KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police are attempting to sort out a horrible and confusing situation at a Kansas City apartment complex.

A 19-year-old boy apparently fatally shot his 14-year-old brother whose body was subsequently buried near the apartments, police tell KCTV5.

About 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shots fired call at Longview Road and Richmond Avenue. Officials said two teens were being questioned as part of the investigation and police began to search for the victim.

As part of the investigation, police learned about a missing teen and that search led officers to find a hand sticking out of the ground. Police believe the body to be that of the missing 14-year-old boy.

The shooting is believed to have occurred between Friday and Wednesday.

KCTV5 reporter Jeanene Kiesling is gathering more information. Watch KCTV5 News at Noon, 4, 5 and 6 p.m. and refresh this page for updates.

It was more of a legal question than a philosophical one...

Mr. Laz 04-24-2013 11:27 AM

i'm surprised he didn't just run him over with a car.

AP style states you're a boy or girl under 18, men and women 18 and older so either the writer is unprofessional stylistically or trying to spin the story..

Dayze 04-24-2013 11:27 AM

i hope they find out that the brother didn't have a hand in this crime

this always bothered me. either let them drink, or raise the minimum age for service to 21.

of course.....they wouldn't have nearly as many servicemen/women to support our annual wars.

Rep sir. Sort of makes my "Did it break apart in mid-air?" seem useless.

I don't think we want drunk soldiers.

Dayze 04-24-2013 11:55 AM

we could have a special division

"The .08 Airborne Division"

A 14 year old will be the leader of the zombie apocalypse?

We need the younger ones for the lower ranks. They don't believe that they can die, they tend to lack independence of thought and they tend to be healthier given proper exercise. Oh and, by the way, you don't have to be 21 to drink on base or in many foreign countries. I got most of my (stupid) drinking done between the ages of 17 and 21.

Setsuna 04-24-2013 03:13 PM

Geez. His own blood and his younger brother at that. What happened to the overwhelming sense of protection when a younger sibling is born and you spend 14 years with him. Man...demented guy.

I'm not sure if this is still in effect, but when I was in the Army we could purchase alcohol on base and drink it legally @ the age of 18. This was in the late 90's.

Our skipper, both in my squadron, and the old man on the Carrier didn’t allow drinking in Hong Kong or Singapore; but allowed it in the gulf, Australia and Tasmania.
My squadron CO was a real POS. If I ever saw him, I would walk right up to him about 3” from his face and tell him ‘FU”! Dude was a collasal D.
As are most officers from the Naval Academy. Common theme there.
Odd.
Must have thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to have a bunch of 18 yr olds running around drunk in those countries lol

Fansy the Famous Bard 04-24-2013 03:22 PM

Well, quick google search answered that.

I was at Ft. Bliss (in El Paso) on the Mexico Border. So there is a special rule in there for that.

They've actually come off that version of the story. Apparently there was a third party involved, no relation and he was the trigger-man. The 14 year old left the company of his 19 year old brother on Sunday and was seen with the other man.
