This One Bugged Me

How much more of a warning sign do you need? The season is over...again. Maybe next year. This team is always on the wrong side of the coin flip. It's not a bad streak at this point. It's a proven pattern. The wind are out of my sails.

Discuss Thrower 12-01-2014 01:27 AM

The season was effectively over once Tennessee stomped KC out in September.

They overachieved to 7 wins to this point. I guess that's a good thing in a vacuum.

But the problem is that this is two seasons in a row where the team falls apart once November starts. The defense isn't good, the offense isn't good and the special teams are more of a liability than an asset.

It's going to take a lot of luck and savvy moves before this team will do anything in the postseason..

If they get there in the next two or three years...

Otter 12-01-2014 01:47 AM

I just thought the Chiefs would rally and pull one out for Eric Berry. I have a nephew that I love dearly but the kid is never going to grasp Algebra let alone Calculus.

It is what it is sometimes. Yeah, I'm bumbed. :banghead:

Nothing a bike ride in the morning won't take care of. Maybe next year!

Easy 6 12-01-2014 05:30 AM

The homer in me died last night, it really did.

To be honest, I switched over to one of the shittiest movies of all time, The Happening, when they went down 17-0... I didnt care that there was "plenty of football left", because I just knew from the way they came out of the gate what the outcome was going to be.

All that time to prepare, all the times that puke has beaten us, all that was on the line and all of it happening at home... and they came out, in the words of Dayze, and pissed straight down their leg... I honestly think Manning is in this teams head, I honestly dont believe that they think they can beat him.

RAH RAH RAH **** DENVER!
LETS KICK THAT DONKEY ASS!
GONNA BREAK FIVEHEADS NECK!

All of that bullshit bravado and hope died in me last night, I'm sick of feeling and talking that way only to end up embarrassed the next day... this team doesnt deserve to win a ****ing thing this year, not a playoff berth and not a playoff win.

Every single one of them can kiss my ass.

So... Did you get your season ticket renewal? Just in time for Christmas. Act now and get a signed Cooper poster.

Valiant 12-01-2014 05:53 AM

I was there when we got Cassel, it was renewed when we extended Smith.

It is not all on Smith though, he is who smart posters thought he was. Not a knock on him, that is just his tool set.

What made it worse, coaching and playcalling. The continually saying sorry for not utilizing Charles more is bad. The team is soft, both lines get pushed around. Granted it is partially the schemes, certain players are just soft. There is no fire in the defense. You do not have to knock the opposing players silly every play, but when you get a chance you should always do it. It makes them you fear you and not try that shit again.

KC did great for a bit, but then came down to reality. I said it a couple times. Oakland showed how to treat a team like us. And Reid always tries to outthink the other teams, so much it hurts us by not utilizing the playmakers we do have.

When they do well I happy, but when they suck and lose I expect it. Man it is a weird but decent feeling not to ever rage anymore about this team.

Unless some other teams collapse, they should be out of the playoff picture now. ( Yes, technically they are still the 6th. But no way someone from the AFCN like Pittsburg does not nab it.)

jallmon 12-01-2014 06:19 AM

Hey Otter! Yep, this is our Chiefs team. Hard to admit it, but this is it. If we can steal a couple more games this year we may get WC. Possibly get lucky and win a playoff game? We need line and WR help this offseason.

This was the next to last televised game for me. Will see them when they come here to play Pgh. The rest are on Redzone. I would need to get my bp meds adjusted to watch this story every week. My ****ing ears were ringing.

Jimmya 12-01-2014 06:27 AM

Just like Bill Cowher said "it doesn't matter how good the oline is if the defense doesn't respect the qback they will continue to load the box and blitz."

You lasted longer than Bob Dole.

When your hated rival comes to YOUR ****ing house and after 2 possessions, has more ****ing points than you do YARDS, you're not worth watching.

First time EVER Bob Dole has stopped watching a game. 40+ years, and they finally managed to kill every bit of give a shit.

Yep. 9-7 at best... In any case, the thing that bothered me the most was when Von Douche speared Alex, NOBODY RETURNED THE FAVOR. UNACCEPTABLE! SOFT TEAM MAN - SOFT TEAM...

I guess the Chiefs defence is smart enough to recognize that there's a difference in where Peyton Manning and Alex Smith land on the NFL gives a **** about meter.

If they should have done anything it should have been a lineman or Kelce diving for those knees in a "chop block."

Sandy Vagina 12-01-2014 07:43 AM

Yep. Despite the lack of offseason additions, I really felt that KC could contend for the playoffs. WRONG

The OL is a flaming bag of shit. The lack of starting ILBs is an aids tree soaked in antifreeze, from which the flaming bag hangs.

Fix this.. add a quality WR, and I see hope for a legit playoff team.

Hootie 12-01-2014 07:47 AM

well the positive thing is : this team made a playoff push and I never expected that in a million years (and we're probably still 50/50 to make a wild card game)

Dorsey really had us set up to compete next year rather than this year which I thought was fine so the fact Reid did a pretty good job in getting a pretender into the playoff hunt is awesome

Chief Henry 12-01-2014 07:56 AM

Two BRUTAL back to back performances on National TV....every coach and every player needs to have their collective azz kicked in. To allow our two most hated opponents to butt pound us on National TV is a disgrace of epic proportions. The KC Chiefs are ****ing FRAUDS. I wish I could tell them that to their face in a team meeting with every coach and every player in attendance. I'm mad because I bought into this years team after I swore I would never do it again. I'm mad because I invested so much emotion into another fricken KC Chiefs team. I'm mad because I went to that shitfest at Arrowhead. It will be a cold day in hell before I go back ! I'm mad as hell because I know I will watch again on TV...Its like a crack habit I guess and its going to kill me eventually and I can't do a god dam thing about it.

There isn't a shot in hell this team makes the correct moves to "compete" next year.

It's going to take at least three years.

And a pattern that has played out over, and over and over. Aside from the Gansz, Gunther, and Herm years where there was truly no hope, the pattern of KC winning a few games they had no business winning and putting themselves into the playoff race by late November, only to fade during December and limp into the playoffs has been this teams M.O. for years.

There's always that one game that exposes the team and last week was it. I was hoping it was merely a 3 days to prepare aberration, but I knew better. Last night confirmed it.

Well, at least KC can hang their hat on the fact that they beat NE 8 weeks ago. woo hoo!

Chiefnj2 12-01-2014 09:06 AM

The fact remains you have 3 teams playing like contenders right now (NE, GB and Denver) and a bunch of seriously flawed teams competing for Ms. Runner-up.

The biggest problem I have with KC is that their flaws were apparent in the offseason and the team didn't do much of anything to address them. Plus, the team is tied to Reid and Smith for at least 2 more years. Not much to get excited about, but one thing is for sure - come April/May the majority of the fan base won't remember 40 years of futility and every drafted player will be an automatic starter and upgrade and by gosh, KC will be competitive. (Until they break everyone's heart in late November, again).

Same here. After their second TD I skipped to the end.

Really no longer care that much. This team did over achieve. The defense is out of gas. 1-4 the rest of the way.

Once we Reid the bed in Oakland the season was over. They coaches knew it, the players knew it and it showed last night.

Its done boys. This season is over.

That's not really true. Add a couple O-linemen and a WR or two, and they can. Wouldn't hurt to add some quality depth at NT.

The funny thing it most would have taken 9-7 at the beginning of the season. IF the Chiefs get there, once you look at how they managed it, it takes whatever "shine" one can put on a 9-7 season. Backing into 9-7 is NOT the same as showing steady improvement throughout the season and reaching it. They're collapsing down the stretch AGAIN. That's not the kind of trend to build around.

Link had 19 snaps.. looked pretty shitty too.

We're stuck with the Hunt family. That isn't going to change and I won't even let myself entertain the notion that I'll ever see different ownership of this franchise.

The Chiefs are still going to fill the stadium up next year. We've hit the win threshold for the average KC fan to be content already. Let's just ratchet this bitch up to .500 or a game better, and that sweet, sweet Q smoke will roll next fall.

It will be Year 3 of the Reid/Smith experiment (they've got it figured out by now!), paired with a bevy of draft picks for Dorsey to piss away, and probably an easier schedule for the truest of fans to pluck 11 wins out of.

a few years ago, I recognized that each year they Chiefs aren't winning the Super Bowl or even sniffing it. So for me, the season is really a dog and pony show anyway.

I used to get jacked up on Friday all day at work for Sunday. Sunday morning I was up at 7am; coffee, breakfast, sports pages, watching Sunday NFL Countdown etc; football all day. Now, I just don't care. A lot of it is what the NFL has turned into, but a lot of it is also knowing that the Chiefs are never in contention.

If they win a playoff game, 'maybe' I'll get a little more intersted, but until then...meh.

If the Chiefs were a perennial legit contender; this site and the city at large would be chaos. It would be beautiful, and I have no doubt every man, woman and child would be all-in. Nobody would be bitching about how pussified the league is if it were our team expected to score 35 ppg.

That's not our reality. We're a have-not franchise, and nothing I've seen from Dorsey and Co. so far has made me genuinely believe we're pulling out of that territory any time soon.

Don't get me wrong I still LOVE Sunday NFL,it's just that now it's all about trying to win some extra cash and the friends who join me in the gameroom feel the same and they have no problem if KC gets moved to a small tv and a better match-up is featured on the big screen.

TinyEvel 12-01-2014 11:49 AM

One of the biggest frustrations for me is how many times our defense gets a hand on a pass, only to drop it. We have 4 interceptions through 12 games. Only team with less is NYJets at 3.

Also, last night how may damn 3rd and long conversions made by Denver? All of them? One or two for a TD. :banghead:

Oh, I like to listen to the Chiefs Monday Night Party show with Mitch, especially after soul crushing losses, to listen to the blind rose colored glass wearing audience fanatics who whoop and holler and cheer and chant no matter what. I hope some night Mitch Holthaus just loses it, and brings in a big plastic trash can and makes them all drink a big batch of anti-freeze tainted Kool Aid.

man that was ****ing brutal. I was out there from 4pm to about 5 minutes in the 4th we left. Im still cold. So rediculous how shitty this team showed up for that game. Wow. That first half chiefs team was the team I thought we were going to be all season. Horrible oline protection, knowone to throw to, alex smith not being able to throw the ball anyway, and average to shitty db's. We need to make a lot of moves after the offseason or next year will be another bullshit season. Which im already prepared for. oh well, got spring training soon.

This. The same people giving up in here will be the same ones turning the next Dee Ford into Derrick Thomas before he's off the podium

Chumps yes, they even made an upgrade to Chefs there for a minute, but never, ever have they deserved to be called CHIEFS.

This whole organization has, in general, sucked so bad, for so long, that I really do believe in the conspiracy theory I concocted. Half the teams must lose every week. The Chiefs are one of those teams that need to be there with a semi shit competitive squad, make the playoffs every now and then then exit gracefully for the princes of the NFL to take their rightful throne.

Frankly, I don't think I will be hyped about this team until they get a playoff win, then I could start to have the little boy hope that has died off decades ago.
