Pattaya...

So out of the blue, an old friend of mine from Costa Rica emailed me and tells me that he now lives in Pattaya, about a half mile from Walking Street and the beach. We were in the off-shore sportsbook business in CR, and now he's doing something similar out of Thailand. Says he gets up at 7am, plays 18 holes, and then hangs out in the bars and gets blowjobs and sex the rest of the day. Now I'm not sure, but that sounds like the type of program I could really get with. I've always wanted to go, but having someone there who knows the lay of the land (i.e., how to avoid the ladyboys) has cemented it, I think. Thinking about going for a couple weeks late this summer...

Anyone from CP ever go to Pattaya? Any stories? Or better yet, any photos?

PunkinDrublic 03-10-2013 10:09 AM

Never been but I plan on going to Thailand for two weeks next year. From what I understand, once you can afford the plane flight, your dollar goes a long way out there. If you get a chance to go you should do it.

Canofbier 03-10-2013 10:10 AM

Gotta love those cheap, underage prostitutes!

BlackHelicopters 03-10-2013 10:11 AM

Enjoy! Sex and sports betting, and infinite leisure time? Good gig if you can get it.

JohnnyHammersticks 03-10-2013 10:12 AM

Flights weren't that bad actually. I looked yesterday, after I got his email, and it seems like I can get over there and back for around $1,100-$1,300.

Not having to worry about a hotel is huge though. My buddy's condo has an extra bedroom that he said I'd be welcome to stay in.

Then what are you waiting for? Go for it. There's a reason Thailand has thousands of ex pats living there.

I'm waiting because I own a business and have to be there 6 days a week, every single week. Sundays are my only days off. I run a grow warehouse growing weed for a dispensary in Denver, and unfortunately, plants don't recognize vacations, weekends, etc. All they know is, they're hungry/thirsty, and they want to drink. We're running our operation 1 man short right now, but my business partner comes back in May or June, and then I'll finally get to take my first vacation since March 2007. Pattaya is at the head of the vacation list, believe me.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but prostitution in that part of the world is ****ed up. Lots of underage prostitutes, lots of human trafficking (sex slavery). Even the "legitimate" prostitutes are doing it out of necessity due to extreme poverty and hardly any other choice. It's not hard to find more information on the subject, but the Wikipedia article has a pretty good summary of it.

The ones on Walking St., where I'll be hanging out, have their ID/ages documented, along with their sexual disease status. Now while their sexual disease status can immediately change, depending on their last partner--their ages/IDs don't change. The club owners there do too well to risk being shut down over a 16 yr. old. You don't deal with under 18 unless that's what you're specifically looking for. And if that's what you're looking for, you're seriously messed up and you deserve all the trouble and bad karma that comes your way.

The West is the only part of the world that demonizes Prostitution. World oldest profession, as in everything if you don't want to participate then don't and STFU. Tijuana Mexico, or Las Vegas Nevada (which I've sampled both), no problems, everyone wins. Take your self righteous act down the road. Dating or Married you are paying for sex. Either through a Dinner and Movie with a date or a Mortgage on a house. In the words of Frank Sinatra , "You're not paying them for sex, You're paying them to leave."

So what's your point? Why does the fact that they'd rather be having sex for a few hundred dollars a day than working in rice paddies for 2 dollars a week bother you so much?

While I'd like to save the world, reality is reality, and reality is, if I were in those girls' shoes, I'd probably make the exact same decision.

My issue clearly isn't with prostitution itself, but the way it works in that part of the world. Many of the prostitutes there are literally slaves, and even the ones who aren't are often forced into it because they don't have a choice (this isn't America, folks).

You can justify the practice all you want by citing ID cards and shit, but do you think anything suddenly changes in those young womens' lives when they turn 18? For that matter, don't you think that the crime cartels would have thought to create fake IDs for their prostitutes? There are probably instances of safe, fair prostitution practices in Thailand, but I doubt that some American ex-pat is legitimately going to be able to tell which is which. It's the dismissive attitude that so many have that allows the business to thrive as much as it does.

Obviously you avoid the places that have underage prostitutes.

You keep saying this, but you're not making any sense. Do you think that if the prostitution disappeared in Thailand, that these girls would all just shift professions and become doctors and lawyers? That's not the real world. In fact, these girls make more than most lawyers in that part of the world. My opinion is that you're failing to recognize a win/win situation because of your "high moral code".

KCFaninSEA 03-10-2013 11:34 AM

I was there in '86. Great time. Make sure you go by one of the many street shops and get a baggie of the Thai whiskey. You'll need a straw to drink it while you walk around and enjoy the "sights".

I'm just trying to figure out why the guy that grows weed for a living here in the US should be getting shit for blurting out that he's excited about having a great time banging underage Thai sex slaves with his buddy the illegal off-shore bookie.

Seems pretty par for the course if you ask me.

Fixed your post.

Try as you might, it's absolutely impossible to make me feel guilty for not following the "rules" that other people have put in place for me in terms of growing cannabis, betting on sports, and having sex with 18+ year old Asian women who are willing partners. Nanny-staters may have a hard time dealing with this fact, but that's their problem. I live life the way I want to live it--without hurting others--and I leave the rest to people like you. And I don't bet illegally offshore (or legally on-shore), by the way. I just used to work in the industry because I wanted a 2-year expenses paid working vacation in Costa Rica. Except for my noted civil disobedience in terms of not following an antiquated, misguided, greed-driven Federal policy regarding cannabis cultivation, I'm not that much of a gambler.

I think it's great. You're happy peddling weed. You did a two year stint in the illegal internet gambling trade, but it wasn't a big deal because you were close to the beach. And you are thrilled about going to hammer prostitutes (I'm sure someone checked their ID and they are actually thrilled to be in the business because having some drunk American sweat all over them while trying to talk them into putting into their ass 12 times a day is so much better than a life on the farm) in Thailand because you'll see your buddy and play a round of golf.

You obviously live a life free of moral complications. Kudos to you sir.

It's not an illegal gambling trade.

Since I've always wondered. What's the price for a prostitute over there compared to an American one?

From this source:

The sex trade there is no secret. Prostitutes charge about $15 a night and most rely on that money to feed their entire family.

Easy 6 03-10-2013 03:38 PM

All i know is that my best army pal got to go there for Cobra Gold wargames and would NOT shut up about how incredibly beautiful and soft the women are there for atleast two months.

Gotta say, i was jealous, it sounded like a paradise from the women to the food.

Saccopoo, i think you're being a bit hard on the guy... i highly doubt they're all just these ravaged and put upon types you're describing, the way i've heard it is that that chosen life gives them a higher standard of living than many other people in that country. And not everyone is going over there for 12 year olds.

Seriously why the **** do you care? Nothing wrong with traveling to exotic lands and sampling the local poon. It's not for everybody, and it doesn't automatically mean sex with underage girls.

I lived in Thailand for 3 years. . been to Pattaya a few times. .
the beach is shit, but you can take a 40 minute boat to a nice beach called koh larn. .

the nightlife is fun and on a different level than anything else you have or will ever see. .
underage prostitution although Im sure exist... is not visible and its not in the bars and gogo's ..

If you do take a girl. . .take her from a bar not from the street. .
the street girls are on the street for a reason. . (either HIV, or they are thieves)
A bar girl is "safer". . .supposedly gets HIV tested biweekly, but i wouldnt trust it. .
If you take a girl back to your room, make sure you put ur stuff in a safe and never leave her alone for even a minute around your possessions. . also check her into the front desk and they will keep her ID

2 things to avoid. . anyone underage period and any type of drug period .. even marijuana. . those things will make your holiday a long and expensive one. .and possibly a permanent one

Also dont be the drunken asshole foreigner. . things are not like the states. . things in Thailand will piss you off and you will get ripped off and the businesses do not have a "have it your way policy". . if you get into a confrontation settle it amicably pay ur bill and be on you way. . otherwise you will find yourself in a great deal of shit. .
other than that have fun dont get too drunk and eat some Som Tom street food. .

If you want to read a book thats really informative and a good read on the nightlife in Thailand. . check out Stephen Leather's Private Dancer .. there is even a bar in Pattaya named after it..

Make sure to hit "What's Up Bar". . .

Eh, if someone wants to spend their money on something that can be easily obtained for free without the 1200 dollar cab ride to get them there. More power to them. Not my cup of tea, but I can't criticize the guy. Who cares what the guy does for a living, and who cares about how he wants to spend his money. Really none of my business.

He could just waste his money on all the cool hipster type stuff like cruises and Vegas like you guys, but so what, he choose another route. Nothing wrong with that.
