Donks cut MLB Joe Mays
Discus.

Impossible. He's the best MLB in the league.
|
Bring him in for a look. It's always healthy to have veteran competition during training camp for the 3rd string/special teams LBs.
|
why? isnt Joe Mays kind of decent? why would you deplete your team like this
|
 he's no Willie Mays Hayes
|
He's just not a smart player, but he's a thumper.
|
Bring him in. He'd have a good chance of starting here.
|
funny part is Andy Reid drafted him with the Eagles lol
|
Bring him in and let him cheap shot Moeaki on special teams practice....
I bet the Raiders pick him up. |
Hits like a truck but (hi Moeaki) can't cover for shit and can't call the plays in huddle. I really like him as a player but he just doesn't have the whole thing.

His biceps were large, but they were a little bit saggy so they looked like the arms of a Russian grandmother.

Not to mention their starting pass rush DE is Robert Ayers so two important positions on defense are two players that have yet to really show anything |

I'm telling you, the Donkeys are paper tigers. That team is FULL OF HOLES and even Peyton can't do it all by himself.
He makes the receivers look better than they are, and the addition of Welker will help him, but they've got a meh running game and their defense is set to take a HUGE step back, especially now with Miller getting suspended. I don't like their secondary and I don't like their pass rush. I think its a soft team. The West is wide open for the taking. |

on what? It's a weak division.
Denver gets to play the Raiders and Chargers twice each, too. I think they'll win 10. At most 11, and only because The Raiders and Chargers totally blow. Like I think Denver and KC will sweep them both each. I think KC will be within a game of Denver either way. Better overall talent, lesser QB play. What's so weird about that? |

I'd bring in Mays for a look as the Ted backer.
Dude's an idiot, but he can hit the !@#$ out of people. If you ask him to do much more than the Belcher role, he's going to screw it up, but as a pure thumper and 2-down LBer, he'd be solid. Worst case scenario, he sucks and you give the role to Nico or Jordan. In that case, you still have a plus STs player for your trouble. If we can fit him on the roster and under the cap, yeah, I'd bring him in without question. |
They seem to be loading up on good special team guys this year so he'd fit there. I think nico ends up opposite DJ eventually, but I'd take a look.
I still would have rather had bishop but theme the cards |
they might sign him for camp, pick his brain about the broncos and cut him but I don't see why they would sign him for competition.
no, I would say they are going to go with Nico/Jordan. the loss of Von could effect them, but not much imo because the first four games are soft, with exception to the NYG. |
|
it's becoming more and more difficult to protect these 2-down thumper MLBs because of all the passing in the NFL
|
Actually, I think theres a great way to hide them. Knock the QB on his ass before he has a chance to find said 2 down LB in coverage.

turns out all you have to do is sack the quarterback
3 times in a row every time |
Never said it was foolproof.
There actually are quite a few 2 down LB's playing on good teams that can't cover that well, but they are/can be hidden if you get pressure. I don't think you have to be a great top of the line athlete to cover if you're a 2 down Lb'er, just have to be smart. Look at some of the old Steeler ILB's. They can cover because their intelligent. |

After watching Crennel's defense the past few years, I'd rather get beat being aggressive than sit and watch long drawn out drives while being passive.
|
We went to a Super Bowl, and then went to a Super Bowl and won it with a guy named Mays playing on defense. First name started with a J too. Maybe it's karma? Bring him in for a look!

I don't think we've ever added a former donk player that was worth a damn. Can you guys think of any?
|
Mays is a classic 3-4 thumper. His release will help us get Decker, Beadles and Woodyard signed. Chris Kuper could be next because in 2015 we have to get DT, Von and Chris Harris signed.

Wouldn't mind adding him for competition. Still loved his hit on Schaub

And that hit on Tony Moeaki was meh. Tony's injury prone so it's not hard to hurt him :)

If he can promise to hit Peyton like he did Schaub, we should give him 5 mil guaranteed.

So, is the consensus that this was pretty much a salary cap move?

Donks got better run from former Chiefs: Abner Haynes, Keith Traylor, Neilbonics, Dale Carter. |
Bring him in. We can use more LB's at ST
Jordan, Mays, Jones.....hells yeah |

Mays is a solid citizen but he's a one trick pony. But God he hits like a truck.
