The REAL, ACTUAL 2013 ChiefsPlanet Consensus Mock, Round 1

Yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......... not very realistic the Chiefs are going to take Milliner anymore. So let's redo this.

I did this last year to amusing effect, so let's get it going this year for my amusement, if for nothing else.

I will mock up the NFL Draft as draft season develops, and every time the Chiefs are up for a pick, I will put the question before ya'll to see who you're interested in picking.

So, Chiefs get the first pick. Select from the above options who you want them to select.

Now, I am making a controversial executive decision here and EXCLUDING Geno Smith, since we all know that is not realistic anymore, and including him will no doubt make him the winner. I want to see what ChiefsPlanet realitically likes as an option.

Keep in mind, there is no trade down option: so who do you want them selecting?

Poll coming soon.

oldandslow 03-14-2013 12:19 PM

IMO, there is no way in hell that the Chiefs pick 1.1....

If they do it's Joeckel.

End of poll.

No Geno, no trade.

Bad poll. Fundamentally inaccurate.

Scorp 03-14-2013 12:33 PM

Geno god damn Smith. The end

Nickel D 03-14-2013 12:35 PM

You forgot to include the...

M-I-N-G-O

M-I-N-G-O

M-I-N-G-O

and Mingo was his name (OH!)...

...option.

DJ's left nut 03-14-2013 12:40 PM

They'll trade down, but if they don't I actually think they'll go with Fisher.

If they really want to retain Albert, Fisher is the better fit at RT and has more of a mauler mentality.

In either event, I'd still go with Floyd.

melbar 03-14-2013 12:41 PM

At this point I say giving Smith extra time and protection so that he can have time to make good decisions and opening running lanes for Charles is the best way to improve and maximize our investment. Gotta be an O lineman. Joeckel I guess....?

crazycoffey 03-14-2013 12:42 PM

I'm waiting to vote this time

The best way to protect Alex Smith is to stay out of shootouts.

The best way to stay out of shootouts is to force the other team into a ball-control offense.

We've taken care of part 1 - lots of guys in the secondary that can cover ground. Now we need to deal with part 2 - improving the pass rush.

Floyd or Richardson could do as much to protect Alex Smith as Luke Joeckel could. After watching Stephenson hold his own against Miller, I think he's a more than capable RT for us.

I'd STILL take Geno Smith.

Sit him for a year or two and let him master the system ala Rodgers or Kaepernick.

Get a right tackle in the third.

Sadly I'd say both lines are the weakest spots on the team at this point.

Draft Geno and cut either Smith or Daniel next season.

Dumb poll. Doesn't include trade down option.

If the Chiefs move down to #8, I could see them moving down once again, especially if Fisher and Jordan are gone.

Ideally, I'd like to see Sheldon Richardson at #8.

We've got to find some way to make Danny DeVito a rotational guy only

Sharrif!

People are going to shout down this idea and I don't know why - but why is Tamba Hali a sacred cow? That guys carrying a $15 million cap figure and he's probably a slightly above average pass-rusher at this point in his career.

The Chiefs won't cut him, so I can't get on board with Jordan. But honestly, I'd seriously consider dealing Hali for a 2nd/3rd, clearing the cap space and drafting Jordan.

We'd have on insanely fast defense at that point.

His lack of ability to penetrate gaps?

That's what we want our new defensive line to do, right?

AdumbGuy 03-14-2013 01:33 PM

Chance Warmack, because taking a guard first overall is hilarious to me, and I am bored. BPA guys!!!!

Direckshun 03-15-2013 07:20 PM

Bump.

Get a little more action in on this before I move on to the next pick.

No trade down option = Poll fail.

Hammock Parties 03-15-2013 09:10 PM

Tamba Hali is going to make people eat their words about him being declining or slightly above average.

This team may actually play with a lead in the first month and he might actually get a chance to rush the passer.

I'm thinking 13+ sacks is a lock.

tk13 03-15-2013 09:27 PM

The Chiefs asked this question on the Facebook page tonight. Go over there and read it for a good time. I'd say the consensus there is Joeckel.

no trade ....no qb.... take the guy that gets the most pressure.

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-15-2013 11:06 PM

I sure hope it's a lineman! Said no one worth two shits ever.

Can't believe so many people like Floyd. Groupthink at it's worst.

Nightfyre 03-16-2013 08:11 AM

No geno, no mingo and no trade down option. infeasible.

crossbow 03-16-2013 08:18 AM

I picked Richardson. Not that I would choose him but I think that is what the Chiefs will do. It makes sense, it is what this broke dick team has been doing for decades so they aren't going to change now.

Rausch 03-16-2013 08:26 AM

So the planet picks yet another 3-4 DE?

We deserve this team...

Nice post. I totally agree. Hali's cap figure is too high considering the return on investment.

If we are picking that early, I want a guy who could potentially be and all pro for years. If that has to be a rt, so be it.

Just want to remind everybody that voting on this particular draft position is over.
