Planet Sub?
Just landed them as a new account in our direct mail publication and since they're new to our city don't know much about them and was hoping to get some feedback on what others think of their products.
TIA |
Order the Tijuana Taxi......you'll thank me later.
|
Nothing with Planet in it is any good.
|
Their bread is pretty good. Fan of their meatball sub and their soups. Would recommend.
|
We did a ranking of these things and they came in somewhere in between Subway and Firehouse Subs. Probably in the Jersey Mikes/Mr Goodcents league.
|
Love me some Planet Sub!
|
Not as good as they used to be. But get the Tijuana Taxi sub cream cheese for mayo

Tijuana Taxi and Dagwood's Dream
|
They're my favorite sub shop. I don't eat there often because my favorite sandwich (The Planet Sub) is really high calorie.
|
Beefeater FTW!
|
They moved into Emporia right before I left. Far far better than subway.

Love Yellow Sub in Lawrence, love Planet Sub when the expanded to KC metro, ecstatic when one showed up in St. Louis. To top it off, the first time I visited was when my parents came to visit, the place was fairly dead, but the day manager was the only guy on duty. He was little ticked the the higher ups hadn't brought in some help, apparently a couple employees called in sick or something. It took a little longer to get our subs, but we ordered small subs and he gave us large all around, brought it out to us with cups for soda and chips as well. Sammiches were loaded. Me and pops went Beefeater, moms went Tijuana Taxi. |

That doesn't take away from Planet Sub being yummy, though. |
Meatball grinder = FTW
Spicy blackbean soup is really good, as is their tortilla chicken soup They are staffed by dirty stinking hippies, so you know that shit is going to be tasty. NOBODY does uberdelicious comfort food like dirty stinking hippies. They have perfected the genre; years of testing while suffering from munchies... |

Their Bacon Cheddar soup is lights out, as well. |
Dammit, Joe. I'm going to have to make a trek up to Planet Sub for lunch, now. Anybody want anything?

Used to eat at the one in Springfield, it was pretty good. They had a decent happy hour special at one time.
|
got rid of the italian. **** them.
|
Planet Sub is very good. Waaay above Subway/a decent amount ahead of Goodcents/below Firehouse. I get the cheesy crab from time to time, but I'm a big fan of imitation crab.
|
I've never been a big fan of Subway, Mr Goodcents, etc; and became a huge fan of Planet Sub when they started popping up around KC. Usually end up getting the KC Masterpiece.
|
****ing LOVE Planet Sub. Delish.
|
Is that the sub shop the guys from 810 spend 10 minutes eating on air?

EDIT - I think Petro's crew pimps out Goodcents |

The best subs are from Sub Shop in Columbia, MO. Planet Sub here in KC is the closest thing I've seen. They're a mom and pop business, hire college kids, make good sandwiches. A little pricey, but very good quality. Soups are great in the wintertime.
I quit going to the Goodcents in OPKS near where I work. The family that runs that franchise are ultra cheap. They slice the meats razor thin, work hard to give you the least for your money. Best deal on a sub in OPKS is a ham and cheese sub at Casey's General Store. 12" with all the fixings, loaded with ham and cheese of your choice for $5. |
They just brought them down to Austin, I damn near shit my pants when I saw they were opening the two locations.
Love that place. Also, direct mailers? Do you send them to people who churn their own butter and use rotary phones? |

I'd say it's superior to Goodcents, Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc. It's above all of those, quality wise. Maybe the design/interior of the restaurants is simpler, but the food is better.

I've never had Planet Sub and there's one pretty close to me. I'll check it out sometime. |

The $2 turkey was offered after every Royals win several years ago. They'd run the ad with Temple Of The Dog's Hunger Strike playing in the background.
