Probably Tony Gwynn or Junior in his Seattle days.

AJ Pierzynski is one of those guys that you would love if he was on your team but otherwise hate the shit out of.

Brianfo 06-01-2014 06:51 PM

Ken griffey Jr.
He could of been best ever if he didn't play in steroid era!

CoMoChief 06-01-2014 06:54 PM

Mark McGwire

Loved watching him in BP before games.

Mr_Tomahawk 06-01-2014 06:54 PM

I duno if this counts...I consider myself a Royals fan. As a kid before I moved to KC, I lived in Minneapolis. I loved Kirby.

sedated 06-01-2014 07:03 PM

Randy Johnson before he was a Yankee. Or Greg Maddux.

Al Bundy 06-01-2014 07:03 PM

My 1st time ever to Busch Stadium (the old one) I caught a foul ball hit by Ron Gant.

I also loved Eric Davis. I have an old Reds hat because of him.

My favorite NON-Royal from back in the day is Don Mattingly... even though he played for the Yankees, I liked him. In fact, only Yankee great to NOT win a WS ring.

Mojo Jojo 06-01-2014 07:43 PM

Carlton Fisk

BillSelfsTrophycase 06-01-2014 07:49 PM

Greg Gagne

Then back when the owner still cared by the grace of Ewing Kauffman, he did play on my team

I remember he got a pitch thrown at him and he walked to the opposing dugout talking shit
.next pitch he bombs one to left center

Stares the dugout down the entire time he's circling the bases

Talk about a throwback. ..

The most bizarre thing. Team had Mattingly, Willie Randolph, Winfield, Henderson, and Righetti as a closer. Yet Mattingly never once made the playoffs until the end of his career.

Any player who juiced and hit a lot of homeruns.

Baseball was better back then.

BillSelfsTrophycase 06-01-2014 08:07 PM

Back on track, I did like Frank Thomas

You could throw him the nastiest pitch ever

But if it wasn't in the zone, he wouldn't bite

siberian khatru 06-01-2014 08:17 PM

Nolan Ryan

Named my first born after him and Brett

Three7s 06-01-2014 08:19 PM

Pitchers-

Pedro Martinez
Randy Johnson
Mark Mulder (pre-cardinals)
Greg Maddox
Roy Halladay (this dude had complete ownership of the Royals, and I'm talking early 2000s/late 1990s when the Royals had Dye, Beltran, Damon, aka: one of the better offenses in baseball, he was amazing)

Hitters-

Ken Griffey Jr
Garret Anderson
Roberto Alomar
Jim Thome
Bernie Williams

ChiefsCountry 06-01-2014 08:21 PM

Pujols during his Cardinals days was always worth watching.

gblowfish 06-01-2014 08:24 PM

When I was growing up, and the Royals were just starting up, my favorite baseball player was Julian Javier of the St. Louis Cardinals. He played 2B, so did I. My dad's favorite was Al Kaline of the Detroit Tigers. George Brett was his second favorite.
