Free HBO/Free Cable... Seriously?
I was driving past a decent hotel the other day in Omaha and I noticed that on the sign out front. The lettering was faded so I'm guessing it's been up there a few years. Why do hotels/motels still advertise that on their signs? I mean I know I don't look for hotels that allow me to watch Game of Thrones when I'm traveling. I look for places that might offer free wifi, free breakfast, free drinks and such.
Seriously? Isn't HBO and cable pretty much a staple at all hotels anymore? Maybe advertise free porn or how about Netflix or Hulu? Actually, **** your TV. Where's the free dinner vouchers or something? It's kind of stupid, IMO. This is just a bit obscure and outdated nowadays. I could understand it in the 1980's when HBO was a big ****ing deal. Now it pretty much comes with any cable/satellite plan. I've seen other outdated "deals" like that as well. The gas station that still offers free air, the buffet restaurant that let's kids under four eat free... Shit like that just doesn't make sense anymore to me. Maybe it's to bring in the older crowds? **** it, I'm gonna go watch me some free HBO at the motel 6. |
BTW, Deberg asked me to post this.

Air is getting kind of hard to find in gas stations anymore.
My BIL and SIL made a PILE of money by hitting family days in Salina. They could tell you where kids could eat cheap on any given day of the week. |
I need clarification on "decent" hotel.
So many are used by the hour or by the syringe. |

edit: Are those extended stay hotels? Nasty people live in those. I bet free cable and HBO is a good draw for a crack head. |

I think this one was a Hawthorne inn or something similar. |
I agree with you except for the air part. It's pretty rare to find a gas station with free air these days. Most have gone with the little coin operated ones.

Really though, when you have a big leak and NEED air to make it to the tire repair shop or home, it can be hard to find. I can understand town vehicles. Bought the wife a new car 2 years ago, and we never take it off a paved road and there are precisely 0 patches in those tires. My pickup on the other hand had at least 8 in each of the back tires. I'm a little more sensitive to the air situation than most. Accordingly, I'm picking up one of these after harvest so I never have to **** with it again. http://www.ncaircompressors.com/imag...3/PUK5508G.JPG |
There's also one in Springfield that Advertises "Elvis stayed here in 195something"
Big ****ing deal |

I don't have HBO at home but when I stay at hotels they always do. There's never anything I want to see on there. I can't imagine paying for it.

One thing I can't stand with a hotel is when they only have powdered creamer for the coffee.

Funny, I was just talking about this yesterday.
I remember when it was such a big deal for Hotels/Motels to have swimming pools as well. Do they still advertise "Heated Pool". |

Sore one of those air balls (nicknamed) that store compressed air. Fill it up, and toss it in your truck. My brother use to bring his to the drag strip to add air back to the tires after he had run them at lower psi during his passes. That thing works great.

I refuse to pay for air unelss absolutley necessary

Corn was all over the place, really bad to pretty good. The milo that I got planted on time was consistently solid. The milo that had to wait on the rain looks pretty decent, hopefully it's better than the early stuff, but there are couple fields that are definitely going to be worse from being out of rotation. I even have some double crop milo out. It's not going to be good, but FFS I have a double crop! I certainly don't have the harvest coming that east of here does, but my god it feels good to cut something better than 10 bu/ac. Jesus that was terrible. There are definitely more birds out here than there were the last couple, but it's going to take a good long time for the population to get back where it was. It doesn't help that there are foxes around now. I'd never seen them here, but there are 2 families within a mile of the shop. That's bad friggin news for the pheasants. |

Free air is a rarity around here. I'd love to see more signs pimping it.
