An hour before the deadline for legal tampering, we have a deal that could have been done a week ago.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chiefs have agreed to a three-year deal with former Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson.

Robinson was able to deal now since he was released by the Falcons, whereas unrestricted free agents whose agents can be dealt with tonight have to wait until Tuesday.

It’s probably smart for Robinson to get a deal in now, with veteran cornerbacks moving away from jobs faster than toward them Friday.

It also continues an aggressive offseason for the Chiefs, who have to wait until Tuesday for their Alex Smith deal to be finalized, but have re-signed wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and franchised left tackle Branden Albert.

Chiefs are in a 8-8 now mode. That's not winning to me. Alex Smith is still gonna be our QB. Dorsey/Reid sealed their fate four years from now, just as Pioli did, by committing to a mediocre QB.

I'm sorry but same old story for this franchise. It's like a broken record. I hate to come off as negative but I know this team like the back of my hand.

I'm gonna need to see it to believe it that we'll be "winning" anything with Alex ****ing Smith at QB. I don't know how anyone not named casual fan can buy him as our starting QB going forward.

I was a fan a long time ago, and I think this is a value signing. Guy is great in run support, and did get picked on in Atlanta.

However, I think that's in large part due to the fact that teams had to throw to keep up with them. I'd venture to say that probably a great deal of corners that played with an explosive offense didn't have favorable numbers.

Based on the market, I'd say thats pretty close.

When the Chiefs do something I like (like hire Reid), I don't bitch.

Haven't heard anything about it. It's possible he could be if they like Arenas, but I'm more inclined to believe he'll be the #3.

Dunta Robinson has been crap for awhile now. He was crap in Houston, too.

Giving up yards and TDs will happen if teams are forced to throw on you, but those completion numbers and lack of pass breakups are pretty troubling.

I bet he'll play like 2007-08 Surtain.

Based on what we've heard about S. Smith, I'd say Robinson is the 3 or maybe the FS.
