*****Official Doubleheader, Royals vs. Pussycats*****

Alright, we're losing hope. No gamethread? I'll take BOTH under this thread.

Verlander vs. Duffy

Let's do this.

penbrook 08-16-2013 11:11 AM

Chris Getz again leading off..

CaliforniaChief 08-16-2013 11:15 AM

No-hitter spoiled by Billy Butler in the first. Headed to bottom. Heeeeeeere comes Duffy.

Ace Gunner 08-16-2013 11:18 AM

they need 10 wins today :)

Mr. Arrowhead 08-16-2013 11:18 AM

anybody have a stream?

CaliforniaChief 08-16-2013 11:19 AM

Duffy goes full count and walks A. Jackson.

New slogan: Royals' Baseball: Reverse Pitchcounts

CaliforniaChief 08-16-2013 11:21 AM

A much-needed DP.

C3HIEF3S 08-16-2013 11:21 AM

Duffy gets the double play, nice.

BlackHelicopters 08-16-2013 11:22 AM

Two must win games.

Nope

Does Duffy have any idea where his pitches are going when they leave his hand?

Maxwell gets picked off after about 10 pickoff attempts from JV..

siberian khatru 08-16-2013 11:34 AM

Jesus, Royals, you can't make these mistakes and compete

Perfectly sunny day in Detroit, yet they've got the first base lead-off area covered in sand and quick-dry like there was a flood.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. I mean, the umpire has to regulate some of that. Kuntz was trying to rearrange it after Maxwell got picked off, but that's just weak sauce.

duncan_idaho 08-16-2013 11:38 AM

Verlander leaving a LOT of pitches elevated. Need to take advantage of that. I'm sure MOAR POWER will be ready in his next AB.

Duffy's command just isn't there yet. He was just starting to figure that out last year, I thought, when the TJ happened.

He still doesn't trust his stuff enough when ahead in the count. That's why he has trouble putting hitters away. Needs to throw more strikes with the changeup when ahead.

And as I type that... he Ks Victor Martinez with a great change.

Quick inning for Duffy

CaliforniaChief 08-16-2013 11:39 AM

That may be the most encouraging inning of Danny Duffy's comeback. 1 K, 3 up/down, only 8 pitches.

For real. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Lough is a better hitter and a better fielder.

Though I've been here for 1/5 of them, I can confidently say that your Royals takes are second to none on this board.

C3HIEF3S 08-16-2013 11:48 AM

Nut shot.

That had to hurt like a mother****er.

Is Ice-T the Tigers' color guy? I feel like I'm watching a baseball game with voice overs from Law and Order SVU.

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:00 PM

Duffy at 50 pitches through 2 2/3 innings.

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:01 PM

Duffy can't find the strike zone.

TLO 08-16-2013 12:01 PM

Feed is a little choppy. Still.. much better than nothing.

I can't believe FSKC isn't picking up some of these games.

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:02 PM

Dyson begging Cabrera to hit it over his head..

The only thing that has changed is that he's gone from bad to worse in that department

C3HIEF3S 08-16-2013 12:03 PM

I like the Tigers announcers.

TLO 08-16-2013 12:03 PM

Good work Duffy.

Too bad his pitch count is so high.

C3HIEF3S 08-16-2013 12:05 PM

HOSMER!!!!!!

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:06 PM

Hosmer with a home run..

CaliforniaChief 08-16-2013 12:06 PM

BlackHelicopters 08-16-2013 12:09 PM

Nicely done!

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:13 PM

I say we sacrifice Duffy forever and let him pitch 190 pitches, this franchise needs this win and we can find another Duffy somewhere

No. You can't.

Lefthanders that can sit at 95 throughout an entire start are INCREDIBLY rare. Guys that can do that while also showing a plus changeup and good curveball are even more rare. Duffy needs some finishing, but has tremendous upside and is close to realizing it.

He needs to command better, but that's the LAST thing that comes back after elbow surgery. He needs to figure out he can trust his stuff against major league hitters (a lesson he appeared to be taking to heart before his elbow exploded last May).

TLO 08-16-2013 12:37 PM

Hey guess what...

No hitter still intact. :)

I'm still trying to figure out if this post is sarcasm or utter stupidity..

TLO 08-16-2013 12:38 PM

That guy visits Hardcore Pawn on a regular basis.

TLO 08-16-2013 12:39 PM

I'm fairly certain it was sarcasam gentelman.

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:39 PM

If Duffy gets through next inning with no hits allowed than It would be legit. Plus Duffy has never gone more than 6 innings pitched including Minors.

Archie F. Swin 08-16-2013 12:39 PM

just tuned in....Duffers at 110 pitches yet?

Great Expectations 08-16-2013 12:41 PM

79 pitches, I'm surprised our leadoff hitter isn't being moar productive.

Almost. But he's also throwing a no hitter.

Cephalic Trauma 08-16-2013 12:42 PM

I really hope we win, obviously, but I want Getz to have a terrible day at the plate for obvious reasons.

Not to mention Ive never seen a guy more positive and genuinely supportive of his teammates, and he has to be by far the happiest player Ive ever seen that he part of the Royals organization.

Im really rooting for him to get back from the injury and kick ass!
