The Peyton Manning rule...what did you think?

What did you think of the Princess Pey-Pey rule last night? I realize it was a pre-season game but I think they called 6+ defensive holds or the like, including those that were declined

Quesadilla Joe 08-08-2014 08:23 AM

It sucks. Seattle's starters gained more yards from penalties than they did actual yards.

Gonzo 08-08-2014 08:24 AM

It's really starting to spoil the game. Too much offense is watering down the product. The average score per game will increase this year by 10 points, at least.

I miss the days of defensive battles.

Snapplez 08-08-2014 08:25 AM

League was supposed to emphasize it for both sides of the ball. I doubt anyone is surprised that defenses were gettin hammered by it

KCUnited 08-08-2014 08:30 AM

I hated watching it, but I'm stoked to see how many fantasy pts I'll rack up this year.

Garcia Bronco 08-08-2014 08:30 AM

Its the Legion of Boom rule. :)

We all know this is the direct result of Prince Peyton having his shit kicked in, in what was supposed to be "his moment". No one said anything about previous defenses who dominated, like Baltimore, etc. But once the Golden Boy got embarrassed then it was time for a change.

Can't wait till that ****er is gone but of course the NFL will appoint another golden boy like Luck to take his place.

Direckshun 08-08-2014 08:48 AM

I'm pretty sure it was only called against us. So as far as I can tell, we're just looking for an excuse not to complain that our secondary is going to get us slaughtered this year.

LoneWolf 08-08-2014 08:48 AM

I know we saw a lot of penalties in the game last night, but as I look at the other pregame scores it doesn't look like all the games saw a huge spike in scoring. Does anyone know if there were as many flags in the other games for defensive holding?

They passed a lot more than we did...thus the opportunity for calls more against us

I just saw where there were 25 flags in the Denver/Seattle game but sorry don't know how many were defensive holding.

I disagree. They are trying to enforce the existing rule, and if the NFL wanted Peyton to have his moment they would make it happen without having to do this. This enforcement really benefits people like Alex Smith.

What, exactly, would the NFL have to do to prop up Manning other than to assure his WRs have more space?

I am not bitching about the Refs. The Refs are doing what they were told to do. Dumbass.

There were 3 defensive holding penalties, all of them against Denver.

If you include illegal contact, which I think was also supposed to be emphasized, there were 4 penalties. Again, they were all against Denver.

They will suck off Brady for 5 more years after he's gone and then Luck for another 15.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-08-2014 09:35 AM

Pete is right for once. They are ruining the game.

srvy 08-08-2014 10:56 AM

I am hopeing the officials are just focusing on this in preseason then back off and look the other way in the regular. I just can't see the league wanting this flag fest to extend the games approaching 4+ hours.

Not enforce illegal picks, or offensive holding.

I don't play much of fantasy football but I imagine that many fantasy owners are saying the same thing so your point is moot. So they get to rack up points just as well as you.

denver games are gonna be flag fests
until it's sure that manning is winning, he is getting his seconfd and last ring this year no matter how much it damages the shield

Titty Meat 08-08-2014 10:53 PM

He is a choker but the league will make damn sure he is in position to choke. **** that shit, we are the best team in the division and probably the AFC. Yeah I said it!!! I just listened to Peter King's Chiefs analysis.......ROFL He don't know shit about the Chiefs. Ignant, just like the rest of the media....they can go suck a fatty

milkman 08-09-2014 08:31 AM

The league has been creating/tweaking rules for 15 years catering to Peyton Manning.

If he played in the 80s or earlier, his pussy would have shriveled by his third season.

John Dope 08-09-2014 12:12 PM

They have tweeked so many rules over the past decade that eventually they are going to go to far. We might be there. I am more of a defensive type of fan. I like watching the defense more than the offense. I am very disappointed in the way they are calling pass interference and illegal contact in the preseason.

John Dope 08-09-2014 12:14 PM

Also have you seen the rule about touching the quarterback's face mask? A guy touched Matt Ryan's face mask last night and it was a penalty. It's a new rule. You can't even accidently bump it with your shoulder.

Yup. That coward and his daddy have been a huge part in the game going to shit.
