Joe Phillips!
I mentioned him in another thread, and it got me to thinkin. I was too young to really know if he was any good or not. All I remember is a rowdy redhead that looked like a biker on crank out there busting skulls, and he fit in well with the stars around him.
But maybe...my childhood memory is wrong and he was really a shitstain that would have been a "meh" on CP, or a "****IN CUT THIS GINGER **** CARL $&**@#&*&#!!!!@!!!" I really don't know. |
He was a solid "lunch pail" kinda guy. Consistent, played hard... but not a stud.
|
He was better with the bolts, but a space filler for the chiefs... Allowing Neil smith and DT to attack the passer.
|
Wasnt he a lawyer?

Also think he is one of the brain dead that are suing the league for concussions. |

Dude was brain damage. Very sad case, like Mike Webster was a sad case. He was in a nasty bar fight when he played in San Diego. Cracked his skull, messed him up bad.

Not a good idea. It's all fun and games until you start getting kicked. |

Joe Phillips went to law school. He was probably more prepared for life after football than anyone. But then he just flipped out, most likely due to post-concussion stuff that wasn't even that well-known a decade ago.
That line was the best I ever saw from the Chiefs. There were a couple years there under Gunther that it seemed like no one ever got positive yardage up the middle against us. With the linemen having to worry so much about Smith and Thomas, Phillips and Saleamua were like a brick wall. |
