third passenger who was reportedly not injured.

After spending the first four seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, the 32-year-old Stallworth has bounced around the league, playing with Philadelphia, Cleveland, Baltimore, Washington and Philadelphia. He is currently a free agent.
