Why is Von Miller not receiving a fine/suspension?

The NFL gives out $100,000 fines to players who don't show up to a media podium. Yet Von Miller literally exploded our quarterback 2 full seconds after he threw the ball. Not only late hit but he lowered his damn helmet into his spine and drove through him. If that doesn't warrant a fine and a suspension than what the **** does? The NFL needs to get their shit together and start treating Denver like the rest of the league.

Hootie 12-01-2014 02:49 PM

I imagine he'll get a small fine

TLO 12-01-2014 02:49 PM

Hootie 12-01-2014 02:51 PM

It takes a lot to get suspended but that hit was cheap and I wish someone on our damn team would've stuck up for our QB

MagicHef 12-01-2014 02:51 PM

Because fines aren't usually given out until Thursday.

I know the Chief's are like the red-headed step child in the eyes of the referees (As obviously displayed by the Bronco defender getting a piggy back ride from Jason Avant) but the league needs to set a damn message that dirty shit like this doesn't fly. Fines dont mean shit to these guys he needs to miss some playtime, irritating as **** because you bet your sweet sorry ass if any Chief player did that to Manning it would be front page on ESPN with articles discussing the depravity of it all. Yet because it was the Chief's QB it's just like meh, they'll forget tomorrow.

eDave 12-01-2014 02:52 PM

Has the league announced that there will be no fine?

Smith is no Manning. The lesson here, if no fine, is to be Manning, Rodgers, Luck, Brady, etc.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he were suspended. He was seriously racking up the personal fouls in his first 2 seasons, and there was talk about suspending him for it if it continued. I guess it's been a while, so he may not get suspended, but I expect the fine to be pretty significant.

I figured that hit would cause CP to break out in celebration.

Dayze 12-01-2014 03:01 PM

our offensive line should be fined for showing no emotion / support of their QB who just got cheap shotted. lol.

they walked around like it was no big deal.

I don't think the hit was even worth a fine, to be honest, and I despise Von Miller and everything he stands for.

It's possible I suppose, but the hit wasn't THAT bad. If he hadn't led with his helmet, I doubt they would've even thrown the flag.

Of FAR GREATER concern to me is WHY didn't anyone wearing a RED uniform return the favor? You get your ASSES KICKED ALL NIGHT LONG. Tempers are HOT and some TOTAL DOUCHE totally CHEAP SHOTS YOUR QB, at HOME no less, and in the process gives you the PERFECT EXCUSE to go after 5-HEAD. NOBODY would have had to tell me twice. I'd have been on it the next series. GUARANTEED. Worth the fine and all that went with it because at least I WOULD ALWAYS HAVE THAT!

People would have eventually forgotten the game but would ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW TEX WENT AFTER PEYTON after Von Douche hit MY QB with a CHEAP SHOT! Oh **** YEA I WOULD HAVE DONE IT! Just wired like that and so too should SOMEONE had been on the Chiefs D - DAMMIT!

Wish the chiefs had a player or two on defense with some dirty play, they play like pussies no passion no kill attitude no hate the other ****ing team.

They need to bring it or find another career

Granted if we had Suggs he might of went after Manning or anyone carrying the ****ing football after that hit on Smith.

Chiefs are playing like they have no a sack.

They sure as hell do not play with enough attitude on defense or start no shit with other teams, be nice to have a defense that other teams fear to play because they know there gona get hit ****ing hard every time they get the ball.

Credit Jack Del Rio

Chiefs D never set the tone for that game last night they play like pussies

If that had been Manning getting hammered by Houston, our roles would be reversed here I'm sure. :-) Hell, Houston might have been ejected just because it was Manning and banned from the league on the sideline too. T

Yep. He probably did get a little bent.

I don't care how classy Manning is or how great he is, (and he certainly is great) BUT I would have come after him, very NEXT series GUARANTEED. Coaches would have had to take me out of the game. No two ways about it.

I hear you and YES - WHATEVER it took. Had this been in the 70's or 80's THAT WOULD have happened! Players police the game - when there is no fear of retaliation, dickheads like Miller get to write the rules.

To be clear I wouldn't have done it 10 seconds afterwards, but I WOULD have taken my shot 1-2 seconds afterwards to the point that everyone in the stadium would have known WHAT & WHY it happened.

Looks tame compared to some other hits on QB's, if he wanted to he could have went low.

It's football set the tone or go home, the chiefs had no answer hell they cant even tackle with attitude, they play like its going hurt to tackle someone.

They are afraid of hard contact plus it was cold it hurts when you hit someone when its cold.

Then in turn we could tell them how to fix the problems with there team....ughhhhh

Rain Man 12-01-2014 05:13 PM

Philosophically, I don't like fines on defensive players unless it's something horrendous. In the long run, giving them on-field penalties is probably more likely to change their behavior since it hacks off 52 teammates.

I think the fines came along because some of the penalties any more are so ticky-tack that the teammates don't get hacked off. They view the penalties as being dumb. So the league has to implement fines in addition to on-field penalties.

In this situation I agree with the on-field penalty, and even that is a quarter-second away from being unnecessary. But I don't think that a fine is warranted, even if it would help society by potentially diverting some of Von Miller's money from the criminal underground that he associates with.

**** ya

Wait until it opens up for a delayed blitz and don't stop or slow down for anything. I imagine an NFL athletic can create quite a bit of force if they know that they aren't going to stop for the whistle or if the QB throws the ball.

Hit manning at full speed, pin his arms so his shoulder hits first and drive him into the ground. Land on him with your entire body.

Sure that's about 4 penalties but they only count one at a time, fine from the head office.

with luck you crack his collar bone and knock him out for 4-6 weeks.

You do know they don't give out fines this early in the week, right? Sooo....that might be why.

Oh, and it wasn't a full 2 second late. Overreact much?

I think he should be fined, but it's a gray area. Is Smith really a quarterback?
