Broncos Bring Back Alex Gibbs As Offensive Consultant

Alex Gibbs returns to the Broncos, which of course means Montee Ball is going to be God

According to Mike Klis, the Broncos have brought back Alex Gibbs as an offensive line consultant:

It never did seem like the Broncos allowed the media to influence their decisions.

That's abundantly clear now that the team has brought back Alex Gibbs as an offensive line consultant.

"He'll be a good resource," said Broncos coach John Fox. "I know from competing against (Gibbs) over the years that he can help us out."

How big of a deal is this for the Broncos? I see Montee Ball vying for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

And if you're a fantasy football geek (you loser, find yourself a woman), you're cackling at the prospect of drafting Ball in a later round while everyone is lamenting the fact they couldn't get Adrian Peterson or Arian Foster.

Gibbs is perfect for coaching what Peyton Manning wants on the stretch zone (and what Ball does well): one cut and gone.

For those of you too young to remember, check out this handy reminder of the Alex Gibbs style and mentality (warning: Gibbs doesn't use language approved by your mother on Mother's Day):

I like it. He'll be bitching at our guys constantly.

Return of the illegal cut blocks!

Hey guys. Remember when we brought back Gunther Cunningham AFTER the game passed him by?

OrtonsPiercedTaint 05-13-2013 05:43 PM

Peyton will knock up his daughter.

As a Badger fan, I actually don't think Ball will be that good of a pro. I would have much rather had Le'Veon Bell.

We'll see, but I think the Broncos are going to be far better off with McGahee and what's his poop that Knowmo really likes who's not Knowshon Moreno

Pasta Little Brioni 05-13-2013 06:09 PM

Still won't fix what will be yet again a soft bitch running game. Peydaton wouldn't allow it anyway.

If Manning would just get crippled this team would be drafting in the top 5

Wouldn't that be something to see Manning riding off into an orange and blue sunset with a couple of Lombardi trophies?

That stretch play is a beauty to watch.

Yeah, it was awesome seeing it go for about 3 YPC last year :thumb:

Are you talking about KC running the stretch, Donks, or Gibbs coached teams?

Because that outside zone play and the blocking scheme with it has eaten people up for years. It's an absolutely wonderful design (hence, why the Rat/Kubiack/Gibbs have been able to get so much production out of late round/lesser tier backs).

Pasta Little Brioni 05-13-2013 07:22 PM

I remember seeing the Doncos fail at running any and all running plays last year against teams that didn't give a **** if they handed it off.

Glad you agree that was yet another good move by the Bronco Front Office.

Honestly, I didn't pay much attention at all when the DOnks were on TV. I missed their games vs. Texans, NE, and Pitt (as far as non Chiefs games I'd watch of teh Donks) and can't even remember the games against KC.

I hope that Ball turns out to be KnowMo 2.0 though. Given the wear on the tires and his physical skills, I'm thinking it is a likely outcome. Now, if they'd gotten Randle and given Manning Addai 2.0, then I'd be a bit worried. I just can't envision how teams are going to be worried about Ball cutting it back on the stretch. This isn't Charles, Foster, or even Alfred Morris. Ball is considerably slower IMO.

First thought after reading this, "watch out for your knees". This ****ing putz finds more ways to play borderline illegal than any coach I know. I hated it when the Chiefs had to face their O-Line back in the day. Defensive players will never openly say it, but I guarantee you they aren't as aggressive playing against this blocking scheme to further their career.

I'd be interested in finding out how many opposing DL/LBs/S are injured from Gibbs/Kubiak/Rat stretch plays as opposed to other teams.

AFC defensive lineman and linebackers have just started buying knee braces in bulk and amending their insurance policies for MCL/ACL repairs.

Alex Gibbs is a POS cheap shot artist.

Rain Man 05-13-2013 08:44 PM

If you look closely toward the bottom of the screen at 3:47, you can actually see them violating the salary cap.

Gibbs is a cheater, too.
