Could the Chiefs actually flip their first rounder twice?

I was listening to 1010xl Jacksonville radio and this was mentioned and made me think. First off I should point out that as a Jaguars fan I don't think I'd be on board with this due to the value of our 33rd pick and our needs but;

What if the Jaguars were to give up something like the 33rd pick (And MAYBE another later round pick) to flip picks with the Chiefs, and then the Chiefs ended up traded that #2 AGAIN for someone looking to snag a LT.

I guess it would really come down to if the Chiefs would need more to swap picks with the Jaguars, and if the 33rd + whatever they get for trading the #2 would be more value than what they would get trading the #1.

Canofbier 03-15-2013 01:05 PM

if u flip it twice itll be the same as it wsa to begin with lol moron

The Franchise 03-15-2013 01:05 PM

You guys are going to trade up for Joeckel? Sounds good to me.

#1 - Jags - Joeckel
#2 - Chiefs - Geno Smith

No dipshit. You flip it once. Now your first rounder is a #2 pick. Then you flip it with some later first round pick.

I didn't say flip with the Jaguars twice. I'm talking about a 2012 Rams situation.

Chief_For_Life58 03-15-2013 01:08 PM

you let the burger grill for a while then you flip it once. never flip it twice. never go full reerun

No.

If we aren't going to get Geno with 1.1, we can get a lot more value from another team like the Cards or Bills who really need a QB. We can get their 1 and 2 this year and their 1 next year. Once we move out of the #1 spot, the #2 pick is essentially worthless as the talent in the top 25 is pretty closely bunched together.

Keep dreaming. You're screwed.

No it isn't. And I said I wouldn't want us to trade our 33rd pick.

If the Dolphins can't bring back Long, they will need a good young LT.

There are three to choose from. They don't need to trade up to #2.

You're on the outside looking in.

The Jags have ZERO leverage in this draft.

Mile High Mania 03-15-2013 01:14 PM

Depends on the players they want and how the draft flows in R1... if they can move from #1 down and stay in the top 10 or low teens, receive a bounty in return - then trade down again to the high teens, low 20s - get more picks and still walk away with a nice player ... maybe it's worth the extra picks - definitely more cap friendly.

Long just left St. Louis without a contract. The Dolphins will probably re-sign Long now.

**** the jaguars

BossChief 03-15-2013 01:32 PM

Now the troll comes crawling back, begging for a chance at a trade up.

I would rather draft Geno Smith than have all the second round picks in the world...but if they are dead set on not taking a QB, then they need to trade back and extract the value of the top pick.

Fat Elvis 03-15-2013 01:34 PM

Basically, you're saying that Geno is worth a second round pick to KC?

LMAO

Dolphins drafted a left tackle last year.

philfree 03-15-2013 01:45 PM

We trade down to #4 with Philly and because Barkley has a great pro day he's the next QB up and AZ is afraid he'll get away so they trade up to #4 from #7. So we're at #7 with a bevy of picks this year and next.

No. AZ then trades with the Jags. (not gonna happen)

Once you trade out of the #1, you're done.

If they think the Raiders are taking Barkley yeah. Hopefully we get one trade done.

I can not see any way, any team, this year is giving up 2 #1's and a #2 to move up to the top slot this year. No way

I think at this point there's a good chance the QB needy teams make a move for Geno Smith. I think there's a good chance we get a trade done. Reid and Dorsey are aggressive and they'll try like heck to move that pick.

Then you have no idea just how bad the QB situation in AZ and Buff really is; they literally have no QBs.

If Chip Kelly thinks Geno is the guy to run his type of O; he would do it, I guarantee it.

There is Geno and then there is everyone else.

You either get him or you don't.

I hope we get him, but if we don't, we better be well compensated.

Why did Microsoft call their second model of XBox the XBox360?

Because when you see one, you turn 360 degrees and walk away

Spott 03-15-2013 02:17 PM

The guys on 1010 are so far out of the loop when it comes to anything besides talking about the Florida Gators.

Id be trying to get a next years first from the bills or jets... They're going to be baddddd

MTG#10 03-15-2013 02:58 PM

When can we start negotiating our pick? Do we have to wait until we're "officially" on the clock or could they start listening to offers now?

If we could get Jacksonvilles 2014 first, sign me up.

Our first overall and our third for their second overall and next years first.

Depending on how many teams are calling, we might be able to keep our third.

Yesterday you said to me:
"Why would we give up our first next year when we are rebuilding lol. At least think before coming up with these ideas. Our first will likely be a Clowney/Bridgewater pick next year."

I'll say again that I do not think a 1 & 2 this year will buy Geno for you.

Will it take 1 & 2 this year and next? Dunno. But it looks more and more likely all the time.

Will we get that from somebody? I bet we do.

Been there, it was kind of awkward...word of advice - make sure its two random skanks and you're not in a serious relationship with one of them.

I do know neither team has a QB worth shit. Your scenario of a trade is fine, I just don't think any team would give up what you want. 2 #1's and another 2. If there was a "can't miss" prospect, sure I could see that but there is no "can't miss" QB. Smith is helping our cause but not enough yet. A bidding war would help also.
