-- Nothing is quite like truly helping make someones life a little better...
Even if it's only for a week.
There's a homeless guy that walks around my area - a lot. He pushes a shopping cart loaded w/ winter survival stuff and other bull shit. I've joked w/ the QT employees and I refer to this man as "Busta Crimes" But anyhow today i saw him and my heart gave in - as it's getting pretty cool for Atlanta, this afternoon. I talked to him for the first time today and asked if he was hungry - as tactfully as I could w/o insulting him. I went to QT which was a block away - bought him a $40 in qt gift card dollars. I almost felt like crying doing all of this - he said 'thank you for your blessing' I told him that I TOO was blessed and nobody will go w/o food if I can prevent it. I then asked him if he was cold - he said yes that some of his blankets needed to see the cleaners - I told him that I'd BRB - and I went home and got about three high quality blankets and three Sheex pillows that are/were queen sized. I feel really blessed and I hope you all have a good week, next week. Pardon any typos - I actually have a date to Chequers which is a Gilbert Robinson Bristol Bar&Grille clone. Take it easy! -SR |
all that and you're getting laid a lot more
|
If you were truly doing it for strangers, and not to just make yourself feel better, you wouldn't come bragging about it here.
|
Good deal, bro. You're a quality individual. Way too much girl stuff flowing through your veins sometimes but I love you anyway.

Well done, RP.

I think it would provide some pretty good research if you could report on how he stretches his dollar with this gift? I mean, what food will he buy and such..how can he make it last the best?

I applaud you SR . Lots of people have thoughts of doing good but few actually take action. Good job !

Never trust a hobo.

I've been printing off applications in green ink to for mcdonalds and folding them into money size shapes so when bums ask me for Money they think they are getting a dollar bill but they are actually getting a chance to stop ****ing sucking ass.
|
Good job SR. We need more people like you in this world.
|
Nice job, man.

First, bless you for your kindness.
Now, my anecdote. I had some stuff stolen from the back of my work truck. It was in a secure lot in downtown San Francisco, and I just forgot to move things into the construction trailer. I lost a jacket, work boots, flashlight and a fall protection harness. I figured, "well some homeless guy will be dolled up tomorrow. My gym was 2 blocks away and I walked past a blue homeless tent on the sidewalk that I never really noticed until about a week after my stuff was stolen. That day, the tent is ripped up and my harness is on the sidewalk and my flashlight is in the gutter. No sign of my jacket or boots. I can only conclude he got rolled for having stuff too nice and he wasn't big enough to keep them. Here is wishing the guy is big enough or mean enough to keep those pillows and blankets you gave him. It was still the right thing to do no matter what. |

I remember that story you posted about buying a meal for a family at a restaurant. Always known you're a good guy.

Perhaps he did it as a challenge for others to do the same. Lighten up. |

....that said ...the spirit of giving doesn't come with qualifiers...wouldn't you agree? |
Good work.
Now I'm leaving this thread because it's infected with the odor of Chris. |

I have done similar in a few instances. However don't give cash or gift cards if you want the reciever to buy food. Chances are he won't. Buy him food. Once a week buy him a hotdog for 40 weeks. Just saying bro. But I do absolutely love the kind spirit you are and where your intentions are.

Awesome deed!

We all gain some amount of personal satisfaction from helping others. This doesn't diminish the actual act. Bravo Zulu, SR! P. S. I occasionally have similar ideas, but I just buy the man a meal so I have peace of mind that those dollars aren't directly being smoked, toked, intravenously injected, or converted to a cardboard box of Napa's finest. Yes, I do it to make myself feel better but the recipient of the meal doesn't seem to care. |
