Person on the Royals roster who deserves a WS ring the most?

Mine would have to be Raul Ibanez

eDave 10-24-2014 11:52 PM

Hard question. Can I say all of them?

Chiefshrink 10-25-2014 12:05 AM

What Chiefsplanet member deserves a ring ?

Buehler445 10-25-2014 12:16 AM

Gordo gets my vote.

Billy's making millions to swing a bat 4 times (tops) a game. He's gotten what he deserves.

kysirsoze 10-25-2014 02:09 AM

I guess Ibanez or Gordon. No one else is in the conversation, I don't think.

I would say Gordon.

jaa1025 10-25-2014 04:43 AM

Ibanez, Gordon and even Josh Willingham.

Deberg_1990 10-25-2014 06:06 AM

Here's a question

Do guys not on the active roster get rings too?

Guys like Ibanez, Aaron Crow, Giovetella, etc

I think even the groundskeeper gets one

CoMoChief 10-25-2014 06:19 AM

Gordon because not only for a while he was the face and poster child for a lot of bad royals teams, he was once listed as a complete bust until his emergence as a defensive god out in LF. For him to have the career roller coaster like he has from college badass prime mlb prospect to underachieving young player to borderline bust to outfield standout eventually becoming an allstar at a position he had to learn from scratch at a high level is an extremely tough thing to do....and while his bat isn't what it was hyped to be....He pretty much proved a lot of people in KC wrong and he's obviously a huge reason why KC is only 2 wins away from their first WS championship in 3 decades.

speaking of Raul...based on this interview, I hope he'll be considered for Royals skipper one day.

Good interview, but it looks like he's auditioning for a broadcasting gig.

All of 'em.

MTG#10 10-25-2014 07:56 AM

How satisfying could it possibly be for Ibanez though knowing he didn't contribute to it? Im going with Gordon.

Guess I should have said contribute during this incredible playoff run. If I was a player sure Id accept the ring in his position but I dont think I'd feel that I really deserved it.

Iowanian 10-25-2014 08:14 AM

Royals Fan.....is the player who deserves this the most. We've been waiting on it longer than any player or coach on the roster.

Bruce Chen

It's a dumb ****ing thread, but, Billy Butler and Alex Gordon

Mother****erJones 10-25-2014 09:24 AM

James Shields. He's changed your mindset and helped set this up. Maybe he's declined a little bit statistically but that was a great trade.

Never thought wade Davis would be the reason why we're going to win a world series over Shields

Crazy. But I'm happy for yall. As fans you deserve it. The city deserves it too. Now we just Gota get our Chiefs to win.

Mother****erJones 10-25-2014 09:30 AM

You know it's funny, I remember in July telling my uncle, who is a Tigers fan, that KC is going to be a very dangerous playoff team because of the shutdown pen.

One could make the case that the reason the Royals are even in the post season is because Rual went to Shields and called that player only meeting that turned things around.

If they go on to win this, Ibanez will be just as deserving of his ring as any other player.

Because he called a meeting? Ok.

He's not. Shields logged 220 innings of 3.21 for the year and we made the postseason by only 2 games. He was more valuable than Davis was only pitching 70 innings. Without Shields we don't make it in.

But in October, for sure.

cmh6476 10-25-2014 10:23 AM

Not even sure if he already has one or not but Dale Sveum

CoMoChief 10-25-2014 10:29 AM

Ibanez got his chance at WS w/ other big market teams. Which is the reason I think Gordon deserves it 100% more than Ibanez.

He (Ibanez) was of little significance in terms of production on the field. Now sure he may have veteran leadership among the clubhouse and he can hold all the meetings he wants to...but IMO the players still have to perform. And they did...Ibanez mostly sat in the dugout and was a player/bench coach/veteran mentor.

Prison Bitch 10-25-2014 10:30 AM

Ibanez left for FA, Gordon stuck it out. Nuff said. However, I do like Ibanez. Nice family photo here:

Hootie 10-25-2014 10:32 AM

Raul's a good guy, man. Love to see him as a bench coach or something next year. I don't really know how that works in the big leagues, I'm sure he'll have to pay his dues...but he's good for the clubhouse.

I wouldn't even be opposed to him being a bench bat next year for league minimum...but I don't know if that's a good usage of the 25th spot on our team.

Heh, you know it has to sting just a little as he was with the team most of the season.

ROYC75 10-25-2014 01:02 PM

The 4 most deserving people ?

GM Dayton Moore
First Base Coach Rusty Kuntz
Third Base Coach Mike Jirschele
HC Ned Yost

2 of them built the team while 2 of them have been in the organization a long time.

Hootie 10-25-2014 01:08 PM

the thing I like most is ...

we didn't buy anyone other than Willingham to get us here ...

these guys ALL deserve it.

EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM.

My favorite team ever.

Mav 10-25-2014 01:11 PM

Dale Sveum..... He is a Hell of a coach

The only players that definitely get a ring are the players on the WS roster. After that, it is up to the team who gets one, but teams generally give them everyone on the non-active roster, DL, etc. and even players no longer on the team if they had a meaningful contribution.

Does everyone who was on the roster this season get one if they win? Technically I suppose they should since they played some part in the Royals getting to this point.

Bambi 10-25-2014 04:41 PM

Probably Shields.

xztop123 10-25-2014 05:57 PM

I guess the catcher. I always feel like thats the toughest job in the game by far. and given how tall he has, GL @ knees past 40

Lex Luthor 10-26-2014 11:11 AM

For some reason this thread has lost its burst.

Could it be that some of you naive mother****ers jumped the gun just a little?

okcchief 10-26-2014 11:54 AM

I'll go with Gordon since he stuck with us.
