Can't say we didn't see it coming. Part of a great draft class, and really played some good football for us. I get it, but I'll miss him.
|
To the Raiders?

Interdasting...
|
Our CB situation looks dire.

Terez A. Paylor @TerezPaylor 30s
The #Chiefs have announced they’ve released cornerback Brandon Flowers. |
Time to pay Justin Houston and Alex Smith.

Another talent wasted by Pioli.
God Damnit! |
He has been released. Had a great run for us considering his size. I think we'll be fine without him. The only reason why they were so bad in the 3rd CB position last year after Flowers went down was because it was Dunta Robinson playing that role. We should be fine with Parker stepping up, 3rd round Gaines, etc.
|
WTF? It's not so bad that he's being released, as he's injury prone and expensive, but.....
.....who the hell is going to fill his spot? |

We are perfectly set up to get a franchise QB in the next draft.

No compensation. No nothing.
Someone please justify this. |

Opens up cap room to extend Justin Houston/Alex Smith, more importantly Houston. |

Now, who do ya' like? I'm down with the Italian lad thus far. |

Anybody who has paid attention...knew that this was coming sometime after June 1st. If it didn't happen now....it was going to happen next offseason. His contract is the reason that he got cut.
|
The team wasnt going to win with Flowers anyway
|
|
I'm not too surprised by this, and I've kept my mouth mostly shut this off-season. I'm going on record now though. 5 wins tops. This team is regressing and in further rebuild mode. We'll be contenders in 2017. We may win a playoff game before I die. Maybe.

Jason_OTC @Jason_OTC 1m
#Chiefs save $7.5 million in cap space in both 2014 and 2015 which is much needed as they are very tight on cap room |
Flowers just paid for Smiffs extension

Remember when the Chiefs trotted out Bartee and Warfield? Yeah....well...welcome to 10 years ago. |

You guys can jump off a bridge if you want, but losing Flowers really doesn't change much for the upcoming season.

Couldn't even get a 5th or 6th round pick for him??
|

He has one bad year after a great career and all of a sudden your so quick to call him washed up? If the Chiefs had a capable corner it wouldnt be a big deal. Right now all they have is hope. |
Quote:
Hali will be next if he doesn't get double digit sacks this season or if he has a noticeable decrease in quality of play. I think he still has a couple of effective years left in him because he never depended on elite athleticism anyways, but the team might feel differently with Ford in the fold. |
Should rename the Kansas City Ifs that is all this team is a bunch of ifs.

Our secondary was horrific last year, and we are worried that it might get worse?
It's all about pass rush and slowing receivers off the line. That's it. I like Flowers, but this is hardly worth giving a **** about. |

They'll tag Smith and draft a QB next year. Quote:

He played some good ball for us and I think injuries more than age contributed to his poor showing last year. I'm not happy to see him gone, but I understand the move and wish him well wherever he ends up.

Parker has been pretty good in limited snaps. Owens is a vet slot guy. We play our safeties more than we do our corners anyways. You're more likely to see the combo of: Cooper, Smith, and Parker along with Abdullah, Berry, and Commings. than you will the combo of: Cooper, Smith, Parker, and Owens/Gaines along with Abdullah and Berry. |
So if we saved 15 mil over the next two years, why couldn't we have signed Albert?
SMH |
Haha now our safeties are going to moonlight as shutdown CBs.
Hilarious homers. |
Rebuilding, get over it

One team with a good secondary beats Manning in the SB (groundbreaking) and that's the new Formula? Look at the list of champions the last 10 years that had a great secondary and get back to me. |
Quote:
We routinely played with 3 safeties on the field last year, more so than we did with 4 corners from what I recall. |

Pete Damilatis @PFF_Pete 4m
Even after a poor 2013, Brandon Flowers' +35.5 @PFF coverage grade in the last 5 seasons is the 5th-highest of any CB. |
Terez A. Paylor @TerezPaylor 2m
According to the NFLPA, #Chiefs had $2.6M in cap room before move. $9.8M is lots of room to get something done w/Smith and/or Houston. |
Quote:
Parker? ****a please. He's a JAG at best. Owens is a JAG. There is no talent at the CB position anymore. When you're pinning your hope on a pair of UDFA's...your secondary is in trouble. |

God willing, Houston. |

Cooper played pretty solid in the playoff game against the Colts. Tons of potential in him following a season in which he had 20 PDFs and 3 INTs and seeing as he only switched to CB in the middle of his college career but was good enough to put up those kinds of numbers in the NFL as a rookie, the sky is the limit for Cooper as a perimeter corner. He'll be fine. |
Um.. so who's starting at CB now?

Jim Trotter @JimTrotter_NFL 9m
Early potential landing spots for Flowers: Atlanta & Washington. Hearing the Pioli connection is in play with Falcons. |

Kc will be completely useless to use in madden this year now
|
So people are mad cause we just cut our 3rd best corner back from last season? Flowers was great, but he was terrible last year and doesn't fit in the system. Cutting him and extending Houston soon >>>> Keeping him and hoping to re-sign Houston next year.
