Good late night eats in KC?
 

So the last time I went to KC to see Slayer, my buddies and I didn't do homework and look into decent late night eats near the Uptown Theater. We ended up at Chubbys but I was curious if you guys knew of any other good late night eats in the Metro/downtown KC area.

Slayer? Really?

I've been wanting to hit up Chubby's myself. Is it any good?

There's another 24-hour diner in KC around the corner from some gay bar, I think.

Pancho's on Main St, Food trucks in Westport on Westport Rd and Pennsylvania Ave.

"Good" in the sense that you are probably drunk and really can't tell good food vs. bad food, AKA Taco Bell's entire reason for existence.

Used to be Nichols, which was nothing special, but decent drunken gluttony. I haven't been since it's changed to Sosa's.

I lived by that Poncho's for years, that's a real chicken burrito (dark meat).

Chubby's used to be great when I worked there as my first table-waiting job in the early 90s. The burger and chicken fried steak were amazing. I have no idea if it's slipped in 20 years though.

The owners and managers were all mob. The waitstaff consisted of me and a bunch of female ex-cons. It was an eye-opening experience for a 22-year-old from the suburbs to say the least.

i know a guy, while I wasn't with him, and heard a story of him going there to get the Truck Stop;.....then ordered a BA slice of pecan pie while he waited lol. That dude can EAT. and he's not even all that big either.

Don't remember the name of the diner, but the bar is Missie B's. "Drag" bar rather than "gay" bar if we are getting specific - there are gay people there for sure, but more lesbians than gay guys, and lots of straight people.

39th Street Diner is what you're thinking of.

Don't be fooled by the McD's on 38th and Broadway if you are on foot - they are open 24 hours but close the lobby at like 11pm.

My vote would be Town Topic. Or Taqueria Mexico on SW Blvd serves food until 4am.

It really depends where I'm drinking at if I'm eating drunk food late.

In Westport, I'll grab a gyro from the Jerusalem Cafe truck. **** Kelly's pizza. A bunch of my dumb-ass friends always want to get that average ass pizza and wait for an hour. Won't do it. Although if it isn't super late then The Foundry is probably still serving food, and that's always a good bet.

Chubby's. Meh. It's not my favorite, but I don't hate it. Like sedated said, it's pretty well a Waffle House for all intents and purposes.

Town Topic is always delicious to me. But it's a real bitch to stand in a packed crowd with 40 of your closest drunk friends to wait for a burger.

Had my fair share of Town Topic Truck Stops during my days / nights of working at bars. Good eats at 4:00 AM.

I've ate from that food truck about 7 times. I've had the green apple splatters the next day 7 times. Not sure if mixes well wiff Al Kahall.

I have an indestructible stomach. There really isn't much out there that runs through me, so I can't speak to this point.

I've been wanting to try Jerusalem Cafe. Good?

Nothing good happens after 1am (at least that's always what my parents said).

If youre going to Jerusalem Cafe save your money and hit up the buffett at Jerusalem Bakery 10 bucks really good shit and its the same people who own Jerusalem Cafe.

Its called Sosas and it sucks. Only go on Tuesday for .85 cent tacos.

Chicago dog at Dave's Stagecoach might be the perfect post-Slayer meal.
