More 'Orioles Hangout' goodness
http://forum.orioleshangout.com/foru...-Hurts-So-Much
Why This Loss Hurts So Much I completely disagree with those who say we had more talent than the Royals. In fact, I think we had the least amount of talent starting the playoffs than any other team in the AL. We had an offense missing 3 starters. There isn't another team in the AL that could have done more under these conditions. The reason it hurts so bad is that we lucked into the best matchup possible and our magic ran out. I was hoping beyond hope for more magic but was cognizant of the fact that our offense wasn't going to be able to score in Detroit, Oakland or Kansas City. We need more speed. We need more obp. We need more consistency. The most painful thing about this is that our luck got transferred to a team that wasn't much better than us. Make no mistake, had we gotten their luck, we could have won. The answer is to get better because next year, we may find ourselves facing a team with a 200-250 million cap in the playoffs. KC didn't swing for the hills. WE did... every. Single. Time. It was like clockwork. Yost did the same thing pretty much every game. Grind out a couple of runs, swap in a few pinch runners in late innings and manage the bullpen properly. And now they're going to the WS and we aren't. MSK We had plenty of opportunities, especially with bases loaded, to counteract the luck the classless royals displayed. For some reason following the first game loss we seemed to choke and lose belief in ourselves - which is maddening because that belief has won us so many games this year. It is a shame we didn't get the Angels as I think they were a better matchup for us and think we would be WS bound right now, but it wasn't to be. I don't think the royals luck can continue, and think - and hope - it will be a procession for the NL winners. Just gutted really. Such an immense opportunity now gone. And to think a few weeks ago many were talking up a possible beltway WS, and I was certain we would be there with or without the Nats. Oh, and on another note - if the Os had reached the WS I would have won ?500 and if they won that, it would be ?2000 - so extra gutted to get this close and throw it away |
I'd rather......ah **** it, have fun, Deberg!

"Classless Royals." LMAO

I joined that forum a week ago and got banned on my first post

Yeah I think I must of been one of the first royals fans to hit that forum cus they accepted me immediately. I was going to post something meaningful about the matchup being a good one but then I was like f it and posted a nice troll post. got banned in 10 minutes. lol

I don't see that if a team uses a formula and sticks with it to win four games in a row just how is that "luck"? BTW Andrew Luck plays for the Colts & plays football this was not "luck" for the Royals to win.
You can call it destiny but I wouldn't call it luck. |

Mine too Sensitive bunch over there, huh? |
They weren't exactly being douchey, they were just way overconfident. And boy did they get kicked in the balls
|
What a bunch of classless idiots. The Royals are classless and lucky. Lucky. ****ing...lucky. A lucky sweep. LMAO If we ended up playing all 7 games in this series, KC would have won 6 if not all 7. And how are they classless? For celebrating wins and dumping Gatorade on a player after each win? K...

I'm sure that sister****er would have liked to play the Angels. They got ****ing swept. I can't think of a single time where I wouldn't rather play the swept over the sweeper.
What a bunch of eunuchs. I almost feel bad for some of the Balt players. They played pretty hard and pretty good ball. And ultimately, they didn't appear to be so douchey. But MY GOD. The fans on that board. |
Do we still want Nellie Cruz?

What I find funny is that they keep talking about the Royals' shortcomings in during the regular season. Why would that matter in post season?

That is just unbelievable. It's ****ing sports. It is BY DESIGN not fair. Thus, they have to be sister****ers. There is no other way. |

And boy, thank our lucky stars we were sooooo lucky to sweep the 2 best teams in baseball that had homefield advantage.

Chiefs fans save their whining for draft day, not game day.

I lost a lot of respect for orioles fans after reading that message board the last week. They where asking for pitchers to hit our players and hoping Gordon broke his arm when he hit the wall lastnight. I have been reading that board for the last couple of months, a coworker I am friends with has been a member since 1999 there. They seemed like nice folks until the Royals kicked there teeth in, that's when they got real nasty. Before the series started most said if they lose they would root for the royals. After the sweep 95 percent did a complete turnaround.
|
I've about had with them continuously using the work lucky. You don't sweep two series in a row on luck alone.

I can't believe anybody would use silly rationalization to explain losses.

I want to know what "luck" we had? Even if the Catcher holds onto the ball yesterday, Escobar is still safe because he beat the tag. I guess we were just lucky that after winning the first 2 games in CY that the last 2 games weren't played at CY?

I always love when people reach for the 'classless opposition' argument.
It's always the loser, and it's just a way to feel superior in spite of being a loser. |

I think the size of the K saved us a bit, they would have had something like 4 home runs last night at their home park.
|
A lucky sweep by a classless team-lol Oh Balt fans - your vag is bleeding.
Oh no-Guthrie wore a shirt that hurt our feelings. Oh no Dyson said the series would not go back to Balt-and was right. What Classless showboats.. |

They're pissed that the Royals got hot, actually played up to their talent level, Yost out-managed Buck and they were obviously outmatched. They've got their rose colored glasses on and refuse to believe their team had their shit pushed in by a small market afterthought of an organization. **** Baltimore and **** what they think. When KC brings home the trophy they'll be forced to shut the **** up. |
The best was the old line "act like you've been there before". Well we havnt... If they won there wildcard game and then swept every team up to the World Series, and where not excited as hell I would think something was wrong.

There seem to be a few posters at least that see the truth for what it is. The Royals played better. Our bullpen was nails, and our defense was unlike anything I've ever seen before. I know Cain had a good series with the bat, but I almost think his outstanding play in the outfield had more to do with him getting the ALCS MVP.

I am actually somewhat partial to the Orioles. I work with Hank Bauer. His father was Hank Bauer on the New York Yankees in the 40s and 50s. 7 rings with the yankees. He was the coach for the Orioles in the 60s when they won the World Series. He has shown me awesome memorabilia he has of his dad with Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi. Its disappointing to see one of there main boards go completely manic.

Did Chiefs and O's fan go off the grid?

we certainly didn't win that series because of luck LMAO

Orioles fans are bitches:
http://forum.orioleshangout.com/foru...nlikeable-quot "KC players did not act professional in my opinion during the series. There were a number of times they showed the players in the dugout laughing. What were they laughing about? It seemed to happen after they made a great play to rob one of our hitters. That's funny? I think they wanted the Orioles to think nothing they did would beat them and if that was their motto it worked. The people watching on TV saw it as well as the broadcasters. Their manager should have stopped it or one of their coaches should have. Little League players don't do that during games." |
