Brandon Finnegan making history!!

Not only is he the first ever pitcher to pitch in the college World Series and World Series in the same year but apparently he's going to Cooperstown.

Per Jeff Passan

Brandon Finnegan's cap from tonight is headed to Cooperstown. The Hall of Fame asked for it, and he said yes. He'll wear a new one Saturday.

How about THAT guy?! I mean, come on.

Buehler445 10-25-2014 12:14 AM

Dude is big timing it on the biggest stage. Kid has ice in his veins.

Kid is an 'old soul' at 21 and 'who knows' he was born to not only pitch in the show but win in the WS. He has the moxy of a 35 y.o. vet. He imo will be our ace of the future. Would love to see him start.

Yeah and Shields was grabbing him by the shirt and shit in that wild card game lol. What a load of shit. Shields has been pretty shitty this postseason. Finnegan was probably like "yeah whatever dude...."

You seriously think what Shields did was a bad thing? Shields was pumping the guy up for what a GREAT job he did.

Yeah, that was right after Finn made everyone look like they went to clown college! I don't think he was "giving him business".

There was nothing wrong with what I said. I don't think he was giving him shit. I just don't like Shields.

How can you not like what Shields has done for this team?

I don't think we're gonna miss a beat when he's gone next year.

Halfcan 10-25-2014 08:57 AM

What I loved was after Finnegan got the first out he was smiling and enjoying himself. It was like-"don't worry dudes-I got this." That attitude of confidence was amazing and to me turned the games momentum back to the Royals.

You can't love that guy nearly enough.

Why Not? 10-25-2014 09:10 AM

Never seen anything like it. Kid has zero nervousness.

lcarus 10-25-2014 09:14 AM

He's gonna be really really good. So much of the game is mental and for him to have already been on the absolute biggest stages so early in his career is going to greatly benefit him.

Hootie 10-25-2014 09:17 AM

Amazing for his development. What a story

YOu were tooting this dude's horn pretty early on weren't you? If I recall. You nailed it if that's the case.

Heh.

I just wanted Ned to manage like THIS. He was PERFECT last night. And I'm the guy who was kinda angry we went Finnegan over Wade Davis last night. But Ned...he deserves a few apologies. One from me, no doubt

beer bacon 10-25-2014 10:06 AM

I understand Shields hasn't pitched well this postseason. However, he's pitched 455 innings with a 3.18 ERA the last two seasons. He's been a huge influence on our pitching staff. We wouldn't have made it to the playoffs without him.

KChiefs1 10-25-2014 10:14 AM

Will he be in KC next year or Omaha?

cmh6476 10-25-2014 10:20 AM

So what is this guy's role next year? He obviously makes the big league roster out of ST, right? Do they try to work him into a starting role or does he start in the pen and try to work into a starting role late in the season? Innings limit? With what he's shown, there's really no point for him to go through anything other than AAA

Yeah he's not bad. He's just been pissing me off lately and I'm in a "what have you done lately for me" type of mood.

KChiefs1 10-25-2014 10:36 AM

Shields will pitch great tomorrow.

So you'll be knob slobbing when he goes in and wins the deciding game of the World Series in SF?

Like him, or dislike him, just don't be a fair weather ****off. Those people are the ****ing worst.

I reserve the right to like or dislike players now, later, or whenever. Whether it meets your approval or not. I mean, Spider-Man kicks ass, and your taste in games and movies kicks ass, so I definitely WANT your approval, but if I don't get it I'll live.

And also, fair weather ****offs don't back the Chiefs and Royals for 25 years lol. That's most of us here I think.

lcarus 10-25-2014 06:08 PM

And you better believe I'll slob his knob like Gianna Michaels if he wins the deciding game in the WS. Like corn on the damn cob.

Bowser 10-25-2014 09:28 PM

Unfortunate bump

Gonzo 10-25-2014 09:52 PM

That's no shit. WTF is this shit?

Hootie 10-26-2014 07:12 AM

and Al asked me what I had against Finnegan

the answer?

NOTHING

but he's a ****ING rookie. This was GOING to happen. When they got the out with the sac bunt, and then he IBB'd Posey...

THE ONLY ****ING PLAY WAS WADE DAVIS.

THAT WAS THE ONLY MOVE.

AND WE GOT ****ING YOSTED.

AND I'LL NEVER GET OVER IT.

We'd have just burnt through a pitcher. At that point you knew it was done.

Hootie 10-26-2014 07:17 AM

There is no God damn reason in hell you can justify not going to Davis there.

It was simple.

We had to keep the game tied. Wade Davis gave us, probably, a 65% chance of that happening. Finnegan? 20%

You bring in Davis. Let's say he gets out of it.

4-4.

Top 7. Who knows.

He pitches bottom 7.

4-4.

and then you go to the 8th.

Can't pitch Herrera? Fine.

It's the World Series.

Turn to Holland for 2...

and if it's still 4-4 after 9

Then it is what it is. That gave us 9 outs to win the game by scoring 1 run. We can't do that, then ok. Congrats SF. You win.
