Good. I think he will help Doug Pederson while Andy focuses on the whole team.

Childress isn't going to be the OC so he's not going to be calling plays for the current KC QB (that could change but address that if/when it happens). So...what would his job be? To teach Smith how to run a Spread Offense? Seems unlikely. To install a Spread Offense? Installing an Offense is usually the OC's job. What role would require a specific knowledge of the Spread in the context of "Special Projects"? One obvious possibility would be bringing Geno Smith up to NFL speed in a system that he is used to, and might make the most of his abilities.

I see I'm not the only one who thought they looked similar. Long lost brothers.

Chilly is the insurance policy for if and when the first year OC, first year QB coach and Alex Smith all fail and have a miserable season.

Not that this has anything to do with Chilly, but to be precise about their spread backgrounds, Alex Smith played in Urban Meyer's read-option system, while Geno played in the Air Raid.

Loved him in Simon & Simon, Designing Women not so much.

Keep in mind that it took a while for Jake and Elwood to get "Guitar" Murphy, and that worked out pretty well. Other than the whole "thrown in jail" part anyway.

My new pipe dream is for us to draft him, and for Reid to be like "we really think he is the future of Kansas City"...

We are putting up some points this year boys.

That is the key point here. I love the idea we have a younger up and coming coach as the OC, who a lot in Philly think he will be a HC in 3-4 years, that has now two veteran coaches to get advice from while learning.

Plus, Chilly totally botched that NFC Championship game with his playing calling on that last drive when he pissed down his leg and stopped being aggressive and just played for the FG. Don't want him calling plays.

They paid top money for a backup, not to mention going all in to get smith... its hard to envision them starting the guy off his first year with a number one pick to look back over his shoulder at.

Why complain? It cant hurt. Chilly was good with the Eagles. He'll help out Pederson too. And really Spread game analysis? Why not draft Geno? Who cares invest in the QB spot and have a experienced veteran starter, experienced backup and young top QB prospect waiting in the wings. With free agent moves, we can draft BPA

If he were capable of running the spread like Geno he would have never lost his job to Kap.

Exactly. We'll see how it unfolds in a few days after Geno's 2 day visit. Work him out and see how he responds while working with Reid and his offense

I think the big thing in this whole Geno discussion is that Alex hasnt signed an extension yet. I wouldnt have a slimmer of hope if Alex signed a 3 year extension

His title is really interesting. Also, how often does a WCO coach sign a backup QB with no history in it? Taken together, it sure seems like Reid might be making major changes to his offense.
