Reid Wednesday Press Conference talks injuries/moves etc...

http://www.kcchiefs.com/media-center...0-6d41c71ae5db

Says he wants to continue to work on throwing the ball deep and improve completion percentage. Discusses injuries a bit and O-line moves in case Fisher cant play and talks D line moves with bringing in new Nose Tackle/DE love and other stuff. These injuries and lack of recent pass rush make me a bit nervous. Hopefully we can get after Rivers better than we did Manning and get the W

If I read another post criticizing the pass-rush against manning, I may brain a small animal to death with a claw hammer.

Red Dawg 11-20-2013 07:41 PM

Donks were 6 for 16 on third down. We had chances but couldnt score. Drops and the fumble killed us. Three shots from the one and we failed. That was the game.

Yeah, Manning gets the ball out earlier than anyone.

Where was i the two games prior, though?

I want mo' betta' sacks.

Halfcan 11-20-2013 08:25 PM

How long before we bench Avery- he sucks. I don't think any of the other WR's on the roster could be worse than him lately.

Sure, sacks are nice no doubt, but this defense did stop Manning several times, most notably 3 times in a row in the middle of the game. There are only so many times you can expect to hold Manning down. The offense is what lost us this game.

Start braining small animals. Jeff tuel and case keenam laugh at our so called pass rush.

this is true. He had a couple of nice games early in the season but has been crap since.

Vietnam58 11-20-2013 10:28 PM

avery needs to be cut period. . hes a liability. .

Sorter 11-20-2013 10:32 PM

Step 1: Cut Bowe, Avery, Dexter.
Step 2: Start Hemingway, Williams, Jenkins
Step 3: Trade for Jon Baldwin
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit/SB

Why?

Because if the ball is out of the QB's hand before even a talented pass rusher could reasonably reach the QB, that's not the pass rusher's fault.

it is what it is at WR this season -- they will roll with this group. but if this group continues to underwhelm as we end he year, next season, I think, will be different -- different WR group.

Well then the WRs shouldnt have time to get open especially if they are being jammed. Also what about the bills game? We need an inside rush so QB cant step up then evweything changes. We havent had that lately.

Special teams was off as well. Missed out on at least a couple of times pinning them down inside the 5. That was a big deal for the Colts. I'm not blaming them (it was a team loss, but it was a bit of a disappointment).

True. I expected to see the beating Welker took near the line of scrimmage shared by more of the Broncos receivers. The other three main targets are, though, much larger. Even if the Chiefs try that tactic in the rematch, the larger receivers could survive the beating and get past it only to run free against a secondary that has already committed itself in the first five yards. Manning would have to hold the ball longer, and the bargain might be a few bigger plays and a handful of sacks.

I didn't see the Bills game.

We'll just skip some steps for assuming this would fix many problems all on its own.

Yeah, Bowe getting cut is NOT going to happen.

kcxiv 11-21-2013 03:31 AM

Alex also can't hold the ball all day like he sometimes does he's gotta get it out. U can see how manning does it if no one is open he will just miss a receiver on purpose and just lose the down, not the down and yards.

You are making an assumption that Alex is as smart as Peyton.

scho63 11-21-2013 07:56 AM

On a side note about all the drops, Jamaal Charles in SECOND in drops at 9 behind our good friend Devone Bess of Cleveland.

Jamaal hasn't been himself at all this year....he still has the heart of a lion but something seems to be missing.

Sandy Vagina 11-21-2013 08:13 AM

Would be good if there was someone on the roster that could push Avery to #3. Doubt any could, and that's sad. If Kyle Williams is up to speed enough, I'd get him mixed in at #2 with Avery and see if he can impress. SF people bitched about Kyle as a PR, and that's fine.. but he can be a good WR if given a chance. Kaepernick rarely threw his way, since he is overly reliant on VD, Boldin, and scrambling for frequent sacks.

5 sacks on Keenum

Buffalo ran the ball the whole game. Try again.

Yea Keenum was sacked 5 times in the 4th quarter. It may have started out all blowjobs and cotton candy for him but then it got ugly.

Hammock Parties 11-21-2013 09:27 AM

I've heard that throwing the ball deep isn't important, though. Why is Reid trying to improve that?

Drops happen when your targets increase.

Well he has had problems with his feet since camp and the O-line hasn't played very well all season.

Exactly. He needs to just get rid of it if it's not there...I've also noticed that Smith throws to the check-down late which results in bad things as well.

ChiefRocka 11-21-2013 09:49 AM

The way I saw it, the few times we did blitz, the Manning threw it away real fast. Moar blitzkreig bop plz.

I honestly don't have a problem with Dex this season. He's had a few drops and one HUGE one, but he's made some great catches and has improved overall. With better WR's + Dex, he could be a much better option.

Agreed. I don't think he has confidence in the O-line.

This. If the play is broken, throwing it to a back behind the LOS is not good. Everyone knows where the ball is going.

He has the same amount of targets as a lot of WRs.

One sack in the last three games sucks, but it doesn't really worry me... teams are ramping up hardcore to stop them out of fear and now have enough tape to start spotting tendencies.

Obi Wan Sutton will begin to counter their schemes and you can bet those numbers from the last three games aren't lost on our defensive players, they'll dial up the intensity and physicality.

If i were Phyllis Rivers, i'd be donning a lot of extra padding this week...

Chiefs Pantalones 11-21-2013 04:33 PM

@adamteicher: Good stuff from ESPN Stats and Info: Chiefs blitzed 26% of time in last 3 games (with 1 sack). Blitzed 34% in 1st 7 games (35 sacks)
