Or are we just yelling Geno these days. If that's the case, I'm cool with it, I just need some advanced notice.

Spread Game Analyst/Special Projects.
Childress isn't going to be the OC so he's not going to be calling plays for the current KC QB (that could change but address that if/when it happens). So...what would his job be? To teach Smith how to run a Spread Offense? Seems unlikely. To install a Spread Offense? Installing an Offense is usually the OC's job. What role would require a specific knowledge of the Spread in the context of "Special Projects"? One obvious possibility would be bringing Geno Smith up to NFL speed in a system that he is used to, and might make the most of his abilities.

Chilly is the insurance policy for if and when the first year OC, first year QB coach and Alex Smith all fail and have a miserable season.

Chilly is the out that keeps Reid safe and they can go get a young QB and do their thing

True.

Not that this has anything to do with Chilly, but to be precise about their spread backgrounds, Alex Smith played in Urban Meyer's read-option system, while Geno played in the Air Raid.

KCUnited 03-28-2013 03:53 PM

Loved him in Simon & Simon, Designing Women not so much.

chefsos 03-28-2013 03:54 PM

Keep in mind that it took a while for Jake and Elwood to get "Guitar" Murphy, and that worked out pretty well. Other than the whole "thrown in jail" part anyway.

My new pipe dream is for us to draft him, and for Reid to be like "we really think he is the future of Kansas City"...

and then 10 minutes later trade him to the highest bidder

the meltdown on this board would be so epic it would be worth it

Not even Chilly can figure out how Gary Pinkel's mishmash of different spread concepts is supposed to work.

That is the key point here. I love the idea we have a younger up and coming coach as the OC, who a lot in Philly think he will be a HC in 3-4 years, that has now two veteran coaches to get advice from while learning.

Plus, Chilly totally botched that NFC Championship game with his playing calling on that last drive when he pissed down his leg and stopped being aggressive and just played for the FG. Don't want him calling plays.

Good Lord, some people will look for any possible hope to Draft Geno, no matter how far fetched.

Yes well Daniel was a backup and he was with the Eagles and Saints but he never played so we dont know what kind of offense suits him.

/Special Projects. A lot of people call Geno a project. I believe A Smith is just a stop gap until Geno is ready..

Plus he signs today when Geno comes to town in 4 days. Just speculation..

Actually nope. Ravens have a franchise qb there so no connection there.

Plus Kiebler doesnt date black guys she dates old guys.

No Geno signs there.

Just my hunch, but i simply dont see them taking geno or anyone else in the top three rounds.

They paid top money for a backup, not to mention going all in to get smith... its hard to envision them starting the guy off his first year with a number one pick to look back over his shoulder at.

Not quite they haven't Casseled his contract yet with a lucrative bonus and a insane base salary yet for a long term extention.

Mother****erJones 03-28-2013 05:40 PM

Why complain? It cant hurt. Chilly was good with the Eagles. He'll help out Pederson too. And really Spread game analysis? Why not draft Geno? Who cares invest in the QB spot and have a experienced veteran starter, experienced backup and young top QB prospect waiting in the wings. With free agent moves, we can draft BPA

Exactly. We'll see how it unfolds in a few days after Geno's 2 day visit. Work him out and see how he responds while working with Reid and his offense

Mother****erJones 03-28-2013 05:46 PM

I think the big thing in this whole Geno discussion is that Alex hasnt signed an extension yet. I wouldnt have a slimmer of hope if Alex signed a 3 year extension

His title is really interesting. Also, how often does a WCO coach sign a backup QB with no history in it? Taken together, it sure seems like Reid might be making major changes to his offense.
