Gas Plant explosion in WV
Explosions, fire reported at West Virginia gas plant
The Associated Press Posted: 05/13/2013 03:14:50 PM CDT Updated: 05/13/2013 03:17:38 PM CDT POCA, W.Va.—Emergency officials say crews are responding to reports of explosions and a fire at an industrial site in West Virginia. Nitro firefighter Jeff Dorsey says crews were dispatched Monday afternoon to Airgas in Poca just outside Charleston. The company is a distributor of specialty gases used in industry and elsewhere. Dorsey did not know if there were any injuries. A telephone call to the company resulted in a busy signal. A woman who answered the phone at the company's regional headquarters said officials were in a meeting and could not immediately comment. Very scary, I work in gas plants everyday. Have a big job tomorrow inside of a gas plant. I hate these damn things. One spark and BOOM |
was this as big as the one in Waco recently?

Yikes.

Bunch of people working there had been trashing Geno Smith. So he blew them up.

That's a shame.

I think I used to have a cross country race there in high school, all those decades ago. The Nitro Invitational or something like that.

Ban gas. No seriously.
|
Ban sparks.
|
Too many WVU fans burning couches.
|
Interesting factoid. The High School in Poca are the Poca Dots.
|
It's West Virginia, nobody cares anyway.
|
Try and blame the rise in gas prices on the Memorial Day weekend. HA

What we have here is
Failure with acetylene |
Big Derrty had a similar problem a few years back with 'sparks flying' at a canister gas facility smack dab in south city.
It was like lighting a bunch of bottle rockets into the air to land willy-nilly, except these were full sized steel canisters. with oxygen, NOS and acetylene, flying out into neighborhoods surrounding them. |
