Culver's

They're opening one just down the road from me. I've never had it. Never seen one in KC. Any good?

BryanBusby 03-10-2014 07:56 PM

Nothing special, but definitely edible food.

O.city 03-10-2014 07:56 PM

Good Ice cream and butter burgers, IIRC

Shaid 03-10-2014 07:56 PM

Pretty good, better than most fast food places.

Deberg_1990 03-10-2014 07:57 PM

Its no In and Out or Whataburger, but old white people love it.

DaFace 03-10-2014 07:57 PM

I've got one less than 5 minutes from my house. It's decent, but nothing special IMO.

Rausch 03-10-2014 07:57 PM

I like it.

More expensive than a McD's but better quality of food and bigger selection.

Check out their menu online...

Pants 03-10-2014 07:57 PM

It's ****ing delicious, man.

MTG#10 03-10-2014 07:58 PM

Meh...Ive had better, Ive had worse...

Pablo 03-10-2014 07:59 PM

It's better than your lower end fast food burgers for sure.

Ice cream selection is legit as well.

Well hell, if McD's is our barometer...

BryanBusby 03-10-2014 07:59 PM

On a side note, Culver's is a cool ass place.

My buddy wrote some really ****ing bizarre bullshit letter to see if they'd give him some free food. They apparently loved the letter and mailed him back an envelope stuffed with coupons for free stuff.

Was neat as hell when you're a poor college student lol

McD's doesn't give you free doggie ice cream...

KcMizzou 03-10-2014 08:00 PM

I was wondering if it was a regional chain expanding. I've barely heard of it. Never seen one in the KC area.

There's one about a mile away from me in Raymore :)

GloryDayz 03-10-2014 08:01 PM

It's worth trying for sure. Suffice it to say, it's dinner when you don't want to cook.

Yeah, I didn't even realize they existed outside of Colorado until now.

Is it similar to Braums? Love me sum Braums

Similar, but Braums does ice cream, where Culver's is custard. I'd say closer to Dairy Queen.

Predarat 03-10-2014 08:06 PM

Its somewhat similar to Freddies Frozen Custard, but not as good.

I'd say the burgers are slightly bigger but very similar to 5 guys.

Same deal: comes plain you tell them what you want on it.

3 can eat at Culvers' for what you'd pay for 2 at 5 guys...

Yeah, agree with that.

Predarat 03-10-2014 08:07 PM

Though you may have never had Freddies Frozen Custard so my post above might be useless.

Hammock Parties 03-10-2014 08:08 PM

It's basically the poverty Braum's of the midwest.

Bugeater 03-10-2014 08:09 PM

They have cheese curds.

mr. tegu 03-10-2014 08:09 PM

Freddy's is better.

That's a plus. I've only ever eaten at Five Guys once, and it was awesome.

It's better than McDonalds, but completely overrated, especially for the price.

I can get a much, much better burger for a couple bucks more at BRGR or Beer Kitchen.

displacedinMN 03-10-2014 08:13 PM

Lots here in MPLS.

Better than 'fast food'
Good tenderloins and custard.

TribalElder 03-10-2014 08:14 PM

5 guys burgers are the number 1

Culvers is ok. It's like steak and shake or winsteads or Freddy's

In and out is overhyped

Snack pak at culvers is the cheapest deal

Look. Five Guys is a decent fast food burger. It's better than McDonalds. But it is not all that great. It's about a 6/10, especially for the ****ing price.

It's way, way overrated. I'd rather get a burger from Steak 'n Shake or Red Robin, and it's about the same price.

Al Bundy 03-10-2014 08:23 PM

Really good Concrete's. Blueberry is the best

Red Robin patties are poor quality - that's my main gripe with them.

TribalElder 03-10-2014 08:25 PM

Red robin burgers are tasty but pricey

5 guys is taxing also

Simply Red 03-10-2014 08:25 PM

Red Robin patties are more mysterious than even that of Wendy's meat.

TribalElder 03-10-2014 08:26 PM

Wendy's "meat"

Simply Red 03-10-2014 08:26 PM

I bit into something hard at Red Robin - OK?

Forever disgusted. You just can't undo that.

Never been to Red Robin, but I really dislike Wendy's. Specifically the meat. It's like flavorless filler.

Let's face it none of them are that tremendous - you want a good sandwich? Carnegie Deli in Manhattan.

Hammock Parties 03-10-2014 08:38 PM

Another place that is definitely better than Five Guys is Hi-Boy.

In n out. The most overrated burger joint in the history of burger joints. This, from a guy that lived on the west coast for three years. It's like five guys impregnated Wendy's and Wendy smoked crack while carrying the baby. Just not. That. Good.

greatgooglymoogly 03-10-2014 08:44 PM

Their frozen custard is. Vanilla with brownie pieces and raspberries - my bimonthly treat.

Strongside 03-10-2014 08:45 PM

If you want a really good burger, hit up a BRGR in KC. I'm also still a Westport Flea Market Loyalist.

That stupid bitch needs something in her mouth, the more she opens that ****ing thing the more she loses her appeal.

Simply Red 03-10-2014 09:09 PM

that patty doesn't looked browned well - all of the ornaments look pretty - but I need to see more marking or sear, I don't want a burger that looks to have been cooked on low in a skillet.

Simply Red 03-10-2014 09:11 PM

Ottos in KC used to be pretty good - they're no longer in biz though.
