Cassel a Viking
Minnesota gave former Chiefs QB Matt Cassel a one-year, $4 million deal.
|
no way, fo reals?
|
This move is hard to ponder.
|
They signed the King of the Cassel

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Minnesota gave former Chiefs QB Matt Cassel a one-year, $4 million deal. |
He's a good insurance policy in case their primary ball washer goes down.
|
Wait, is he getting $4 Mil to be a backup QB?
|
I'm not sure why they would extend him with another 1 year $4mil deal.
|
Minnesota waited and got their QB without giving up a 2nd.
|
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
I'm told Matt Cassel's contract with #Vikings is indeed a two-year pact. Reports of $4 million a year are at least a little high. @WCCORosen: Spielman also made it very clear Cassel was signed to be Ponder's backup Vikings radio guys |

Spotrac.com @spotrac
Matt Cassel's reported $4M deal with Vikings is greater than QBs Christian Ponder/Joe Webb combined in 2013 http://www.spotrac.com |

Maybe it's 2 years, $4 mil? Still more than he is worth.
|
Not really a surprising move. Good riddance.
|
I'm envisioning a lot of dumbass Vikings true fans (every team has theirs) being all like HE MADE THE PRO BOWL IN 2010!! WOO HOO!! I BET HE'LL DO AWESOME HERE. PLUS HE WAS 11-5 WITH THE PATRIOTS. TOM BRADY WOULD SUCK ON THE CHIEFS LOLOLOLOL. SUPERBOWL HERE WE COME

Adam Schefter was saying Cassel will be the starter by midseason.

God speed, Matt Cassel. I hope you find your career reborn.
I just don't see it happening, man. |

aside from his season in new england, cassell has played on horrible chiefs teams. who really knows what his potential is? this is a great signing, if not for anything it will push the bum ponder to actually start living up to expectations? |
Viking fans at the board are not all idiots. There are a few, though:

4 Million!!! Is the Vikings owner going to let Cassel do his wife to?
|
I have no ill-will towards Viking fans, so I am going to leave them alone.
|
We had 11tybillion pro-bowlers from a small-market team. That is not a shitty supporting cast. ROFL

In related news; suicides in the state of MN up 14%.

The parallels are amazing, aren't they? The difference is that we will not go to their board and try to tell them how awesome Cassel is while being gigantic douchewads in the process. |

"You guys are gonna love this Matt fella! Tremendous heart! Came back after an appendectomy! Knows how to wear hats! You got yourself a winner today Vikings nation; and you should be damn happy and proud!!" |
"He got Pioli fired! He got Crennel fired! He united (nearly) our entire fanbase!"
|
Is it OK to cheer if he gets a concussion now?

When this was mentioned on NFLN, the only Cassel highlights they showed were interceptions and fumbles.

At the end of the day he ended up with horns on the sides of his head.

They may want Winston to complete the ensemble.
|
Mind thoroughly blown.

As long as Matt doesn't fumble the snap, he should be able to do a good job handing it off to Adrian Peterson, taking four sacks, and overthrowing whoever lines up at receiver.
But however you cut it, he's better than Webb... |

The fact those fans will see Castle on the field this season after cheering Ponder getting concussed is unbelievable. I don't think he's any better than Webb.
It'd be fun to troll them. -"Chiefs didn't give him enough time, he just needed a few more games to turn it around." ROFL -"He was never taught to look off defenders'." |

The footage they showed of Cassel when they were talking about him going to the Mn was hilarious. It showed two INTs and a fumble:LOL:
|
4m per year isn't a big deal. Aren't we paying Chase Danzi 3m per?
And you know he's gonna see the field. Remember how he plays in camp when there's no actual pressure? Those poor ****ers are actually going to think he can play. |
You people amaze me. I could see the angst at Cassel when he was a member of the team. He is not. He is a decent dude who took tons and tons of personal shit because he wasn't good at being a quarterback.
He's gone, let it go. |

Speaking of Cassel. This is the perfect pro comparison for this guy.
QB07 LANDRY JONESQB OKLAHOMA NFL COMPARISON Matt Cassel BOTTOM LINE The NFL-sized pocket passer can be decisive and flashes the accuracy to pick apart defenses at the next level. However, his tendency to get rattled under pressure is a major issue. Also, when things start to go downhill, he lacks a short memory; his confidence is shaken. He is also inconsistent in his reads and decision making. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/...nes?id=2539287 |
that piece of shit is gonna make 4 million dollars?! **** him. I'm struggling just to get by living paycheck to paycheck
|
I went to grad school at the UofM while they had Favre and we brought in Cassel...
I got shit day-in and day-out over the fact we were trotting Cassel out on to the field. Karma bitches. LMAO |
Handing off to Adrian Peterson is a tough job.

It's funny that noone is like:
"I hope he goes on to win with Minnesota just to show how bad the Pioli-run (or ruin) Chiefs were. I'm going to root for him just to show the Chiefs made a mistake." You know.. like they do about the Geno. Really, Cassel isn't a bad backup, if you don't have a developmental QB there. He's not going to win you much, but he can (somewhat) direct a pro-style offense and make a few passes when necessary. I don't think he was the ONLY reason our offense sputtered constantly. I don't remember how good the Viking O-Line is at pass blocking though, which has a LOT do with Cassel's state of mind back there. (i.e., he needs like 10 seconds) |
did Pioli take a job with the Vikings

I saw a guy today with a Chiefs Cassel jersey/shirt on.
Poor sap. I knew instantly he wasn't from CP. |

He assured me he wasn't a Cassel fan, and "it was just on top of the pile today." Poor sap. |
If I remember right--Ponder played EVERY SNAP last year.
It was a sign that Webb was that bad. And he proved it in the playoff game. So the chances of Cassel playing are slim. We should all move on. |

I bet Cassel comes out hard. I could see it. Fire under his ass. But only as hard as Cassel can. And Cassel hard in the playoffs is a first round raping. But the Vikings are used to that, so...
