My final Geno thread before the draft
Simple question. Will you be upset if the Chiefs draft Geno Smith? If so, why?
|
I'll be upset if they DON'T draft teh Geno.
|
Who's Geno Smith?

No I won't. But given all the indications by teams who need QBs, the bust factor is pretty likely.
I want EJ Manual. Posted via Mobile Device |
I've seen maybe two articles with anything tangible in them regarding his flaws (footwork issues?)
and 500 articles about how he can't be drafted 1st overall because it would hurt Mike Mayock/Andrew Luck/Alex Smith/insert douchebag here 's feelings. What would there be to be mad about? |
I went with no... which comes as no surprise to many. All along I have said I would go after Alex Smith AND Geno Smith. From way back before we even picked up Alex in the trade. I suspect if we do draft Geno, the biggest uproar is going to come from the group that thinks we gave up too much for Alex.
Me? I could care less about the compensation given for Alex. If we come out of this draft with a franchise QB, anything else out of this draft is just icing on the cake. |
Yep. We need to give Alex Smith a chance. Plus, next year's QBs are better.
|
no, they would be 'taking a shot'
i'm ok with it |
There's a draft this year?
After trading for yet another backup QB to be the Chiefs starter I had almost forgotten about it. |
How the **** could someone be upset taking a potential franchise QB - especially when there isn't much (if any) elite talent in the draft at other positions?
|
The only one I'll honestly be upset with is Joeckel. Even Fisher I can live with (though I won't be really happy with it)
|
Screwed up my pick. No I won't be upset, I'll be thrilled.
It is a quarterback league, and Geno is the best quarterback to be drafted this year. Who knows when we'll ever be in a position like this again to be able to pick up a potential game changer at the position. So what if we signed Chase Daniel and traded for Alex Smith? I'd rather be stacked at quarterback than stacked at offensive tackle (or any other position for that matter). |

There's not a single elite prospect in this draft. Geno is head and shoulders above the other QB prospects in the league and is no worse than the other top players are at their positions. In this draft, he absolutely deserves to be a top 10 pick. |

Even if he's a total flop and we have to draft another QB in 2 years.

I can only be happy if we draft Geno Smith. I could give a **** about Alex Smith or Joekel.

And like someone said earlier, if you're going to reach, reach for a QB. Especially one with Geno's potential. I'll be thrilled if the Chiefs take him on draft day. |
He could be worse than Jon Baldwin, Tyson Jackson or Ryan Sims? Oh my the horror!
|
So far, 5 idiots. I will keep updates on this line for all those here.

On a side note FA Shaun Smith our nut graber said he wants to play for John Dorsey because you have to earn his respect and he didnt let his ego get in the way like Pioli did.

I won't be upset if they don't, either. I've prepared myself for this already.

Nope.
It would be great. I just don't see us spending the 1.1 on a QB after what we invested in our starter and backup. I think you need to start looking at the "second-tier" QB's in this draft and hope we find a diamond in the rough. |

You see it a lot in every business - very good workers who stop giving a shit because a total asshole reerun is put in charge that no one respects. This team is going to be a whole lot better this next season. |

Never heard of him, but no.

I think there are some questions, and it would be a bit of a reach, but if we draft him, I'll cheer my A-- for him till he stops wearing Red.
|
there's a reason alex smith was a backup last year.
it's because he needs a rookie qb to be a starter. |

on the fence really .. would really like a better crop of QB talent than this years to pick from .....

I will not be upset because then The Raiders and the Chiefs will have drafted a monumental bust in the last decade

I wont be upset if we draft Geno, in fact I will be ecstatic.
I WILL be upset that we gave away draft picks for Alex Smith then drafted Geno anyway. |

No. How can you be upset with a team for taking a chance at the chance for a franchise QB that we haven't had in 30 years?
I'm not convinced he is THE guy, but what do I know. Plus, I do agree this is what you spend the #1 overall pick on, a QB that is. |

Upset? I'd be happy.
However, I bought my draft magazines last night and have been reading through them. One of them excoriates Geno and all of the other quarterbacks, and the other one lists him as our pick but predicts him to have a much lower ceiling than several other players, and says that the quarterback most like him in the NFL today is (wait for it) Alex Smith. While it kills me to say it, I would not be upset if we drafted someone else if Geno is that much of a risk. I do wonder if there's some sort of media conspiracy to make the quarterbacks slip to the east coast teams, though. |

I'm far from thrilled we spent another early R2 pick on a game manager, but I'm more concerned with the future of the QB position than the "right now." If they feel its important to spend their first two picks on the right now and the future, I'm all for it. |
