Found this earlier, just thought it was interesting....

IF they have the personnel to do it. And it is not new, Crennel ran his version during 2011 and it sucked because the Chiefs did not have BFF's that can run. Tyson J, Poe & Powe can run. maybe they go with them and Devito/Bailey as the fourth DL.

100 percent will be the best pass rusher they think is BPA. so either a OLB, DE, DL penetrator. Some dude that can add pressure. Because currently we have TWO ****ing guys on the whole roster that can pressure.

Well now Osi would make a little sense.

This sounds like what we did in 2009.
And I'm not trying to be funny. |
did you really just say a Clancy Pendergast 2009 defense was a 3-4/4-3 hybrid? because you are 100 percent wrong
|
Sign a guy like Osi to rotate along the dline and give us pass rush
|
I'm not ready to count Bailey out as not providing pressure. I think that he would be much better in a pressure style defense. Just sayin'

History has shown that Clancy Pendergast was just a placeholder until Pioli got Romeo to commit, so I'm not sure how many parallels we can draw from his failed stint... |
Who was it a month ago that said Ziggy Ansah was a potential top 5 pick? I think it was RunKC
If it turns out that way, I need to give that guy some dap. |
I'm not sure if Bob Newhart is the guy to do this. He doesn't exactly have a history of being a mad scientist capable of making wise decisions in these flex alignments
|
Trade down to JAX pick and we select Sheldon Richardson...who would tear it up in this defense.

they ran an awful 34 without the personnel to do it |
I'd love to see Osi or Freeney brought in for rush help, but we've probably seen the end of the bigger name signings at this point.
But they better figure something out, Hali and Houston simply arent enough, we need someone who can spot both or fill in for an injury. |
i think i would rather see a hybrid 1-gap/2-gap system
|
I want to see if Powe can get on the field hoping he didn't get much opportunity with Pioli Poe pick getting the favoritism.

Count me among those who really hope Reid will see something in Powe, in what few chances he's had he's demonstrated remarkable burst and quicks for a man his size.
Watching him collapse not one but three linemen to make a solo tackle was about all i needed to make me want to see more. |

So where will Dumervil fit in this scheme?...

If I was planning on using a 34/43 hybrid, I'd move Dontari Poe to Rde with Jerrel Powe on the nose, and Tyson Jackson at LDE.
I would also switch sides with Hali and Houston, target a versatile LB in the third. I would then be able to mix up my defense with the base personnel. 34 would have Jackson, Powe and Poe, left to right on the line, Hali, 3rd rounder, DJ, and Houston, left to right at LB. Drop Hali on the line at RDE, move Jackson inside to DT in a 43 front. Working like that wouldn't allow the offense to make playcalls based on personnel packages. |

We are trading down and taking a pass rusher. It will kill me to see it, but someone else is going to move up for Geno. And while Hali still has a lot of gas in the tank, I think that the state of the league clearly says you stock up on as many top level pass rushers as you can possibly get.

i dont know about you but im a little tired of "simulated pressure" , how about some real ****ing pressure other than TambaHawk??
|
As someone who is a fan of another team switching to a hybrid, Dion Jordan is easily the best player for this defense in this draft. Other than a high quality press corner that doesn't exist in this draft.
That said. If the Jaguars don't take him, the Eagles definitely will. |
Eagles are going to move up for Geno

As well as ASmith protects the ball and chews up the clock, with our new defensive personel+Ansah in your scheme and we could be looking at the top rated defense in the league in a year or two. |

The knock on Ansah is his motor, after 2 or 3 plays he has to go to the sideline to catch his breath.

He also said he was going to marry a whore and eat some rum ham.
