Chiefs: #1 NFL Defense (#1 in Yards, #1 in PA, #1 Against Pass, #7 Against Run)
Sure, it's only the Jaguars, first week, blah, blah, blah.
Nice to have an opening day win, coaches that know how to do their jobs, a red-zone offense, and a real defense. |
Arrowhead will be rocking next week.

I have the Bucaneers defense in my fantasy league, but the Chiefs are available. Should I make a move, or wait?

Well, the nice thing about this, is that the NFC teams we're facing this year are all from Andy Reid's former division. He's played these guys twice a year for the last 14 years, so we've got a nice advantage there.
His knowledge, and that Arrowhead crowd are going to be big for us. |

When was the last time we had a DT with 1.5 sacks in a season, much less a game? Kudos to Poe.
Gotta love Tyson Jackson's run defense/sack. Gotta love Houston's 3 sacks (he's now the NFL leader in that category I believe). Gotta love Hali's pick-6. Just awesome to see these players used properly... |

Yep.
Against the Jaguars. But hey, a great stat day for individual defenders. |

He looks better than the guy we thought we drafted when we got Dorsey. |
I picked up the KC D, before someone else In my league figures it out.
|
Other defensive stats:
Justin Houston IS the sack leader as of now. Chiefs are tied with Miami for the most sacks (6) by a team. |

But Manning's my qb so it's all good. I'm starting Chiefs D at home next week, figure for a change I'll take advantage of the momentum and home opener, against Romo |
Beautiful day, went down to florida and beat a team we're supposed to beat... what a novel idea.
This D... maaan, they're gonna be sick by midseason, sure it was against putrid jax, but if that's what they can do opening day on the road, then LOOK. OUT. |
4 more sacks and we tie the number we had for the entire 2008 season...

The Chiefs D was a starving, homeless man in an alley with a 13 inch pecker and stomach pangs. The Jags were a pretty little number with a purse full of money, booze, and sandwiches.
|
they showed a stat at one point where the jags yards per play was like 8 inches..
|
Bumped...mainly cuz I'm an ass...

All we need is some east coast recognition in the way of TJax's ass on C'mon Man and this will be the greatest week 1 ever.
|
There's still two games to be played

Last year, we gave up 8.0 yards per pass attempt, good for 30th in the league. Dallas will be a good test to see if there has been dramatic improvement.
|
I'm pumped about the win just like everyone else but let's face it, the Jags may not win a single game this year. They are as bad as the 0-16 Lions were. Just pathetic....
The next three weeks, Dallas at home, Philly on the road at night, and then the Giants at home (MY FIRST GAME AT ARROWHEAD EVER), will be the real test of what we are made of. These are three tough very physical football teams. If we end 3-1, we have bragging rights and should be proud. |
Houston-Poe-Catapano-Hali is a 3rd down pass rush sub package combo that could end up being the best in the entire league.

Capistrano was a much bigger dude than I expected. I wasn't able to see much of him in the preseason games. |

I love what I see from this defense but I remain cautiously optimistic.
Of course, this was only the Jags but the fact that we thoroughly dominated them left me impressed and is a good start. That's what a good defense should do against a sh*t offense anyway. I want to see how they respond against a really good offense like the Donks or somebody else for that matter. I want to see if Sutton is that tactician where he is capable of coordinating a good game plan and making adjustments on the fly during games when necessary against good offenses. We have the talent on D, but I want to see if we got a real got D coordinator/brain trust to run the show. I'm a little concerned that the offense may not compliment the defense. The talent on D is ahead of the talent on O, but the thing is we need to sustain drives. I don't like seeing too many short drives on offense. That just tires out a defense. I hope they don't burnout by seasons end or I hope we have players with phenomenal endurance and good rotational players to give the starters a breather or two. |
